Chapter 2

Tiffany stared at the familiar figure walking towards her with teary-eyed.

“Jaejoong Oppa.” She said to herself bitterly.

He looked older, lines of strain carved into his face. Now, Tiffany could bring herself to look at him properly as he took a seat in front of her. He was elegant as always in a guess faux leather black jacket but his eyes were cloudy & misty which reminded her of the first time they had met.

“Hello, Fany.” He said abruptly, startling her.

She bit her pale pink heart-shaped lips, “Hello.”

“You look.” He paused, clearing his throat, “Look well & beautiful. More beautiful than I have been imagining for the last few years.”

“Thanks.” She tried to smile, “& you look fabulous, too.”

He curved on his heart-stopping smile, “Do you think so?”

She couldn’t hold back her smile, ‘Oppa is handsome. In fact, he is more than handsome.’ She said to herself, ‘He is spectacular.’

The silence which followed this remark brought colors to her oval-shaped face as she remembered the night they cuddled in each other arms. Her eyes turned hot again. It was the sweetest memory in her life.

“How did you find me?”

He grinned, “It’s a secret.” His grin widened, “But I have one regret.”

Tiffany arched her straight eyebrows.

“Why I couldn’t find you earlier? My private investigator is useless.” He stared at her deeply, “You have changed your last name to Kim, that’s why nobody could find you.”

“I have the right to uses my real name, haven't I? My father is Kim Hyunjun. I have Kim blood in my veins.” Sighing deeply, Jaejoong looked at the cup on the table, “Why, Fany? Why didn’t you give your address? Why did you do that? Why are you hiding from me?”

“You found me.” It was a short sentence to answer his few questions. She took a sip of her orange juice.

“Yes, finally but why?”

“Don’t you want to have a cup of coffee, Oppa?” Tiffany tried to avoid his questioning eyes.

“No, it’s fine.”

Tiffany was sitting in the cafe, near her school after he waited for her in front of the kindergarten where she continued her job there. After a long argument, she finally agreed to have a chat with him.

She carefully placed the cup back down on the table, her movement deliberate & slow.

He looked at Tiffany. Her face was expressionless. He couldn’t figure out why she had tried to avoid him. None of the reasons he had come up with really made any sense unless she was involved with some other men.

Other man? Jaejoong’s jaw tightened.

His eyes spotted something. It would explain it. She was seeing somebody else. He looked at her left hand & saw a diamond three-stone ring in 14k white gold on her long ring finger. Suddenly, his heart stopped beating, ‘Married?! Tiffany is married?! Oh, god! I’m too late!’ He screamed out, inside his heart. A hot tear suddenly stung his eyes.

“Are you married, Fany?” His voice was trembling, even though he had tried so hard to hide it. He could feel his body shaky, afraid of Tiffany’s answer.

She smiled lightly without looking at him. She let him make his own judgment. Lowering her eyes to pretend looking at her wedding ring, she sighed deeply.

"Are you happy, Fany?”

She nodded weakly. Forcing on a beautiful smile, Tiffany turned her head to face him, “Of course I am. I have two kids already, Oppa. They really make my life happier than before.”

Jaejoong swallowed hard as his eyes widened, ‘Tiffany had two kids already?! Oh, god!’ He cried out. In these past three years, Tiffany had changed a lot. Married to somebody else & bore her husband’s children & he was too late. His eyes turned red all of a sudden. How he wished he could be in her husband’s shoe.

“How about you, Oppa? Are you happy?”

“I’m dying.”

“Why?” It was a wrong question, however, she had uttered those words without having a chance to take it back.

“I lost you. Of course I’m dying.”

The finality in his tone terrified her. She lowered her head again. Fighting back her own tears, she pleaded with her eyes, “Please, Oppa.” She stared at him sadly, “Please don’t ever say that. You still have a bright new life waiting for you.”

“New life doesn’t mean anything if I can’t have you by my side.” He smiled bitterly with teary-eyed, “In these past three years, I have been missing for you day & night. I still remember my horrible days in the hospital with therapy & horrible medicines. I almost lost hope but you were my only hope.” He stopped, turning his head to stare at the ceiling, “After I was discharged from the hospital, the first thing I wanted to do is to find you but you have disappeared.”

Tiffany didn’t say a word but kept staring at the floor blankly. She couldn’t look at him. Her heart thudded. He turned his eyes to stare at her now, “& when I finally do find you.” He paused, gasping his breath hardly, “You are another man’s wife. I’m out of your life already. I’m too late.”

A single tear dropped on his cheeks, “How can you forget me in such a short time, Fany?” He whispered, with teary-eyes, looking into her eyes deeply.

Their eyes met.

She saw his sadness, disappointment & deep love in his eyes, the eyes that she had been missing them so much for the past f
