Chapter 3
Maybe TomorrowRyeowook's depressed mood makes a noticable improvement. Sungah makes plans for her and Ryeowook's relationship.
Maybe Tomorrow: Part 1
Friendship:
The next morning Ryeowook nearly jumped out of bed. He couldn't remember the last time he felt so happy. He got dressed quickly and ran into the kitchen.
"Good morning." His mother almost laughed.
"It is, isn't it?" Ryeowook grinned. "It is a good morning."
He sat and ate his breakfast in a hurry. After all, the sooner he left, the sooner he'd get to school. School really wasn't so bad, not as long as Sungah was there.
"You seem happy this morning." His mother smiled. 'Hey, slow down. I don't want you to get stomach pain."
"I am happy, mom. Isn't that great?" Ryeowook stood and ran for the door. He threw off his slippers and put on his shoes. "I'm going to school mom! Oh, and when I get back we can talk about me going to the performing arts school."
Before his mother could reply, he left in a hurry to get to school as soon as possible.
"What was that all about?" Ryeowook's father asked as he got ready for work.
"I don't know." Ryeowook's mother replied as she put things away in the kitchen.
"Teenagers." His dad scoffed as he sat down.

Ryewowook had never felt so happy seeing his school building. Trying to relax, he walked up the stairs and quickly, but calmly, made his way to his classroom. Sungah would probably get annoyed if he looked too anxious. Just remain calm and don't draw attention. He sat in his seat and waited. Hardly anyone was here yet. Maybe he got here a bit too early.
Patiently, he sat and waited for her. One by one more students filled the seats. Still no Sungah. Occasionally, he glanced at her seat to see if he somehow missed her walk in (which would be impossible. He could spot her a mile away). Still no Sungah.
The first class had started. Still no Sungah. Could it be that she wasn't going to be here today? But she was always here. Everyday. Maybe something had happened. What if she got into a terrible car crash? What if she's dying from a fatal disease? No, that wasn't possible. Ryeowook made his mind be realistic and convinced himself she was just fine. But what if she wasn't?
By the time the second class had started, Ryeowook became disappointed. He gave up. There will be no Sungah today. Maybe he spoke too soon. As soon as he thought of giving up, Sungah walked into the classroom.
"I'm sorry I'm late." She bowed apologetically.
She was lucky this teacher was nice. He gestured for her to sit down. Instead of going to her usual seat, she walked and sat right next to Ryeowook. Everyone gasped, making Ryeowook sink into his chair. Kim Sungah was sitting next to him in class, not caring if anyone had anything rude to say.
"You'll get made fun of for this." Ryeowook whispered.
"I don't care." Sungah whispered back. "You're lucky I'm sitting here. I'm mad at you."
"W-Why?" Ryeowook's eyes widened.
What did he do wrong? Was it something he said yesterday? Was she losing interest in him? Not that she had any, but still.
"You'll find out when you read my note." Sungah said as she opened her notebook.
"W-What note?" Ryeowook whispered.
"This one." Sungah took a folded piece of paper out of her notebook and handed it to him. "Don't read it until you get home."
He nodded his head and stuck the note into his pocket.
When English came around, Ryeowook never felt more confused. He looked at the words on his paper, having no clue what they meant. What did "house" mean again? Did "like" go at the end of the sentence? The beginning? Middle? Why was his introduction the only thing he managed to master? What was "school" in English?
"Do you need help?" Sungah popped Ryeowook from his confused thoughts.
"Please." Ryeowook begged.
Sungah giggled. Something about Ryeowook being clueless and begging for help made him quite cute.
"Say, 'I go to school in Incheon.' " Sungah smiled.
"Can you say it slower?" Ryeowook frowned.
"I. Go. To. School. In. Incheon." Sungah repeated. Her accent was so good.
"I, go to, school in, Incheon." Ryeowook repeated Sungah slowly.
"See? You're okay." She smiled. "Your pronunciation is perfect, you just need to work on your little memory."
"Little?" Ryeowook agreed that he could be forgetful, but still, she acknowledged all of his little ticks.
"Yes, little. That's okay, I used to be very forgetful too."
"Well, your pronunciation is still better than mine."
"How so?"
"You sound more native than me."
"Well, I sure hope so." Sungah laughed. "I guess that's good to hear."
As Ryeowook continued to study, Sungah suddenly reached for Ryeowook's hand under their desks. She held his hand and didn't let go. Ryeowook lifted his head at her touch and looked under the table. She was holding his hand. Kim Sungah was actually holding his hand. He looked at Sungah, who was
