NINE
"Curious"

She walks inside the staff’s room and starts changing her clothes. She can’t seem to forget how that Jae Wook looks at her. “Is he someone that I’m supposed to know?” She mumbles then shakes the thoughts off her head.

She ties her hair into a neat pony tail then wears the vest of the convenience store. She steps outside the staff’s room then sees one customer standing by the cashier already. He’s facing the front door and Hana could only see his back. “I’m so sorry for making you wait.” she looks straight at the small screen of the cash register ready to scan the stuff he took.

“One look from you, please?” Hana quickly recognizes his voice. She looks up then meets his gaze and that smile again. How can she forget the voice she just heard a while ago? It’s Jae Wook again and he’s standing just right in front of her. “Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something wrong with my face?” he asks.

“Uhm, Sorry. I’ll ring your stuff.” Hana tries acting like he’s just a normal customer though her tongue is itching to ask him some questions. She wants to know from Kai because right now, she needs to trust him and hear everything from him first.

Hana also promised to Kai that she will never get close to him so she needs to finish it as soon as possible.

Noticing he points the cigarettes behind her back, Hana looks up at him. I’m not allowed to sell cigarettes to minors. She just scans the cup of ramyun. *He smokes.* “That would be $*.**.”

Jae Wook grins in amusement. He rests his palms on top of the counter as he hums and pretends that he can’t find his wallet, obviously taking his time.

*How did he know that I work here? No, Hana. Don’t say another word to him or ask anything.* she looks up at him and waits for him to find his ‘missing’ wallet.  

“Oh, it’s here.” He innocently smiles and only if Hana doesn’t know him, she might like his cute smile. “Have you eaten dinner?” he suddenly asks but she didn’t answer. She slides his card and gestures him to sign on the small tablet to complete his payment.

Hana puts his stuff inside the plastic bag and hands it to him together with his card. He takes out the cup of ramyun and walks to where the hot water dispenser is. She follows him with his gaze and sighs heavily. *Don’t tell me he’s eating here.*

Jae Wook tilts his head look at the machine. “Oh, Miss. I think your dispenser is not working.”

Hana closes her eyes in disbelief and trudges her way to where Jae Wook is and checks the machine, looking if it’s on while Jae Wook stares at her with an amused smile. “Let me do it.”
