Gary insisted on getting discharged, even though the doctor recommended against it.

“We don’t have much time left.”

“But it’s not safe,” Jihyo said gently, trying to persuade him.

“Nothing is ever safe anymore,” he said, a tinge of bitterness in his voice.

“Gary…” she said, as she snuggled against him. He put his arm around her and pulled her closer to him.

“Just stay for one more day,” she pleaded, pouting her lips.

Gary smiled, and leaned closer to kiss her. “Only for you,” he said. She giggled, but pushed him away.

They went to the garden for a walk in the evening, Jihyo pushing Gary, who was sitting in the wheelchair. There was a river that flowed through the garden, and Gary wanted to go there. Jihyo pushed him over, and sat beside a bench.

They admired the setting sun and the cooling breeze.

“I’ve always wanted to go cycling by the Han river with the woman I love,” he suddenly said. Then, looking at his wheelchair, he noted, “I guess it’s not possible anymore…”

Jihyo silently put her arm over his. He smiled sadly.

“This isn’t too bad, right?” he said, gesturing at the sight before him. This view may be less grand as compared to the Han river, but it’s the best he could get.

She nodded, smiling slightly.
