Mark woke up to the sound of his phone ringing and he would usually just decline any call that came in this early in the morning but he opened his eyes carefully to glare at the bright screen.

Even worse it wasn’t even a number he knew, but since his eyes were already open and Jackson started groaning at him to answer the phone, he groggily answered the phone with a grunt.

“Hello?” a familiar voice rang through the phone but it was still too early for Mark to try and figure anything out.

“Yes,” he muttered his voice deeper than usual since he hasn’t used it yet.

“Good morning baby. Wake up.” The other person said.

“Baby?” Mark questioned glancing at the number again. “I wish I was still sleeping but I’m awake now thanks to you…”

“Wow, y bitterness.” The person on the other line teased and it slowly started to dawn on Mark who it was.

“Ji-Jinyoung?!” he questioned a bit shocked.

“Eung hyung. It’s me.” Mark could envision the mocking smile on his face and he almost facepalmed himself but his body still wasn’t awake yet. “Why did you leave yesterday? I had to ask the others for your number.”

“Oh….I just….” Mark trailed off. He couldn’t just tell Jinyoung he felt out of place. It was still weird that he was using a normal communication method to talk to him.

“I didn’t even get to say goodnight. So I wanted to tell you good morning.” Jinyoung said and Mark couldn’t help but blush but then he moved his phone away to check the time.

“You wanted to tell me that at 6 am Jinyoung….” Mark groaned at how early it was. He fell asleep late last night too.

“It’s not that early….”

“It is. It is very early.”

“I wanted to be the first to tell you so….” His voice trailed off.

“Stop pouting. It’s ok, it’s cute you wanted to do that” Mark said slowly sitting up in bed.

“I’m not pouting!” Jinyoung said defiantly causing Mark to chuckle.

“YAH! Can you take your lover’s morning call somewhere else?! I’m trying to sleep!” Jackson yelled at Mark.

“Was that Jackson? Tell him I said good morning.” Jinyoung said calmly as if Jackson didn’t just yell at Mark.

Mark moved the phone away from his ear and against all better judgement said “Jinyoung said to tell you good morning.”

At Jinyoung’s name Jackson sat up straight in bed. “Did you say Jinyoung?”

Mark nodded slowly and Jackson sprung out of his bed and into Mark’s quickly and grabbed his phone.

“Jinyoungie~ Good morning!” Jackson chirped into the phone and Mark groaned wondering where he got that energy from this early in the morning.

“Eung, I slept well.”

“Oh really?”

“Yea, Mark isn’t a morning person.”

“Haha, yes I’ll come see you tonight.

“Okayyy~” Jackson cooed then handed the phone back to Mark and then went back to his bed to lie down leaving Mark confused and still a bit dazed. How had this become normal already when it was just last night that Jinyoung woke up?

“Hello?” Mark said as he put the phone back to his ear.

“You sound much better now.”

“Why? You don’t like my morning voice?” Mark mocked.

“Don’t get me wrong. It’s y but in a ‘if I was in dark room and heard that, I’d run away’ way.” Jinyoung teased.

“Savage….” Mark muttered in English.

“So I’ve heard from Jae” Jinyoung responded in English chuckling reminding Mark that Jinyoung did speak English.

“Well anyways what are you doing today?” Jinyoung asked.

“I don’t know, we did have practice for our debut but I think our schedule might change now that you’re…..uh…awake?”

“I guess, JYP did say….um hold on for a second” Jinyoung said.

Mark heard Jinyoung talking to someone else that had a deep male voice and he couldn’t quite place who it was since Jinyoung was covering the microphone and he couldn’t quite hear everything till Jinyoung moves his hand away and all he hears is “Jaebummie I’m fine, get off. I’m still on the phone. Give me a minute”

“With who?” he heard Jaebum ask.

“Mark…..with Mark” Jinyoung said softly and Mark started wondering if Jinyoung and JB still had some feelings left from each other. There was some silence on the other side till Mark could hear a door being slammed shut.

Jinyoung sighed. “Hello Mark? Sorry about that. Jaebum just woke up.”

Mark felt a pang in his chest and he didn’t know if it was pain or jealousy or both. “Oh, did he stay the night?” he tried to ask casually but it came out a bit bitter.

Jinyoung hesitated before answering “Yea…”

Mark stayed silent on the other end of the phone. He couldn’t help but feel jealous but it was his own fault for leaving early.

“Mark, please don’t think anything about it. We’re just…..” Jinyoung trailed off.

“Just what Jinyoung?”

“Close…”

“Close how?”

“It’s complicated.”

“How?” Mark asked even though he somewhat knew he wanted verification.

“Eyyy, are you jealous hyung?” Jinyoung asked trying to lighten the mood but Mark wanted answers.

“What if I am?”

Jinyoung sighed. “Mark please….”

“Then what are we Jinyoung?”

“I don’t know. What are we Mark? You already know my feelings for you and you know mine.” Jinyoung stated voice heavy.

“But you’re JB’s.” Mark responded before he could stop himself and then there was shocked silence on both ends.

“I don’t belong to anyone….You know what Mark. I’ll talk to you later. Bye.” Jinyoung said and abruptly ended the call not even giving Mark a chance to respond much less apologize.

Mark sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration. How could he turn such a nice intentioned phone call into such a mess so easily? He really shouldn’t have read Jinyoung’s diary earlier that night.

Mark tried calling back the number that Jinyoung had called him using but it was automatically sent to voicemail. He was ignoring his calls.
