Based on Deception

This is Utopia

“Do you think he has calmed down enough for another round?” Yuri stiffened at Narsha’s words.

“No.”

“Perfect, we’ll start now. Pry his eyes open, let the witch Narsha work her magic.” To this Yuri wrapped her body impossibly closer to Jaejoong’s, not letting Narsha even see him.

The idea was immediately rejected. That was fine; Narsha’s intent was only to stir up Jaejoong’s hate for Key even more. Fine, might as well draw out his hate for Jonghyun instead. How else was she to turn him against the system entirely? The world of mindless followers was the same wherever one went. To those cast into the scheme of overpowering leader and promised survival, the discovery of the past drew out a different anger, hatred that wanted to go against the absoluteness already embellished so carefully in history.

“It doesn’t matter, I can tell a story now.”

******************

This was why Key was still their leader. That man easily assembled his willing army to annihilate the disloyal men in Yoochun’s sector. They were lucky to be alive. The power displayed as Key ordered his men to burn down the houses of the poor, drop acid bombs on Yoochun’s mansion, and infect the mothers with smallpox made the nobles proud the rebels tremble in fear.

A leader keeps his command only by showing that he controls the outcome of society.

The attack happened so quickly and easily that Yoochun had no time to prepare for his own assault against the Capitol. The troops he was going to disguise as merchants and scientists were wiped out, the robotics technicians lost all their material and some had lost their knowledge of electronics in a freak radiation leak.

Wars the Kibum legacy had decreed gone before were slowly creeping up again, cracking more and more domes and causing the people to panic. There had already been an emergency evacuation with half the dome broken in. The other half had already reinforced their protection and could sustain life on its own. Yoochun and Yunho were sheltering in this area, and housing hundreds of refugees as well.

Young, blond, and happy to be of service, Kevin sewed the long gash along Yoochun’s back. He had already tended to the cut above Yunho’s eye and iced Kiseop’s aching fingers; their leader needed the most attention right now. He came in after a report that there was no way Heechul was making it back to the dome. In a quick breath he hoped Heechul’s perfect sense would keep him in the outside world instead of going to Sector 1 or their destroyed location.

The riot was really Heechul’s fault anyway. There were no secrets in Sector 7454, the reason for Heechul’s departure into the outside world stirred up trouble among the patriotic Key followers. Key’s lovers managed contact with his Commander of War and inevitably led to the destruction of their fair dome.

In hindsight, Yoochun should have seen this coming. His sector, while not rich, was much more prosperous than Junsu’s. The technology far surpassed anything Jaejoong could have produced and it added to Yoochun’s great ability to lead this revolt. It also increased the resistance of the patriots against their governor.

“Kyuhyun, report the status of the sector,” Yoochun demanded. The five other people turned their attention to the young man; even Kevin looked up from the stitches he sewed to briefly acknowledge him. Yunho lodged himself between Kangin and Shindong, using their large bodies to hold his tired one up. Dongho stood to the side of Kevin, keeping pressure on Kiseop’s arm due to fear. So young and already in the thickest part of the war.

Going through his transmitter, phone, papers, a hologram, and checking the monitors for any news, he analyzed the situation to the best of his abilities. “We are losing. Nearly a hundred people were killed by Key’s warriors. Their bodies need to be cleaned off of our streets. We will send someone to clean the blood from the water. Miss Ga-In sent in intelligence that Key is holding himself up in his room and not letting anyone but his advisor, Minho, to enter. Lastly, Yoochun sir, there is a spy among us. This was not just the work of the patriots; someone in our inner circle leaked the following mission for Heechul. Key would only interfere if he knew we were going to confront him directly.”

The room stayed in silence except for Yoochun’s huffing as Kevin stitched together a deep sting in the bottom of his back. How would they find they spy? It was too dangerous to suspect anyone and plan secretly. Someone was a liar.

*******************

The child bumped into another wall and whimpered. It wasn’t this way. He turned slowly, unsure of where to go and sauntered down another dark passageway. A beautiful man and a domineering leader watched from an observation from above. The leader cackled at every wrong turn he took in the maze, and he literally rolled on the floor in vain amusement when the test subject tried to turn the doorknobs simply attached to the wall. The beautiful man thought laughter made him a cruel man, but he laughed as well. It was something only those there would laugh at, but the blind man continued to rotate stray knobs. Jonghyun stated crying when one handle actually twisted open and opened into a brick wall, which the blind rat walked right into.

Letting out a cry, the little subject planted their onto the ground and whined for a moment, sobbing because they were no closer to the exit than they were three hours ago when they started the damn maze. The cruelest yet funniest part to this entire scenario was the instructions playing repeatedly on how to escape the mirotic halls. Their blind rat couldn’t hear it at all, deafness keeping the sound away. That was the clincher. How often do you get the chance to see a blind and deaf man try and find their way through a maze with fake door, and low ceilings?

Heechul didn’t really process what he saw. As amusing as it was, his time was strict and Key’s district was waiting for him. He was about ready to walk out, but Jonghyun pointed out an entrance opening and revealing a tall and dark male. As soon as he stepped into the room the instructions were shut off.

