Taking Painful Chances
After the Rain...Be Happy'Some people are just too blind to see how lucky they are, I might be one of them. For just once, I wanted to know what it felt to be someone undeserving love. Will there actually be a he who'd endure until the end and prove to me that love conquers all isn't just a meaningless saying?'
When I opened my eyes, I failed to register my surrounding. Just what the hell happened yesterday? Let's see...I went to KBS Radio's office....I saw....him...Eunhyuk. That ...called me 'Unnie'....and asked me to go on a double date....eugh......
"But....where am I?" Ouch, my head hurts and the question just blurted out of my mouth, like an idiot.
"Wow....looks like somebody partied hard last night. Gyuri-ya, you're in your own room, of course. On your own bed."
".....Seungyeon-ah...." After a few seconds...I finally registered that snarky kid.
"Thank goodness. For a second there I thought you had forgotten who I am. Your clueless look is scaring me."
I tried to smile despite the constant pain in my head. "I'm.....o...kkay..." I knew I sounded unconvincing, because Seungyeon suddenly pulled my head into her hug.
"Gyuri-ya, are you really okay? You know you can always share any problem with me, right?"
"Seungyeon-ah...you're suffocating me..."
"Oups. Sorry.." She retreated, embarassed for her cheesy act, I'm sure. It's okay, Seungyeonie...I know you'd always be there to listen, I just didn't want to share these..unnescessary burden with you, you've had enough on your plate.
Jiyoung then entered the room, holding a tray carefully and handed the glass on it to me.
"Unnie, drink this. I'm not sure if it's gonna work but...aish, just drink it unnie. Let's experiment, Heehee.."
Too tired to argue and too thirsty actually, I took the glass from her hand and emptied it before realizing...
"Eeew, what drink is this??"
"Lemonade with honey, ginger and spice, unnie. This is your friend's recipe. Don't blame me..."
"Oh..ya, Gyuri..you didn't remember? The friend who brought you home, left a note for us. What a weirdo. Left after ringing the bell like a dozen times."
"A note?"
"Yeah, Jiyoungie...give that note to Gyuri."
Me eyes widened as I read the detailed do's and don't's in the note.
- Don't forget to change her into comfortable clothes and put blanket on her.
- Place a wet towel on her forehead. Her temperature is high.
- Don't ask her too many questions in the morning. She's really tired.
- When she woke up, make her a drink of fresh warm lemonade, mixed with honey, ginger and spices. That'd help her to feel better. Use the ingredients from the plastic bag here.
- Make sure to......
I couldn't finish reading the note. It was too long, and I felt tears had already gathered in my eyes. Now I remembered going to that cafe last night.
"Who actually sent me home?"
Seungyeon and Jiyoung didn't reply to my question. They both only exchanged puzzled looks with each other.
--------------
"Ya....are you sure we should do this? You're the one who's supposed to go on We Got Married. Not me..."
"Hyung. I'm sorry You know I can't get married with somebody else, right? Plus you're the only one I could think of that's so eager to get married already."
"Why didn't you just tell her? I'm doing two favours for you now, yah!"
"Until now, I still didn't know the reason we broke up. Until I found the answer, I couldn't just let go, but I couldn't tell her either. She's so....cold and detached. She even said she found someone new."
"Well, for you....it's not a surprise, really. She could get any guy she wanted you know?"
"But something inside me tells me that she's still......wait. I think I heard somebody at the door. Hanging up now."
"Yeah, good luck on your plan."
The door clicked open, she entered, filling the entire room with her light glowing around her.
