Chapter 1

Jaejoong watched the sky through his window blankly. It had been three years since the horrible incident that almost took his life. Doctor said he was eighty seconds of death but god had his own way. He could survive after five months in a coma & got up with his lower body paralyzed. He had to spend three years eight months in Boston, America in therapy & treatment before he could come back to Korea as a healthy man again, except he lost one of his kidneys. The bullet destroyed one kidney so the doctors had to take it out to save his life. His father kept saying that he was a lucky man because the bullet missed his other vital organs, “People could live with one kidney & it wouldn’t looked so different with a normal person.” Mr. Kim said, “Yeah.” Jaejoong said to himself. He could live normally now except he had to take medicines for the rest of his life.

Losing so much blood when he got into the hospital, it was a miracle that he could be alive until today. His family & friends, even the team of doctors had lost hope when his heart stopped beating for a few minutes before it started beating again, “That was a miracle from heaven, Jaejoong.” His mother repeatedly said, those words to him when she accompanied him when having medical treatments in America.

Taking in a deep breath, he looked at the stars again. He couldn’t remember when he had last seen the bright sky as tonight. He smiled bitterly. She had disappeared. Nobody knew where she was.

Her beautiful, expressive wide, brown, almond-shaped eyes & a wonderful mass of naturally silky hair that tempted touching & had turned his life into a nightmare. Every night, he woke up, sweating profusely, shaking all over. Every time he slept, he would have the same dream over & over again.

He closed his hazel brown, almond-shaped eyes, taking in a deep, calming breath.

His greatest apprehension right now was that he couldn’t see Tiffany again. With a trembling hand, he wiped the sweat from his oval-shaped face.

“Tiffany, where are you? Why are you hiding from me? Why?” He whispered.

Jaejoong unconsciously started playing with the ring that they had bought together at France. Now he was in her bedroom before she left Korea three years ago in a big hurry. Since then, his family only knew she was alright as she always sent Christmas cards every year & wrote down a note saying she was alright & yet, never put her address. He tried to figure out from the stamp on the envelope but Tiffany was clever. It was posted from Seoul. She must have had a friend who helped her post the cards from Seoul because he had hired the best private investigator to look for her in Seoul & came back with the report that Tiffany Hwang had reportedly left Seoul the next day after his incident based on the information from the Seoul Immigration.

“Where are you, Fany?” He said, to the stars in the sky.

He always spent a few moments in her room every night, just to remember her & their sweet moments together. The instant physiological reaction he had expe
