They arranged to meet up in a café the next morning at 8. Every minute was precious now, they didn’t want to lose any of it.

Jihyo wore a casual write dress, and Gary wore long pants and shirt. Now that he had a chance to see her closely, he realised she was really beautiful. What a pity she had to die so young…

Gary stood up to greet Jihyo, and they smiled at each other.

Jihyo gave him her to-do list. He glanced through it briefly, but his eyes lingered on point 5.

Jihyo noticed that he was looking at it, and she blushed. Then she realised something important. Something that would throw her plans off rail.

“Do you have a girlfriend already?” she asked, nervously. “I mean, I totally didn’t consider that you might want to spend your last days with her… or even your family. I’m so sorry,” she said. She had only thought about herself. She hadn’t thought about him.

He smiled and shook his head. “No, I don’t.”

Then he stood up again and offered his hand. “Single and available, but dying. Wanna date?”

Jihyo couldn’t help but laugh. Her eyes crinkled as she did, and Gary couldn’t help but smile at her. Maybe everything happened for a reason after all. Maybe all of this happened so… so he could meet her.

“Have you told your family?” Gary asked her.

She shook her head. “No… how could I…?”

Gary sighed. “Me neither.”

They sat in solemn silence for a moment, and then Gary’s eyes lit up with an idea.

“Hey! How about this. We’ll lie to them that we are going for an overseas trip. And then we video down everything we do for this 30 days. All our happy moments. And we’ll tell them that we spent our last days happily, and tell them not to be guilty for not being there, because it was what we wanted.”

“You are crazy…” Jihyo said, but she was starting to smile again. It wasn’t the best idea, but it was a good idea. At least to her it was good.

Gary shrugged. “When you’ve only got 30 days, you gotta think less normally!”

Jihyo smiled. “Okay, so start the discussion. You’ve looked at my bucket list. So what’s yours?”

Gary shrugged again. “I don’t know. I never planned ahead. I’ll think on the spot.”

“Don’t you have any things you want to fulfil?”

Gary suddenly turned serious and looked into Jihyo’s eyes. “I want to fall in love.”

Jihyo was stunned and started blushing. Gary chuckled, “Just kidding,” and turned away to look at her list again.

“Let’s start by signing up for coffee art class,” Gary suggested.

“Eo?” Jihyo asked, still a little in shock. “Oh, okay.”

Gary chuckled and pulled her to the counter.

“Do you have classes for coffee art?” he asked.

The barista nodded. “Yes, but the session for this month is already over. You can choose the one next month?”

Jihyo face fell. Next month… if only she had a next month.

But Gary asked again. “Maybe you could have a class just for two of us? We don’t mind paying any amount of money!”

The barista hesitated a little.

“Please, my girlfriend really wants to learn it. We want to make one for each other for our 100th day celebration!”

Jihyo looked at Gary incredulously. Since when was she his girlfriend?

“Alright,” the barista relented. “But it will have to be rather late at night.”

“No problem! Thank you!” Gary nodded excitedly and nudged at Jihyo, who smiled awkwardly.

“Didn’t know you were my boyfriend,” Jihyo laughed as they walked out of the café. “100 days celebration huh?”

“Hey, we’re spending our final days together. Doesn’t that make me your boyfriend or equivalent?” he chuckled. Jihyo laughed again.

Their next destination was Jihyo’s house. She figured that if they were going to spend their time together, they should get to know each other better. Along the way, they passed by an electronics shop.
