Based on Celebration

This is Utopia

Residue stuck to his moist fingers, making him feel like the dirty dog he was. Float riders kicked at his cage and he growled like a mad canine. They only laughed at his misery. It was their giggles that angered Junsu. It was their constant punishing that stirred his spitefulness. It was their love of Jonghyun that drove him crazy. Junsu cowered in a corner of his cage to escape their laughing eyes and to console himself with the solitude. He had waited weeks to see sunlight again, and the light shone on him during a terrible celebration.

He was Jonghyun’s throne. That man sat on his cage like it was his pedestal to show off with pride. Bling Bling paraded around the city waving his precious hand at him mindless followers. Junsu would have spit on his if it wasn’t for the muzzle over his mouth. His actions only caused Jonghyun to laugh even more.

Taemin poked the rambunctious dog, earning another growl from him. It was Taemin’s duty to subdue any creature that could possibly follow that monster called Key and disobeys the master, Jonghyun, who was grinning like a fool at the clash between his two pets and let the antics continue for awhile more before he stopped Junsu with a harsh gaze. “Stop little Duck. Don’t make me subdue you again.” His words strong with command and firm with wit, Jonghyun looked down on the mutt.

The intoxicating feeling of being awake but having no emotion or sense of reality was the worst thing Junsu could imagine going through, and the threat was for it to happen again, proving that Junsu knew what he was fearing. Despite Junsu’s early upbringing, he was not familiar with the abuse that Jonghyun afflicted to him. Even the punishments he dealt to rule breakers in the Sector were more humane in comparison. He knew, or at least he thought he knew, that being exiled would mean immediate death without pain. Being tortured continuously could drive a man crazy.

The protest in his eyes could not be silenced and Jonghyun took note of the glares. “How does it feel to be on the other side of the fence now?” Junsu flipped his hide from side to side in response, his muzzled mouth giving off grunts. The disobedience of this pet urged Jonghyun to find out the truth. He couldn’t just claim to be understanding and accepting if he judged by the cover. It was this thinking that would lose his wavering followers like Jaejoong. The stupid man still couldn’t find any real faults in the society he used to reside in, even if he hated it with intense animosity. Jonghyun would need to kiss a few more babies before he had captured the man entirely.

The king reached through the bars of the cage and removed the demeaning tool to allow Junsu to tell his story. With the chance, Junsu spat in Jonghyun’s direction but failed epically due to his dehydration and other obvious weaknesses. The drool dribbled down his chin forcing him to wipe his mouth on his shoulder, his hands being locked together. The extensive movement caused him to scrape (finally) healing wounds open and sting unbearably. “Ah!” Junsu gasped in pain.

“Careful now, infection can lead to death.” The two shared a mutual joke.

“We both know you will be the death of me and that is that. You say Key treats people like crap when you don’t even know how to welcome a guest to your home.” Jonghyun’s interest peaked; he knew he had made the right decision by allowing the thing to speak.

“Oh, what makes you say that? What could Key have possibly done for you to love him so much?”

“What have you done for the people?” Jonghyun denied any questions in his formal tone. With glazed eyes, Junsu watched the audience to the parade, their voices drowning out the music he wasn’t allowed to hear. He would have hated it anyway, for Jaejoong helped compose it. “Key is the reason I am alive to today. When I was just another starved child he took me up and raised me like a father should.”

His words, not a lie in them, shook Jonghyun internally. The idea that a demon could show compassion riled him up and got him excited for an argument. It was not possible in his head.

Junsu shot him down before he could even start. “You have the misconception that Key is an evil man, but you have never met him so you wouldn’t know. He is wonderful and giving. When he found me by a popular clothing chain store he expressed pity and immediately gave me a home and the knowledge and ability to grow.” Junsu glowed with loving. “His kindness was not over. The governor of a poor sector was killed by a rival leader and conflict in the distant domes grew and he needed someone to take the place there. He chose me, someone he could trust, to teach the rebels a lesson. He chose me, just a man with a poor background to insight his rule. He chose me, someone that believed in him.”

