Just Friends

The Got7 Series: Loving Mr. Dorky

Youngjae and you weren't the only couple in your class back then in Mokpo. There was another couple just as cute and dorky. They were getting married and had invited all their classmates, including you and Youngjae. Thus all hell broke loose in you and Youngjae's minds and quickly, you called one another up when you two got the invitation letter.

"YOU GOT IT?!" you yelled.

"I DID! WHAT THE HECK ARE WE GOING TO DO?!" Youngjae shouted.

"YAH! CHOI YOUNGJAE, KEEP IT DOWN!" you heard JB yell in the background and your eyes widened.

"YAH, PABO! TALK OUTSIDE THE DORM!" you scolded and you heard a shutting door sound at the background.

"Okay, we're safe. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?!" he whined.

"Look, if we go, we have to take a day to be there and JB is going to ask me as to why I'm going to Mokpo. You'll also have to tell him and he's going to be suspicious. Plus... he might want to go as well to accompany me," you explained and heard him start to panic.

"He CAN'T go! He might find out about us. Maybe you say that you're visiting a friend who is going through a tough time while I say I'm attending the wedding. He wouldn't want to go if you're visiting a close girl-friend who's having problems," he planned out.

"You want me to LIE?" you questioned and you heard him scoff.

"Please, we're BOTH already lying anyway, Sora. Besides, he can't know for our sake and his as well... plus the rest of GOT7," he explained and you sighed, knowing he was right.

"Fine... Okay, then. See you at Mokpo," you said before hanging up.

A FEW DAYS LATER...

Youngjae was wearing a white dress shirt and slick black pants. He was looking extra fine and he knew some girls from his high school were checking him but he could hardly care less... because he was stationed at the desserts table, indulging in cream puffs. Suddenly, he felt a tap on the shoulder and he flicnhed before turning. His eyes widened when he realised it was you. He swallowed the cream puff in his mouth as he looked at you from head to toe. You were wearing a light blue strapless dress which complimented your milky, white skin and soft collarbones. He couldn't help but smile as he saw your white flats which had a thin, black bow at the tip.

"Yah, stop staring!" you said in a hushed voice as you punched his shoulder lightly.

"And god... can you stop eating? You always do this whenever we're at weddings," you complained as you dragged him away and sat him at a table which had their names on it.

"Can't... help it... delicious," he said as he munched on another cream puff.

You rolled your eyes when suddenly laughter could be heard.

"OH. MY GOD! THE DORKY COUPLE!" a girl squealed from somewhere and you and Youngjae couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.

"Are we still known for that?" Youngjae asked and you nodded helplessly.

"Even after you left, people kept on asking me about you," you revealed.

"What did you say?" he asked and you bit your lip.

"Nothing," you answered.

"Why didn't you say we weren't together anymore?" he asked.

"... Cause... I had trouble even aceepting that myself. I didn't want to think we were over eventhough we were. When people asked, I didn't say anything instead I'd just ignore them or walk off," you confessed, feeling down.

"... Why did you walk away?" Youngjae asked worriedly.

Then you looked at him.

"I didn't want anyone to see me cry," you answered and Youngjae remained quiet.

Just then, you heard the piano playing and everyone stood up to welcome the bride. Your back was facing Youngjae and knowing everyone was focused on the bride, you wiped away your tears quickly with your fingertips. Yet, you didn't know the whole time, Youngjae was looking at you, knowing how you were wiping away your tears secretly.

The wedding was still on and now the bride and groom were at your table.

"OH MY GOSH! GUYS!" the bride exclaimed when she saw you and Youngjae peacefully eating.

"Hey!" you and Youngjae greeted in unison, making you two shocked.

"Aww~ Cute! You guys are still together right?" she asked as she held her husband's hand.

Youngjae looked at you to see your lips trembling slightly and your head almost hanging low.

" Nah~ We broke up a while ago but... we're friends now," he said as casually as possible as he scooted closer and slung his arm over your shoulders.

You looked at him, seeing his smiley face which made you smile as well.

"Aw... well... At least you two are still friend," the groom said.

"Yeah~" you said as you slung your arm over his shoulders as well.

It was evening and you two decided to leave... changing into causal clothes at the restrooom and then taking the last two cream puffs on the way out.

"Told you they were delicious," Youngjae chirped and you bumoed him slightly as you two walked.

"Whatever~" you said childishly making him laugh.

The both of you continued walking and then stopped to sit down on a park bench. It was a perfect view of the sunset and you let out a sigh.

"Yah..." you said, sounding mean as you looked at Youngjae.

"What did I do?" he asked worriedly and you smiled.

"... Thanks... for answering that question just now," you said and he chuckled a little.

"Hey, no matter what guy you're with... as long as we still know each other, I'm always going to have your back," he said, making you feel happy.

"Yah, you remember this spot?" he asked suddenly.

"Hm?" you hummed and he pouted.

"We weren't together yet but we were good friends. We came here and parked our bikes just there then  I told you of my dream of becoming a singer. I told you I was scared of singing to people but you wanted me to sing so I sang for you," he recalled.

"... You never told me you were afraid of singing in front of people. You just told me you wanted to become a singer and when I asked you to sing, you did so straight away," you said and Youngjae started to blush.

"Wait... Was I the first person other than your parents to hear you sing?" you asked, amused.

"Yeah... Okay, yes, you were actually the second. My mum was first and then third was my father. I was scared but when you told me to sing... I just... didn't want to let you down," he explained sheepishly.

"Aww~" you said as you pinched his cheek.

You let go after a while, still smiling at him as he looked at you while rubbing his cheek. Slowly the laughter stopped and you two gazed into one another's eyes seriously. You felt butterflies in your stomach and somehow you knew he was feeling it too. The connection broke when you realised what you were doing and looked away, clearing your throat.

"Lets... uh... go back to Seoul," Youngjae suggested as he stood up.

"Yeah," you mumbled as you both started walking to the train station.
