Chapter 20

“It’s my fault for inviting those magicians.” Tiffany said softly, between her sobs. Her face was as pale as snow, the tears glittering on her eyelashes.

“I was thinking just now. It was just fate, Tiffany. Even if it wasn’t you, someone would have found the way to kidnap Minki or try to hurt us.” He said firmly, as he saw her about to shake her head to deny it. His hand grabbed her shoulders, shaking them gently, “Stop blaming yourself.”

“I want to believe that, Jaejoong Oppa, but I just.” Her voice faltered in shock as he pulled her roughly into his arms, hugging her so tightly that she caught her breath.

Her heart fluttered intensely as he leaned down & whispered into her ear, his warm breath tickling her pale skin, “Believe in us, Tiffany. Don’t blame yourself. I can’t stand seeing you like this. I promise to bring him back.”

She nodded in silence.

He wipe away the tears on her face, “I love you, my princess, & I don’t want to see you cry. I love our son, too. I don’t want something bad to happen to him. I’m going to bring him back as soon as I can. Do you trust me?” A slow, incredulous smile spread on Tiffany’s lips, a sparkle came back into her eyes, “I do, Oppa. I do with all my heart.”

“Thank you.”

Jaejoong was worried about Minki, although, he wouldn’t have admitted it to Tiffany. However, he couldn’t show his emotion if he didn’t want to create more distressful feelings for Tiffany.

The phone rang.

They exchanged worried looks. Silence filled the atmosphere for a few seconds before Jaejoong took the initiative to answer it, “Stay here, Fany. I will go get the phone.” He closed the door & took the receiver outside the room.

“Hello.”

“Kim Jaejoong?”

“Speaking.”

There was a laugh from the other line, “Glad to talk to you in person, my friend.”

“Who are you?”

“Not important. I have your kid. A handsome boy actually.”

Jaejoong’s heart stopped beating for a second. Taking in another deep breath, he tried to control his voice, “What do you want?”

“Did your wife tell you about the money?”

Jaejoong thought for a moment, “Yes, but I won’t pay you any cent of it.”

“Your wife has given me her promise. You lost, Kim.”

“She has to ask for my permission & I don’t agree.” He said, glancing at his fossil aeroflite three-hand date leather watch. These careless acts weren’t Tiffany’s style; there were more emotion involved than rational thought.

“No police, Kim.”

“Too late. I have already called them.” Jaejoong bluffed.

There was a pause.

“Alright, Kim. Let’s see what happens with your little boy.”

“Don’t you dare.”

The man on the other line laughed again, “You want this, Kim. Take the package outside the door & you will know.”

“Hey, you listen.” However, the line was cut off before Jaejoong could finished his words, ‘What did that rotten man do to Minki?’ Jaejoong asked himself shakily. Did he do the right thing as a father? How could he gain Tiffany’s trust again, if he failed her this time? No. He assured himself. He would win this situation. He wouldn’t make a terrible mistake by challenging the kidnapper. God would help him.

The package.

He suddenly remembered that word. The man on the phone said he had delivered a package for him. Was it Minki? He shook his head. It wouldn’t be that easy. What was it? He blew out his breath. He hadn’t had any food since this morning & his stomach had started to growl.

He walked towards the main door. Sitting on the doorstep was a small box with a bow on the top. He read
