Flood from the northern part of Thailand causing the river to overflow. The houses by the river and all the trees are damaged by it, this include all the fruit tree at Aom's house. Luckily the Thai style house is raise up so the living spaces are not damaged. And the fact that everything is so expensive haven't change and this made the family have to live off their saving. They pray that the water will go down soon, but when it does, it will wash away all the fruits and vegetable with it too. Mrs.Orn watches the area by her house with disappointment.

“Gone, everything is gone, do we really have to do everything again?”

“Let it go Mom, we can start everything again, don’t worry!” Aom’s voice is so strong and confident, it’s the voice of a person who won’t give up easily.

“It’ll be a couple of years before we can expect any result” Mrs.Orn mumbles

“Well, we don’t have to plant the orange trees yet, why don’t we start with banana trees. It grows faster, we can sell it while we wait for the oranges”

“Have you heard any news from your university? Do you know when it will open again?”

Her mom’s question made Aom pauses a little, but her eyes grew with confident. “I didn’t go and ask about it mom”

“Why not Honey?”

“I think, maybe, I’ll quit school”

“What? Why?”

“There’s a flood right now and I know you have to dig into your saving to pay for our living. I think I’ll hold it off until we can rebuild it”

“Honey, don’t worry about me, I’ll go and borrow money from people and when the banana trees are fully grown and we can sell it, I’ll pay them back. I think you should go to school, it’s not long before you graduate”

“Mom, where are you gonna go borrow the money? Right now everyone is in the same situation like we are and everything is so expensive”

“I don’t want you to give up on school, we should think this through before we make any decision. I have to get people to help me cut down the old oranges tree, the coconut trees are still standing strong and not many mango trees left”

When her mom said mango tree, it tickle the petite girl’s heart. Not long ago, she still joke and play around it with Mike, but now she don’t even know where he is or know how he’s doing. Aom quickly shook the thought off her head.

“I don’t think we need to get people to help us, we don’t have much money. We can just do it by ourselves Mom, just you and me”

“Are you sure you’re up to it?”

“Yes! We can start tomorrow morning”

“Ok, oh I heard that the Japanese troop bought the boat assembly station close to our house, it’s pretty small what are they going to assemble there”

“Probably a small barge not a huge ship or anything” talking about that station made Aom think of that playful face. The face that smile at her like a little kid, Aom’s eyes grew with hatred.

 “I hate them!”

“Honey, keep your voice down. If people hear you, it won’t be good” Mrs.Orn’s worry face made Aom laugh.

“Mom I only talk about this with you, you don’t have to worry that much”

“We don’t bother them and they don’t bother us, just let it be”

“If that’s the case why don’t they go back to their own country then?”
