Chaeyoung made no move to escape the point of the arrow as Siwon lunged it towards . She knew Siwon always wanted to kill her, even as they were children. Siwon always sought to somehow injure her but now, he rather her dead than alive. She didn’t understand why her brother despised her so much, but she learned to deal with it.   As the tip pierced the first layer of her skin, a unexpected force separated the two. Siwon crashed onto the opposite wall while Chaeyoung shifted slightly back on the bed. She looked at the door way to see their mother standing there, her eyes maddened into fury.    “Siwon!” She bellowed, storming towards her son and peeling him away from the wall. He was shocked by her interference. “M-Mum.” He gaped at his mother with wide, unsettled eyes. Slap.   Chaeyoung gasped as their mother back-handed Siwon across the cheek, leaving a burning red mark of fingers on his porcelain cheek. “How dare you try to kill your sister!” She reprimanded.    Siwon anger dissipated, and he looked at his mother in surprise. “But-“   “She’s my only daughter and your only sister, we can’t lose her.” Her eyes were glassy but her voice was firm and stern. She was disappointed with Siwon, and if he succeeded in killing Chaeyoung, Haeun would be distraught, despite the lack of feelings she expressed.    Siwon pursed his lips into a thin line. He contained his anger and shock before he clenched his fists and jaw, exiting the room with smooth steps.   Once Siwon disappeared from sight, Haeun wrapped her arms around Chaeyoung. “Goodness, are you alright?” She asked with a worry voice. She reluctantly stepped away from her daughter and gave her a concerned look, “Next time, try and defend yourself. Don’t just let him or anyone else point a weapon at you, let alone use it against you.” She fumed in a somewhat calm manner.   Chaeyoung sighed, and ruffled her red hair. Her mother did this often. One second she was a loathing, grim monster in disguise, and in the next moment, she was caring and feigning actions a mother would do. She was bipolar.   “I’m sorry for what Siwon was planning to do.” She apologised, looking anything but sorry. She only said it to make it seem like she cared or atleast faked her interest of care towards her daughter.    “Inform me if something like that ever happens again.” She said and strolled out the door, with a fluid flick of her long black dress.    Chaeyoung got up from the bed, feeling heavy and unhappy. She needed to find a place to escape the palace. She examined the big window of her bedroom. It was large and big enough for her to jump through without her having to bend. She shoved the curtains aside, preparing to leap outside. The images of her beloved family members consumed her thoughts.
