SEVENTEEN

Even though it’s weekend, Hana still works at the convenience store. She checks the snacks in one aisle, listing and counting the snacks that are displayed, writing it on the paper and she remembers Jaewook.

“You should not let Kai fool you.”

She sighs and shakes the thoughts out of her head.

The bells inside the store rings and she walks to the counter. Her eyes meets with Kai who’s smiling at her. “Hey, just checking on you. Until what time do you need to work?”

“Actually, I need to work until six in the evening. , right? Are you going to practice today?” she asks and Kai nods his head. “Yeah, it’s an important competition, right?”

“I’ll pick you up after my practice. I’ll make sure to be here before six in the evening.” He reaches to pat Hana’s head and she blushes faintly before playfully slapping his arm off. “What? Does that make your heart flutter?”

Hana frowns and shoos him away. “As if! That won’t happen. Go away. I need to work.”

“Fine, fine.” Kai chuckles and waves his hand as he leaves the store and when he’s far away, Hana places her hand over her beating chest while trying to calm herself.

After a couple of hours, Hana receives a message from Kai.

Hana types her message, but then she receives another message from her co-worker who’s supposed to change shifts with her that she’s stuck in traffic and will be late. She waits for almost two more hours before her co-workers comes running inside the store.

“I’m so sorry, Hana. You can go home now.”

“No problem.”

She smiles and changes her clothes and she notices the time in her phone. It’s already eight in the evening. Good thing Kai will not walk her home tonight because she needs to go to her new part-time job.

“Mr. Jaewook, I’ve got the report from the private investigator regarding the vehicle that almost killed that girl.” A guy in black suit said. Jaewook who offered a white rose on Hana’s brother opens his eyes and asks for the report.

Jaewook opens the folder as he starts walking out of the columbarium and his eyes rounded in surprise. “Is this for real?”