He couldn’t block them out. They had to be lies; it was impossible for Key to have a benevolent side to him. What part of that little story showed his rationality to sleeping around and keeping the sectors poor? Junsu didn’t describe a man bent on depriving the few that wouldn’t follow him, only rewarding the poor that loved him. The simple tale drove Jonghyun mad. The thoughts he had been taught could not be wrong. Junsu was lying!

Feed him scraps and let the dog be grateful.

‘Only stupid men would love Key.’

“Who is that?” Junsu pointed out a figure in the crowd. The man stared blankly at Jonghyun’s float, no happiness or sadness showing. He walked slowly beside it, keeping up with it like a good follower, but he never cheered for the holy man. The man was more out of place than Siwon, who was sitting next to the hospital with Yuri and Jaejoong.

Jonghyun stared out into the sea that was ready surge, not finding the face Junsu was commenting on. Just as he was about to call Junsu stupid, he saw the crooked grin of someone he didn’t have knowledge of. Jonghyun hated to admit it, but there was an intruder in their world. He couldn’t be a stray survivor, Changmin and Yesung would have found them by now. He wasn’t someone from another city; Jonghyun had the faces of everyone living outside the domes memorized.

“Taemin!”

“Yes sir!”

“Tell Seungho that it has started. Catch the man.” Jonghyun was calm and never let any fear show. If anything, he welcomed the presence of this stranger.

Taking from Jonghyun’s confidence, Taemin contacted one of his few superiors. Speaking the words, “Seungho…” The young soldier recognized the man from years before and he was slightly surprised to see him again, but he did not understand his significance there.

“Make sure he doesn’t meet Siwon.”

***********************

Happiness is what he smelled. Prosperity is what he saw. They had no hopes, for they already had everything they ever wanted. The perfect world that Key always wanted was right in front of him. Kim Kibums always kept their vision real. Sector 1 displayed that Key was not a total bullter. Nobody worked, except for the government officials, and everyone leisurely spent their days ing and gorging their heads off.

This is the life of Utopia!

“Lord Key! Please touch my son!” Key complied by raising his arm in the direction of one of his followers. The mother squealed and cooed her chirping son, another child that would live a happy life. It was very simple to ease the minds of the ignorant. The day of Sunday, when Key was worshiped as God, District 1 went crazy with happiness. The hope they already had skyrocketed and infected the districts even in the far off land of 9726 and up. While some districts were losing their faith with the Almighty, others went ecstatic to even be thought of by Key.

“My lord! What are you going to do with the blasphemous rebelling districts?” An uproar of dedicated followers shunned the beliefs of the evil. To answer this, Key’s face transformed from a greeting ruler to one of giving sympathy to those that needed it. The wave he was partially through stopped altogether and the action of tears falling caught the crowd’s attention instead.

“It is my duty to punish them; it is your duty to tell them why and help them learn the right ways again.” The hand they ate of offered more treats and the beloved Key lovers erupted in more cheers for their Almighty. Key turned to Minho, sitting behind him in his carriage, and whispered highly confidential words to him. “Give the people what they want. If they want a show of tears and remorse, start the water works and pass out the tissues. It doesn’t matter what the topic is, I will make them believe every word that comes out of my mouth.” Key finished his demeaning of his people by stating he didn’t care about matters in the far off land.

The weekly celebration of Key continued into the food section of town. Here Key ordered the best of meats to be sent to his palace and the finest of wines to be brewed for him. Every day honored to him meant free presents from various shops. Would the candy shop be generous with their offerings? Of course they would be, they were always willing for their God, but also because whatever Key demanded they had to provide. He was actually in the mood from some well seasoned bread first and directed his coach to a rather popular bakery he visited frequently.

The carriage settled haughtily in front of the bakery, and a servant of Key’s, Ricky, rushed out to ‘buy’ the bread for his master. The Lord and his adviser watched as the session of follows slowly caught up to them. The chanting grew louder and Key heard the boring sound of their music. Their music was always the same. “Praise the Lord, the Almighty Lord. Our master Key has saved us!” He needed something new! The stupid people were not nearly entertaining enough! Key tried to hear beauty in their melodies, but it was the same banging and crashing as always. To make matters worse, a foreign slamming of a forgotten dumpster made the hymn sound even worse. Eyes furious, Key spotted the disturbances. A young boy was digging through the trash.

