Snap!

Yoongi stared down at his hand, realizing that the wood of the pencil split open and that the tip of the lead had broke off. Little pieces of lead scattered around the broken pencil, smearing against the last word he had written. Namjoon, who had been sitting next to Yoongi, looked up and stared at the broken pencil. With a small frown, he turned and grabbed another pencil and handed it to him. Seeing this, Yoongi shook his head and pulled out a pencil sharpener.

"You okay?" Namjoon asked.

"Yeah," he said, blankly looking down at the lyrics. "Why?"

"You look out of it. Is something in your mind?" he asked.

"No, not really," Yoongi said while avoiding his eyes. "Why?"

"You sure? You don't really break pencils unless you're thinking about something."

Yoongi widened his eyes. "Really? You should've told me!"

Namjoon smirked. "No, I was lying, but at least I know that there really is something going on." Yoongi scowled while Namjoon chuckled. "So what's on your mind?"

The mint-haired boy remained awfully quiet. He kept silent for a long time, hoping that Namjoon would give up, but when the leader showed no sign of dying interest, Yoongi let out a small sigh. He leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling while carefully tapping his lips.

"If you kiss a girl at the spur of the moment, then does that mean you're dating her?" Yoongi asked him.

Namjoon widened his eyes and choked on his own saliva. He looked away, trying to catch his breath and process what he was told. Yoongi frowned at him, displeased with his unnecessary reaction. A few minutes later, Namjoon gave him a careful and serious stare.

"You harassed someone?" Namjoon asked. He turned pale.

"What? No—"

"Hold up, hold up," the leader said, clutching his shirt. "I-Is the girl from a popular girl group? Was anyone there? Did you get caught by the paparazzi?"

Yoongi gave him a dull look. "How careless do you think I am?"

"Okay, but seriously, is she from a popular girl group?"

"She's Jieun."

"Who?"

"Um…" Yoongi scratched his head, frowning deeply. "What was it again…Oh! IU. That's right. Her stage name was IU."

"I…U… IU? The girl that Jimin worked with?" Namjoon asked. Yoongi nodded. "You kissed her? Doesn't she hate you?"

Yoongi paused. "She hates me?"

"I thought she hated you," he admitted. "At the very least, I thought she had some negative perspective of you."

"I don't think she hates me," Yoongi said. He paused again. "At least, I don't think she does."

"Did she kiss you back?"

Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows. "Um… I don't really remember. She didn't resist. Does that count?"

Namjoon sighed and covered his face with his hand. "Yoongi, you ."

"I told her that I love her," Yoongi said.

"What did she say?"

"I don't know. We got interrupted by her manager."

"So you did get caught!"

"He wasn't there to see the kiss, but he was there when he saw us talking. I don't know if he knows what we were talking about, though."

"What did he say?"

"He told me to stay away for Jieun's sake."

"Then there you have it," Namjoon said.

"What do you mean?" Yoongi asked.

"The relationship is over. There's nothing for you to do."

"I don't understand."

"The manager basically wants you to stop. You shouldn't pursue something that's going to be troublesome to you and Jieun," Namjoon pointed out. "It's best that you clear up with Jieun and stop your feelings from developing any further."

Yoongi frowned, disappointed. "Can I really just stop it?"

"Sure," Namjoon said casually. "All you have to do is clarify your relationship with Jieun in a friend-zone way."

"But—"

"But?" Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "What else is there to talk about?"

Yoongi opened his mouth, but nothing really came out. He sealed his lips and shook his head.

"No, nothing," Yoongi murmured. He looked down at his desk. "I'm going to fix up these lyrics. You can go back to the dorms."

"Nah, I'll stay," the leader assured him.

"Do what you want."

As Yoongi absorbed himself into his work, Namjoo gave him occasional glances. The leader pursed his thick lips before looking back down at another song lyrics sheet.

I need to keep a close eye on him, Namjoo thought. Yoongi doesn't really show his emotions clearly, so I'll have to observe him more carefully right now.