“It’s because he can read the vibrations of each individual letter and put them together according to the intervals between them. It is pointless to try and block his hearing when his other senses are just as sharp.” A blasting siren went off and the man raced off into the maze, ignoring all obstacles. He flew over the glass floor, ignored the treasures a greedy monster would stop to kleptomaniacally thieve. Then he reached the pots and vases, each with intricate carvings and a prominent glossy tone, and he kicked them aside without care.

“What is he doing?” Heechul hissed. His world knew of no such manifestation. There was only ugly and poor, and this idiot oaf ignored all that he was deprived of.

Jonghyun took better control of himself, but his hands twitched on the glass windowpane and tapped his foot to the rhythm of the blind man’s running. “We have two uses for our blind, test subjects or create our art.”

“So he is blind?”

“Not quite, but yes he is. The blind also don’t find what we call beautiful to be so at all. I guess it is because there is no meaning for them.” They both continued to watch the two blind men go through the maze, but Jonghyun was increasingly becoming annoyed. “This is no fun; Changmin has already passed ADX54T up. Play it,” he commanded.

Instantly, high pitches of blared into the arena and Changmin crumpled to the ground. They could hear it faintly inside and Heechul had to cover his ears to block out the pain. Jonghyun handed some silencing headphones over to the man. While Heechul recovered from the attack of sounds, Jonghyun studied his profile.

Tall, taller than him at least, shoulder length brown hair, large eyes with bags formed under them, wrinkles starting to set with age, a long neck attached to small shoulders and a long torso. This man was all legs. Jonghyun envied the perfection of his body. It wasn’t fair! He should have been more evolved and taller, stronger, senses more developed! Why did Heechul have a better body than him?

The deaf rat was able to continue, but he was still hopelessly lost. Fighting the pain overpowering his mind, Changmin stood and slowly paced down a path he had been working for the last ten minutes. Within five minutes of the distracting noise taking him down, Changmin had found the exit and was already resting in a lounge room. The other blind man still stood in a hallway of door not actually meant for opening.

“I will be leaving now.” Jonghyun replied with a grunt and continued to watch the man struggle, with the instructions playing again.

************************

“That is disgusting!” Yuri sat in Jaejoong’s lap, their legs intertwined just like their fingers, but Yuri hid her face into Jaejoong’s chest as the end of the story came, her hate for the tale obvious in the spite of her words.

Narsha lay in the tall grass and simply waited for their reaction to blow over. With neither one losing their steam, she ignored their heightened emotions and continued. “I assume you will be more cautious with your actions from now on. Of course you will not immediately abandon the cause against Key, it would be too obvious. You will betray them when they least expect it.” This got Jaejoong attention.

“Who said I believe you?” He tightly held Yuri’s quivering shoulders and pet her hair, familiarity between them.

Narsha shrugged. “Maybe you won’t betray them, but you will have to act differently. Even if you don’t believe what I have said is true, you know of it. You are a smart man Jaejoong, if this is even slightly true you will be killed for knowing it.”

“Why would they kill me for knowing?”

“Do you believe me?” Jaejoong slowly nodded. “And what do you want to do?”

Jaejoong contemplated this for only a few seconds. It wasn’t hard to come to a decision. “I want their entire government to fail and for Key to wipe them out.” Narsha let out her laugh again and startled Yuri, who only snuggled closer to Jaejoong.

“So they will kill you. Now that you understand the predicament, you will do as I say, no stupid questions asked. Always ask questions deary, but not stupid ones. First thing is first; show your alliance and willingness to Jonghyun by kissing his .” At the thought Jaejoong cringed. “You will appeal to any officers he has, that includes Changmin and his rescue squad Yesung, Donghae, Henry, and Ryeowook, Seungho and the soldiers under him like Taemin, Seungri, Chansung, and L.Joe.” Yuri hissed.

“How?”

“You have been spending a lot of time with Changmin, you must know some way to please him.” Eyes closed in deep thought, Jaejoong searched his memory.

“The boy likes eating, and he wants me to be a good addition to the army. I’m sure I could knock out two tasks by training with Taemin. A little enthusiasm never hurt anyone.” Narsha only nodded. The sun was beginning to lose its fear and braved peaking out above the buildings. Yuri was starting to doze slightly, and Jaejoong stopped petting her to not disturb his lovely.

“Good, do it as soon as we get backed. Buy him a big breakfast.” Narsha pulled Yuri up and cradled her figure in her arms. Reaching into her coat, she handed Jaejoong enough money to buy a decent meal. “Hurry ahead, coming with me will be a dead give away for what we were talked about. They hate me just as much as I hate them.” And Jaejoong scurried out, glancing back twice to make sure Narsha was following and that Yuri was safe.

Jaejoong found one of the markets and entered as soon as the store manager entered in the passcode for the doors to open. The store was a new sort of wonder for Jaejoong, he had never before seen this technology before. Rows and rows of touch screens lined the store. Unsure of what they did, and not seeing any real food, he went up to one. The touch screen had different lables on it- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, Breads, Vegetables, Dairy, Fats, Fruits, Meats, Liquids, Minerals.

