Chapter 3
Stay With MeYoongi was nervous as he got in the car. He didn’t show it, he wanted to look nonchalant about the situation, despite the ever multiplying butterflies that wouldn’t stop taking up the space where his stomach should be. His brain was racing with thoughts as the car pulled out of the drive; a series of questions that were slowly starting to merge together, not making sense to him anymore.
His mother looked at him anxiously, having spent the last week trying to find as many (if any at all) orphanages around them, she’d finally found 2 organisations. She felt terrible for all the children who weren’t in the right age range, as she’d happily adopt them all had she felt she could give them all the love and affection they deserved. But with a job that kept her away from her own son for the majority of the year, she felt it wasn’t fair to do so.
So instead she had brought with her a series of envelopes for every child, with money to support them through whatever they needed, as well as a cheque for the organisations to keep them running. They were all good people, and she wanted to make sure that the children – and staff – had the most comfortable experience possible whilst waiting for families to come along to adopt them, and the money could definitely help with that.
Whilst thinking about the envelopes in her handbag, Yoongi was busy staring out the window. He was growing more and more nervous with every building they passed; when would they get there?
He started to think about the perfect friend, the one person he’d be able to tell all his troubles to and also be there for them too. They’d have to be a boy - a girl would get harder to talk to as we grew older. He nodded as his own thought, unaware of his mother who was now looking at him with a small smile on her face. He’d have to be smaller than me too, I can’t imagine the embarrassment if my dongsaeng was taller than me. He’d better not be a snorer either, I need to be able to sleep. Yoongi openly cringed at those thoughts, his nose scrunching in disgust as he stared out of the window.
