Secrets Revealed

Roommate Manor

A/N: As usual this chapter is not really proofread but please let me know if there are any mistakes or anything that just doesn't make sense.

This chapter is dedicated to Shadow_Reiya who is my newest subscriber and the first person to up vote on this story. When I was eating lunch I was rereading a story called Mountain Hideout by morgan47 when I went to the next chapter and saw the notifications for a new subscriber and a new up vote. It surprised me since I hadn't updated in months. This has motivated me to try and update more often, although it will be hard until near the end of July since I'm in college.

"I am never riding horses again!"

This was the first thing Taemin heard when he walked into the kitchen to get something to eat the morning after the trip to the dude ranch. Laughing he walked over to the fridge to get out some eggs and bacon before going to the stove to begin cooking.

"A little sore are we Sandeul hyung?" Taemin asked with a happy grin, "It's not that surprising since you aren't used to horseback riding. I'm even a little sore too, though not nearly as bad as you since I spent ten years on a ranch."

"Ugh! How do I stop being so sore though?" Sandeul asked slumping in his seat at the table, "I'm so glad I don't have a schedule today because I can't stand the pain!"

As Sandeul finished talking Heechul, Hangeng, Luhan, Sehun, and Minho walked in and looked at the two in the kitchen in confusion. At the looks Taemin couldn't help but grin even more.

"What the heck is going on here?" Heechul asked in confusion, "Why is Sandeul complaining?"

"Oh he's just super sore from yesterday and was just complaining about it." Taemin explained, putting his now cooked food on a plate and moving to the table,
"I was about to tell him that there is a hot tub in the backyard that he can soak in to help with the soreness."

At Taemin's words, Sandeul shot up out of his seat and hurried out of the kitchen, presumably to change and soak in the hot tub Taemin had mentioned. The others left in the room all stared after the idol in bewilderment at how abruptly he had left, minus Taemin who had expected it. After a few moments Hangeng shrugged before heading to the fridge to pull out some ingredients to cook breakfast for himself and the others he came in with. While he was cooking Taemin turned to a quiet Sehun deciding to strike up a conversation with the blind nineteen year old and learn more about him.

"So Sehun-kun, why don't you tell us more about yourself? I'll translate for the ones that don't speak Japanese." Taemin said with a smile even though he knew the younger couldn't see.

"Ano...well I wasn't born blind which Luhan hyung could tell you, and I wasn't born in Japan either." Sehun started, "I was actually born here but when I was four I was kidnapped and taken to Tokyo where I ended up in foster care. When I was ten I met Luhan hyung who got lost while on a school trip and we became really good friends. We stayed in touch through email until my last foster home. Those foster parents kept me cut off from human interaction except for school and would beat me if they caught me trying to contact Luhan hyung. About a year and a half ago, when my foster dad was beating me I fell down the stairs and hit my head pretty bad. A week later I woke up in the hospital and the doctor told me that I had suffered trauma to the back of my brain that made me blind and I'll probably never be able to see ever again. My foster parents were arrested for it and I was in the hospital until I was invited to come and live here a couple weeks ago."

After hearing what happened to Sehun everyone just sat in silence, shocked that someone would do that to a person. During the story, Luhan had started crying and finally wrapped his arms tightly around Sehun as he sobbed, filled with guilt that he hadn't been there for his best friend when the younger needed him most. After a few minutes Taemin reached out and placed his hand on top of Sehun's as a way of giving silent support.

"Sehun-kun, there's no guarantee that you will never see again." Taemin said softly not wanting to disrupt the quiet atmosphere, "If anyone can help you regain your sight it's my uncle whose one of the best doctors in the world. When we have a chance we can go see him and find out what he thinks after he examines you."

"Would he really do that?"  Sehun asked in disbelief, "I wouldn't be able to pay for it and I don't have medical insurance."

"Of course he would," Taemin replied smiling, "He would have no problem doing it pro bono either since he's done stuff like that before for people that can't pay."

At Taemin's words, Sehun couldn't help but tear up at the idea that there was someone who might be willing to help him at no cost, and at the idea that he might regain his sight, something he had resigned himself to never getting back. When Luhan saw his best friend's watery eyes, he just hugged the younger tighter in quiet support while letting his own tears continue to fall. A few minutes later Dongwoo entered the kitchen rubbing his eyes sleepily before his sock covered feet slipped out from under him sending him to the ground right next to the table practically doing the splits. For a few moments there was dead silence until everyone began laughing, Sehun joining in after Luhan explained what had happened. For the next while everyone chatted happily, while the rest of the residents filtered in to eat before everyone returned to their rooms to get ready for the day.