The options seemed simple to follow. Jaejoong pressed the rough pad of his finger to the Breakfast button and let the options start up. An enormous list filled the page and another overwhelming moment passed where Jaejoong was absolutely clueless. Completely bewildered, he thoughtlessly chose different dishes and drinks to go together, hoping the combination would taste satisfactory. Jaejoong checked the total price, counted the money he carried, and decided to buy one more item before pressing the large BUY button on the bottom of the screen.

Where did he get the food from? The message ‘Please proceeds to the front of the store to complete the transaction and pick up your items.' He followed the advice and maneuvered his way through. Shopping was a new experience for him, and it wasn't one he wanted to live often.

Jaejoong let his purchase follow behind him in a hovering basket as he walked to Changmin's office. He didn't know if the man would be there, but he hoped at least one person was there to take the food off his hands. The main doors were unlocked, but Jaejoong didn't see anyone inside. Might as well dump the food in the kitchen. There was no doubt of the kitchen's existence, this is Changmin's place.

The kitchen had a refrigerator, a double sided sink, a high tech dishwasher (one that didn't use water but lasers instead), a fine stove, and an oven that cooked as fast as a microwave (because it used a method of microwaving). There was also a rectangular table with eight seats, three on each side and one at the heads. On the right wall was a lounging couch with a man sleeping in it. After placing the groceries on the counter, Jaejoong poked Henry in the side. The boy remained asleep.

There was no business left for Jaejoong there. He left without a goodbye, if the note he left on the basket of food didn't count, and he exited in search of the apartment Yuri lived in. He lived in. There was no way Jaejoong would leave Yuri alone without him now that they had both taken a step too deep into the war.

He had a million things to plan. How to confront Bling Bling, when to schedule a fighting lesson with Taemin, what to say when he asked Changmin to teach him the politics involved with the war. The hardest thing to think ahead for was when he was going to abandon Jonghyun and join his individual cause. After they killed Key, or before and persuade Key to act on his side? Could he do that? Was the slowly growing cunning side to Jaejoong strong enough to really change anything in the war? All Jaejoong really knew was that justice needed to be executed properly, and neither side was showing this. Neither was the Utopia they promised to be, for both were the flaw they hated. Corrupted, filled with power, abusive, destructive, and evil. Their reigns had to end.

"I know what you are thinking," a voice called out behind him, "and those thoughts will get you killed."

Towards the end I am sorry for my grammar and spelling mistakes, I had to type it up on notepad because this computer no longer has Word and I was kicked off the one that does because I'm sort of supposed to be sleeping. That is the reason the font is Times New Roman.

This chapter was going to be so much longer, but there was no way I was going to fit in all of Jaejoong's training into this chapter. I honestly don't know how some authors make their chapters so long! I wrote for two hours to get it to this length!

Let's see, was there anyone new? No, but I mentioned Ga-In again. She was one of the women Key had pleasuring him in Chapter 6- Based on Following.

Chapter 1: I'm only in the first chapter, but I was hooked already. The plot and the setting are laid out quite intriguingly. Your details of this utopian world made it convincing and realistic. Genius! And your characters are introduced in such a splendid way that I'm still reeling from shock ( dont get me wrong, it's just that hard to find good writers here). Lol.

Next chapter~

Chapter 1: You probably won't even read this, but I'll comment anyway. I think that a lot of people on AFF are so used to subscribing to the fics that have a high number of views or subscribers (just my observations), assuming that it will be good since everyone else likes it. In the process, a lot of people miss out on some really good fics that haven't been given a chance. I started your story, and it is extremely enticing (this plot is a refreshing change from the usual cliched plots) - it's mind boggling as to how fics like this are passed over while others with atrocious grammar or undeveloped characters gain so many readers. Anyway, sorry for my long comment, just wanted to let you know that you're a good writer.

I-I just need to kick you right here and now.

THIS IS SO AMAZING, SO MIND-BLOWING, SO BOGGLING TO COMPREHEND THAT I CANNOT EVEN SPEAK COHERENTLY AS OF NOW.

I will kick you for writing such an amazing story and keeping me in the dark, hidden from the wonders of this fascinating story. Okay just kidding, I won't kick you but you got me so stunned when I just started the first chapter. It was literally something I had never seen in a fanfiction before. The concept itself is so deep that this should become a novel. Actually, it reminds me a bit of the book "The Giver". It wasn't the same but I remembered an ideal society where freedom of expression did not exist and the system was terrifyingly rigid.

The fact that you were able to create an ideal society of your own to integrate into the futuristic world is jaw-dropping. Arranged marriages, the thick barricade between the rich and the poor, the clash between rigid and unchangeable ideals and free and creative thoughts...

I just need so much more of this story right now.

This story is simply amazing and deserves to be featured a thousand times. You have taken fanfiction writing to a whole new level. Among the many same repeated stories of cheesy puppy love, this truly is mind-blowing to read.

Update soon or I will not forgive you- I mean, update soon because I NEED THIS among the many fanfictions I've read that is just...incomparable to such greatness.
