Chapter 8: Old people?

“So class, what are parallel lines?” Mr. Park asked. Didn't we learn this stuff in the third grade?

“ Lines that don't touch,” JaeHwa said proudly.

“ That's a second grade answer. Be more.. specific.” Mr. Park responded. “ Why are you

dressed all fancy today?” he asks Hana. Hana is a half Korean, half American girl in my class.

She is blonde, so Mr. Park makes blonde jokes about her, and she makes fat jokes about him.

It's actually pretty entertaining.

“ It's my birthday today,” Hana said.

“ You're getting older now.. How do you feel?” Mr. Park smirked, “You are now one year closer

to.. death.” Hana just blinked twice.

“ Everyday.. as your skin rots more and more..” Mr. Park continued.

“ You too!” Hana replied.

“ I lotion,” Mr. Park grinned.

…

..

During dismissal..

“ Take the bus with us today,” SungYeol said as we walked out of the school. I stood beside

him as L followed closely behind.

“ Why?” I asked.

“ No reason.. But it's faster than walking,” SungYeol reasoned.

“ Alright,” I said.

“ Race you to the bus!” SungYeol said as he started to run to the bus. I ran as well, almost

catching up to him. When we got in the bus, we both went for the same seat and he sat in it

first. L was sitting in the seat beside it.

“ Can I sit on you?” I asked SungYeol as I looked around, seeing there were no more seats left.

I thought back to the time when we first met and he sat on me.

“ Nope,” SungYeol shook is head and stuck his tongue out.

“ Can I sit on you?” I asked L.

“ Uhh sure..” he said.

“ Thank you. Someone is nice,” I said while glaring at SungYeol. Then I sat on L's lap.

“ Sorry I'm heavy,” I said to L.

“ No you're not. You're so light,” he replied. Then the bus started moving. When we turned, I

almost fell off, but L wrapped his arms around my waist.

...

Why didn't I let her sit on my lap..? That should be me.. SungYeol thought as he glared at the

oblivious L and 'Yuki' laughing.