“Young man! What is your name?” A poor peasant in ‘his’ district? How dare this boy embarrass him that way! Only the rich could enjoy life around Key! If anyone visited and saw an urchin digging through garbage lies would spread and Key would be defaced. The power he had built would collapse instantly, just like those damned rebels wanted. That child would have to go!

The boy tried to hide his fear in a confused cry. “I have no name sir, but the baker always calls me Xander.” He couldn’t tell the full story of his name. The thief Xander, short for “Alexander.’ Key would have him shot for committing a crime in HIS district. Xander held the dark truth to his being inside and hoped to he spared from punishment for simply being homeless. “My Lord Key, I am Alexander.”

Key raised a suspicious eyebrow. “How old are you kid?” Xander trembled as the Almighty questioned him further. The boy wasn’t accustomed to interacting with people; the stress his Lord caused had him on the brink of fainting. He couldn’t even answer the question. He didn’t know his date of birth or how old he was. His age? Old enough that his voice was settling in a deeper tone but was still squeaky and cracked at times. “Your age boy!”

“I’m fourteen my lord! Xander prayed to the spirits of past Kim Kibums that he would not be killed for lying.

It startled Alexander to see the Almighty Key grinning to his advisor, Minho. “Get in my carriage, Xander, my son would love to have another friend his age. Little Kibum is twelve, you will treat him well.”

Alexander trembled as he complied with his master’s request and climbed into the back of Key’s ride. Key smile sincerely while Minho shook his head in annoyance. It was another child Key had randomly picked off the streets. It happened often since the man hated to see poverty and loved children. Just after the newest addition to the collection settled, Ricky came out with three paper bags stuffed with fresh loaves. He packed the bread right next to Alexander, ignoring him for a moment as he finished his job, then finally glancing up and shooting a reassuring look to him.

“This will be the best thing to have ever happened to you.” Even if Ricky was too old to play with Kibum, at sixteen, and too young to govern a failing district, he was still blessed with a life too extraordinary for normal followers to understand.

***********************

Jaejoong was suddenly alert. The music he had helped composed was off. Every third beat was three pitches too high, like it was a secret code for someone to pick up on. No one else seemed to notice though, and this worried Jaejoong even more. He couldn’t fathom any reason to change the music number unless it was really a signal for something to happen. He eyed the tops of all the buildings to see anymore signs, watched the expressions of the float goers, studied the faces of the parade watchers, but he saw nothing out of the ordinary.

The woman he still considered as his wife, Yuri, clutched his arm to calm him down. “Please Jaejoong, you can’t hear any stupid messages from Junsu anymore, the chip is dead. You aren’t hearing anything at all! Calm down please.” Jaejoong shook his head in denial. He knew something was off.

“I can’t help it, darling, something is going to happen! The only thing standing out is us and the other man right there.” Jaejoong tilted his head towards the man, like Jaejoong and Yuri, shorter than the colonist. Changmin had explained that the dome slowed down the rate of mutation slightly so everyone inside was shorter than those outside. This fact allowed his search party to easily track stray exiles. Being from the domes was the only explanation for the man next to Jaejoong. “He is like us, he is not from here.” Yuri took a peek too, but she was not convinced.

“You’re over thinking this Jaejoong.”

Jaejoong had not been off at all. Seconds later a pink haired soldier shot out from the crowd and tackled both him and the other short male. Another soldier with wild curls joined the arrest. It was an immediate black out on Jaejoong’s part, but Yuri watched the other male struggle a little bit more, shouting profanities at the top of his lungs.

“This is L-Joe, Chansung and I have apprehended two males from the other world. We will bring both in for assessment. Seungri is in pursuit of the preacher.”

Under L-Joe’s trained body Jaejoong’s unconscious body was suffocating. Yuri stared in horror as her love’s body convulsed from abuse.

