Chapter 16

When Tiffany woke up that morning, her first thought was her last morning as a single woman. This afternoon, she would get married Jaejoong & then they would go to Australia for their honeymoon.

Outside, she could hear the distant rumble of the traffic heading towards the center of Korea. The Kim family house was in a suburb next to the city. She glanced around the familiar bedroom, her own bedroom before she ran away to Canada. Its pink wallpaper & wooden furniture were still there even though she had left Korea for almost three years. Then her eyes caught her simply elegant strapless white wedding gown with ribbon hanging on the back of the wardrobe. Next to it, on the floor, her suitcase sat neatly packed, ready to be taken up to the airport after the wedding ceremony.

She got out from the bed & pulled back the pink curtains. The morning sunlight caught the engagement ring on her finger & it splintered into dazzling colors. Jaejoong had presented her with the 1.3 carat round cut diamond just before they left Canada last month but she was still overwhelmed by its beauty.

She put on her aqua satin robe & padded quietly across the hall to peep into the twin’s room. They were still fast asleep which wasn’t surprising as it had been almost five in the morning before she had been able to settle them down. Jaejoong had made it worse. He had arrived just as she had got them into bed.

*Flashback*

“Daddy! Daddy! You are here!” Minho screamed in delight. He quickly got up from his bed & sat on his brother’s bed.

“Are you staying here with us tonight, daddy?” Minki got up from his bed too, “Please?” He showed him his cute smile to his father. He knew very well that his father would do anything not to disappoint him.

“Yes. Please daddy?” Minho followed his brother, smiling innocently at his father.

Jaejoong grinned, looking at Tiffany, “Hi, Fany.”

“Isn’t it bad luck to see the bride on the night before the wedding, Kim Jaejoong?” Tiffany stared at him in disbelief without replying back to his greeting. She had tried so hard to make the boy’s sleep & now, their father had ruined her hard work with his unexpected night visit.

“I’m not the superstitious type. I don’t believe it.” His grinned turned wider as he stole a kiss on his bride’s cheek.

“Well, I am.” She had said firmly, “So, I’m not letting the groom over the house the night before the wedding.” “Please stay, daddy?”

“Please, please?”

The boy’s made a choir with pleading look from their beds.

Jaejoong turned his face to look at his wife-to-be, “Please, Fany?”

“Oppa. I don’t want something bad to happened if you insist on staying here. It’s only one more night. You can handle it for the last one month.”

“Yes, I do but.” Jaejoong stopped & closed his mouth when he saw an irritating look on Tiffany’s face.

“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I will go after I say goodnight & kiss the boys. I will be quick. I promise.”

She didn’t know why she had pretended not to be glad to see him when in reality, all she had wanted was for him to take her into his arms & kiss her senseless but it was the superstitious thing she believed. She was just afraid that something bad would happen in their life again. She wouldn’t be able to bear it for the third time in her life.

Jaejoong had smiled & stepped past her, “Well, I have said goodnight to the boy’s & I won’t keep you long. Have a good rest, sweetheart. I’m afraid tomorrow night you will stay awake with me during the whole night.”

Tiffany stared at him with a pouting face, still puzzled with his words. Then she got the meaning. Her face turned red, blushing to the root, “Oppa. Shame on you.”

“Don’t tell me you are afraid of me. We have done it before. Do you remember? & it was the time when you conceived my boys.” He laughed hard, looking at her flushed face & something about the way his eyes had raked over her face, lingering on her lips, had sent prickles of passion racing through her, “Yes, I know. Now, you have to go, Mr. Kim.”

“Goodnight, Tiffany. Dream about me only.”
