Chapter 17

Proposal

A year went really fast, maybe too fast but it didn’t matter as long as they were all together and happy. It was completely Yeori’s case. Even after one year, she was still living a happy life with her family, with Jongdae and her two beautiful kids. MinJi and MinJun were now one and Yeori had to admit that they inherited a lot from Baekhyun. Instead of being bothered by this fact, it made Yeori only smiled while Jongdae was desperate just at the thought of his kids being as sassy as his friend. Yeori remembered that time when the kids were already fighting for a toy and Jongdae’s desperate cry.

“Please, tell me they won’t be like him.”

“They won’t. You’re the one raising them.”

At the memory, Yeori couldn’t help but smile; sometimes she wondered who was the kid in this flat but of course she didn’t mind it all. It was refreshing and she hoped that her life would be like that forever.

Today was the opportunity for her to have finally a day with Jongdae, a day without kids as Sehun took them at their parents’ place. Yeori didn’t complain even a minute; it was a win-win situation for all of them. She was happy to have some free time and so were her parents; after all recently they didn’t have the chance to see them a lot.

But unfortunately for her, when she tried to call Jongdae he didn’t reply. It was weird, it was his day off, yet she couldn’t join him. “Where the hell are you?” It wasn’t as she doubted him or was worried but more like she was bored; after all, what was she supposed to do this afternoon by herself?

She tried to call him some more times but it was useless. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she lay down on the couch, her feet in the air, she was extremely frustrated. It was too calm, too silent and she was bored. She turned her head to the side and grabbed a photo of her and Jongdae. Immediately she forgot the feeling of boredom as a soft smile appeared on her lips, with fingertips she brushed the photo as if she could feel Jongdae. “Damn, I miss him already.”

For the past two years Jongdae proposed twice and she refused twice. She knew that she made him wait an eternity and at the beginning she felt bad about it but Jongdae was fine with as long as he was by her side. All this time she didn’t feel ready for it but today was different.

“I want to spend my whole life by his side.”

It was only around 9pm that Yeori received a call but not from the person she was expecting. Disappointed she still replied as it was a call from Sehun. “What?”

“Wow, you sound so happy right now!”

“Shut up, what do you want?”

“Oh right. You need to go to Jongdae’s old flat, something’s wrong.”

Yeori straightened herself immediately and frowned. “Last time someone said that to me he got injured.”

“Hurry up.” Was all that Sehun said before hanging up.

Yeori stayed five minutes without moving and just thinking. Why would Jongdae send Sehun instead of calling by himself? And what if something bad had happened again? She shook her head roughly and refused to think any further.

It didn’t take her long to arrive at the right place but before she could even enter the building, someone else was waiting for her and someone that she recognized immediately. Chanyeol was standing just before the door, just as if he was blocking her way to prevent her go inside. She stopped walking and frowned for a moment before realizing that he held a piece of paper in his hands. The moment she read the words, she understood that she got tricked by her damn friends and brother.

But then again it didn’t matter.

“Don’t go inside Yeori!

Go to the street where I found you for the first time.”

A chuckle escaped her lips as she realized that the one behind everything was none other than Jongdae. “This little , he got me again.”

“I got it, I got it.” Yeori said and waved at the poor Chanyeol who waited for a long time.

Even if it happened two years ago, she still remembered the place where they met for the first time. The smile wouldn’t leave her face as she accepted playing this childish game. Why not? After all she was bored for the whole day and some fun wouldn’t hurt, right?

As she got closer to the place, the memory of their first meeting shot back in her head; he was the first one to show his feelings, he was the first one to shout his love for her to the world.

"A pretty girl like you shouldn't cry under the rain."

"Who are you to even care?" She didn't want to sound rude but she just couldn't control herself.

"Me? Kim Jongdae and you?"

"Moon Yeori."

His smile grew a little wider giving him such a cute face that for a second Yeori forgot where she was and what she was doing. He handed her hand, wanting her to take it and let him help her. She looked at him and then at his hand. Wouldn't it be weird to accept someone's help in the middle of the street? As she had nothing more to lose she grabbed his hand and he helped her to get up.

"Better this way. Now tell me what a pretty girl like you is doing under the rain? You shouldn't cry." He said and got a little closer to her. He was way too close her but at this moment nothing actually mattered as her body seemed completely under his spell. Who the hell was he?  “Where do you live? I’ll take you home.”

Now that she thought about it, Jongdae was definitely a flirt at that time but a really nice one.

When she arrived at the right place, another person was waiting for her and this times it was Suho who looked completely desperate. She couldn’t help but laugh. “You look like you’re about to die Suho.”

“I am. Your lovely boyfriend threatened me so I had no choice but to come here and freeze while waiting for you.”

“I’ll kick his for you if you want.”

“Would be really nice but for the moment you should go to the old bridge in the park where you use to take MinJi and MinJun.”

Yeori wasn’t stupid, or blind; this little game was leading her to their favorite place and she had an idea of why he used his friends. The idea of bothering their friends displeased her but the idea of what he was about to ask her for the third time made her heart beating only faster. Finally.

As soon as she arrived next to the old bridge, she froze at the place. The bridge was covered with different flowers and candles, making the place all shiny and absolutely beautiful. Yeori’s face brightened at this sight and she couldn’t help but chuckle; Jongdae was definitely a romantic guy.

Slowly she went to the middle of the bridge to have a better look of everything. It was next to the red roses that Yeori found a small card.

“Will you marry me?”

Her smile got only wider; she nodded her head even without knowing that Jongdae was standing just behind her. It took him time to organize everything, he wanted it to be perfect this time and now that he had her answer, he knew that it was worth it. Gently he wrapped his arms around her body and pressed her against him.

“I love you.” He whispered and kissed her forehead

“Finally!” Someone screamed not far from them. Yeori looked to the side only to see her brother and Jongin with MinJi and MinJun. “Hey hyung, now you’re my brother-in-law!”

At that moment Yeori wondered who was the happiest about this idea. She turned to face Jongdae and grabbed his face before planting a soft kiss on his lips.

“I love you too.”

It's so hard for me to believe that basically this story is over. I have only the epilogue to write and it will be over for good.