In the room Taemin shared with Changmin, Heechul, and Chen, there was happy laughter and teasing, minus Chen who remained silent other than the occasional glare towards the two idols. After a while, Heechul and Changmin left to head to the game room where everyone was meeting up to decide what to do for the day since nothing had been planned. As Chen went to leave, Taemin stopped him wanting to talk without the idols in the room.

"Chen hyung I'll be honest, I really want to know why you hate idols so much." Taemin said, looking the other in the eye, "There must be some reason since people don't suddenly start hating others for no reason. You don't have to tell me but I'm really curious."

"I'll tell you, but you had better not tell anyone." Chen said, continuing once Taemin promised, "You already know that I studied in China for a while, but that's only part of the story. You see, I have a best friend here in Seoul that's a couple years older than me. He's the one that encouraged me to go. We always made sure to keep in contact while I was in school since it was hard living in a foreign country without any family, although I did have my friend Tao whose family I was living with. Anyway, my friend promised that he would be at my high school graduation since we hadn't seen each other in a while and he would always talk about how excited he was to be going until about two weeks before graduation when I suddenly couldn't get in touch with him for some reason. He also never showed up at my graduation like he promised which made me really upset. A few days later I was walking around feeling sorry for myself when I bumped into some Chinese idol who was extremely rude to me, the exact opposite of how he appeared on TV. That's when I realized that idols are completely fake, and that was three years ago. The only reason I even accepted the invitation to come here was because of Tao's insistence. Now you know why I despise idols so much."

For a few minutes Taemin just sat in silence, dumbfounded at Chen's reason for hating idols.

"So you hate idols because of one bad experience where one was less than pleasant to you while you were upset about your best friend missing your high school graduation?" Taemin asked, continuing after the older male nodded, "Just because of one bad experience, you're deciding that all idols are the same. I could understand it if you encountered multiple idols that were rude. Plus, I get that you were hurt by your friend not showing up, but did you ever think that maybe something happened to him that prevented him from contacting you and going to your graduation?"

Scowling, Chen couldn't deny that the younger could be right but told him that until he had proof he wouldn't acknowledge that there could have been a reason for his best friend's absence. After their talk, two headed out to the game room where everyone was trying to decide what to do for the day. After a slightly heated debate they settled for going shopping and just exploring the area for a while before going somewhere to eat. This sparked another debate since no one could decide where they wanted to go until Chanyeol raised his hand to get everyone's attention.

"I know! Why don't we eat at the cafe Luhan hyung and I work at?" Chanyeol suggested, "The food there is really good and so are the drinks and desserts."

"Chanyeol's right." Luhan confirmed, "The cafe is pretty popular. Partly for the food and partly for the good looking guys working there."

At the twos words, everyone immediately agreed to eat at their workplace after shopping. The discussion done, everyone went to get what they needed in order to go shopping before heading to the garage where there were two eight passenger SUVs

(Garage)

(SUV one- Heechul, Hangeng, Taemin, Minho, Luhan, Sehun)

(SUV two- Kyuhyun, Sandeul, Dongwoo, Key, Chen, Jongmin)

(SUV three- Changmin, Karam, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Junsu)

Getting into the three vehicles with Heechul, Changmin, and Kyuhyun driving, everyone buckled up and waited eagerly for the three to start driving so they could start having fun shopping. When they didn't leave immediately Key started to get impatient.

"Come on! Let's get going already!"

A/N Since nobody guessed who they mysterious eighteenth resident is, here are three more hints

Hint 4- was born in 1995

Hint 5- is sometimes paired with group's maknae

Hint 6- has danced to group's song in 12cm (5in) heels

One thing I will confirm is that this person is male and will still be an idol in this story. Please place your guesses in the comments along with any ideas of what the residence of Roommate Manor should do for activities in the future.

Chapter 3: This seems like an interesting story. I'm curious though, you have a lot of characters and taemin is obviously going to be focused on, but what about the others? I know I would definitely like to hear more about sehun, but I think that's mostly because I have a thing for handicapped characters...