“Stop it! He is sick! Get Leeteuk! He is going to die!” Hopefully she was just being dramatic.

Long A/N warning. This fic has greatly been affected by novels such as Tale of Two Cities, 1984, Animal Farm, and more. The political part of my story is really influenced by those novels, even if it has been awhile since I have read them. My writing style has taken the most damage. Dickens got me used to everything being a huge metaphor. Like sea rising, from TOTC. In case you didn't notice, this ENTIRE STORY has been in allegory-metaphor form. I'm sorry if it is hard to read or understand, or if it is just plain boring. There are some moments when I write this and go, "THIS IS THE MOST BORING EVER!" I feel sorry for my readers, but this is the tone I have created.

I don't know how much longer this is going to be, or what is really going to happen next. Next chapter is sort of going to be a recap of everything that happened then we will go back to the way... anyway, please pay attention to all the chapter titles. I know this story hasn't really showed much of what a Utopia is and that is the name of the story. The titles make sense, Utopia is based on survival, impressions, extinction, celebration, possibilities, time- all those things work. You just have to connect how the title goes with the chapter and how the chapter reflects a Utopia. I'm trying really hard with this fic for everything to be obvious but a complete secret if you don't think about it.

New Characters- From Chapter 10, Eli from U-KISS. Chapter 11, Ricky and L-Joe from Teen Top (Pink hair from Supa Luv). Seungho from MBLAQ, Alexander and Kim Kibum, former members of U-KISS... NO, WE STILL LOVE THEM! Little Kibum, Key's son is the U-KISS Kibum. Key's father is the Super Junior Kibum. Chansung from 2PM. Finally, Seungri from BIGBANG. L-Joe, Chansung, and Suengri are soldiers like Taemin, while Seungho is their superior officer.

In case you didn't catch that, it was Heechul that entered the colony again. Taemin recognized him. He can't meet Siwon because Siwon is an avid believer in the true God and Heechul thinks it's a bunch of crap so they will fight. Sorry SiChul fans.

Chapter 1: I'm only in the first chapter, but I was hooked already. The plot and the setting are laid out quite intriguingly. Your details of this utopian world made it convincing and realistic. Genius! And your characters are introduced in such a splendid way that I'm still reeling from shock ( dont get me wrong, it's just that hard to find good writers here). Lol.

Next chapter~

Chapter 1: You probably won't even read this, but I'll comment anyway. I think that a lot of people on AFF are so used to subscribing to the fics that have a high number of views or subscribers (just my observations), assuming that it will be good since everyone else likes it. In the process, a lot of people miss out on some really good fics that haven't been given a chance. I started your story, and it is extremely enticing (this plot is a refreshing change from the usual cliched plots) - it's mind boggling as to how fics like this are passed over while others with atrocious grammar or undeveloped characters gain so many readers. Anyway, sorry for my long comment, just wanted to let you know that you're a good writer.

I-I just need to kick you right here and now.

THIS IS SO AMAZING, SO MIND-BLOWING, SO BOGGLING TO COMPREHEND THAT I CANNOT EVEN SPEAK COHERENTLY AS OF NOW.

I will kick you for writing such an amazing story and keeping me in the dark, hidden from the wonders of this fascinating story. Okay just kidding, I won't kick you but you got me so stunned when I just started the first chapter. It was literally something I had never seen in a fanfiction before. The concept itself is so deep that this should become a novel. Actually, it reminds me a bit of the book "The Giver". It wasn't the same but I remembered an ideal society where freedom of expression did not exist and the system was terrifyingly rigid.

The fact that you were able to create an ideal society of your own to integrate into the futuristic world is jaw-dropping. Arranged marriages, the thick barricade between the rich and the poor, the clash between rigid and unchangeable ideals and free and creative thoughts...

I just need so much more of this story right now.

This story is simply amazing and deserves to be featured a thousand times. You have taken fanfiction writing to a whole new level. Among the many same repeated stories of cheesy puppy love, this truly is mind-blowing to read.

Update soon or I will not forgive you- I mean, update soon because I NEED THIS among the many fanfictions I've read that is just...incomparable to such greatness.
