Hyun Jung’s POV:

“Hannah, over here,” I waved my hand, hoping she could spot me better over the crowd. Thankfully, she did and made her way over. We went in together and sat at the table with Sam, Kelly, Nayoung and Janey. We exchanged greetings with Sam and Nayoung’s date. Hannah said her date would join her later. Since we were in warm indoors, we took off our coat and hung it on the back of our chairs. Feeling a little thirsty, I left to get myself a drink from the refreshment table. I had taken a sip of my fruit punch when someone tapped my shoulder.

“J- Jonghyun?” I almost choked on the small amount liquid in my mouth. “You came?”

“Yeah. I didn’t plan on coming but my friend told me to help him out by keeping someone company, he said I’d thank him later but I have no idea who’s that someone,” he said.

“Is your friend.. You know, Tae Jun?” I asked meekly.

“Yeah,” he said but his widened.

“I’m that someone.”

“You’re that someone!” We both said at the same time and burst out laughing.

“You don’t mind right?” he asked, smiling.

“I don’t. I was actually worried the guy would turn out to be some geek or something. I’m actually glad it’s you.”

“Where’s your seat? I’ll come join you,” he said.

“You’ll be the only guy there, is it awkward for you?” I asked with a laugh. He shook his head and I led him to our table, we did have two extra seats, why not fill it up.

“What happened to Tae Jun?” Hannah raised an eyebrow.

“He ditched and got Jonghyun for me,” I smiled and shook my head. Jonghyun sat on my left while Hannah sat on my right.

“Jonghyun, this is Sam, Sam’s date, Kelly and her date, Nayoung, Jane and I’m sure you know Hannah,” I introduced my friends. They smiled and said ‘hi’. While waiting for the event to officially start, I took at look at the beautifully decorated combined indoor basketball court. We had two and the wall that separated the two huge courts could be lift up. The first gym was used for tables and stuff, the other was just an empty dance floor and a makeshift stage. There were pretty banners and balloons everywhere.

“Good evening students, I’m the director, Mr. Jung. This evening..” he went on and on while I slowly zoned out. I assumed the speech ended when the venue erupted with loud applause. Music started playing, people got up and headed to the dance floor while Hannah and I went to get food from the buffet table.

“I’ll help you with that,” Jonghyun smiled and got my second paper plate. The plate was filled with desserts Hannah and I were going to share, I don’t eat as much as you think. “You still eat like a pig.”

“Shut up,” I slapped his arm. “Hannah and I are sharing that, okay.”

“Whatever you say,” he snickered and left to get his own food. After eating a few mouthfuls, I realized how great of a chef Ryeowook was. The food here compared to the food he made at home. I couldn’t help but feel self-conscious with Janey looking at me while I ate. I helped the Hannah throw away mine and her empty paper plates once we were and got myself another cup of fruit punch before returning to my seat.

“Give me some,” Jonghyun opened his mouth.

“No, get your own,” I stated flatly and sipped my drink. I couldn’t keep a straight face when his bottom stuck out with a full-on pout. It was cute and all, but I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the thought of him looking like a pouting dinosaur.

“Hyunnie,” he stuck his bottom lip out more.

“Okay, but only on this side of the cup, I don’t want to share an indirect kiss with you,” I handed him the cup. But instead of thanking me and drinking like I thought he wanted to, he leaned and whispered.

“But we already kissed for real,” my face turned red at his sentence.

“I’ll.. Uh, be in the bathroom,” I quickly stood up and hurried off. I left the place, ignoring Hannah and Jonghyun’s questions. The one on the second floor was blocked so I had to climb the stairs to the third floor. The stairway was pitch black save for one tiny little light bulb at the landing that was already blinking on and off. I entered the empty bathroom and washed my hands. My face was still red and luckily it wasn’t that obvious in the venue since lights were dimmed. After washing my hands and patting my face lightly, I took a deep breath and left the bathroom.

Jonghyun’s POV:

“Yah, what’s taking her so long? It’s been half an hour..” Hannah frowned and looked at her watch. I was getting a little worried too, a bathroom trip for half an hour? And not answering calls?

“I’m going to look for her,” I got up and slung my blazer over my shoulder.

“I’ll go with you,” Hannah said. She apologized to her date and we left the venue. The bathroom on the second floor was blocked so we went to the first but she wasn’t there so we went up to the third floor.

“Oh no..” I ran up to the figure on the floor, hoping that it wasn’t her.

But it was.

“Hyun! Oh my God,” Hannah ran up to her body.

“Don’t touch her! If she fell from the stairs then moving her carelessly would be a bad idea,” I climbed the stairs three at a time and knelt beside her. I held my breath and put my finger below her nose and sighed in relief when I felt her breath. “She’s alive. Okay, call an ambulance.”

“Thank God,” Hannah fumbled with her phone and called the ambulance. In the mean time, I got her to fetch Hyun Jung’s belongings from the table and come back. The paramedics carefully lifted her onto the stretcher and brought her out to the waiting ambulance. Students who saw her gasped and whispered. They allowed the both of us to get into the ambulance with her. She was put in the Accident and Emergency room and we were told to wait outside. Hannah was shaken and panicky.

“Kyuhyun.. Kyuhyun, we have to tell him,” she muttered.

“I’ll call them,” no matter how many times I called, he just wouldn’t pick up. I sighed and called Leeteuk hyung instead.

“Yeoboseyo?”

“Leeteuk hyung?”

“Oh Jonghyun ah, what’s up?”

“H- Hyun Jung’s in the hospital. Kyuhyun hyung wouldn’t answer his phone so I called you instead,” I said.

“Mwo?! Which hospital?” his voice turned alert.

“Seoul General Hospital, hyung, come quickly,” I said.

“Arasso, I’ll tell the members to inform Kyuhyun.”

“Neh.”

Donghae’s POV

"Hyun Jung, I— Ugh, no, not this," I groaned and faced the mirror. "Hyung Jung, don't get freaked out, but I love you."

Obviously she'd get freaked out what are you saying?!

I was in my room thinking of how I’d confess to her when she got back. Heechul hyung really knocked some sense into me. I checked the time on my phone, it was two hours until she comes back, two hours to prepare.

“Mwo?! Which hospital?!” a voice a recognized to be Leeteuk hyung’s exclaimed. Curious, I went outside to find him on the phone with someone. When he finally hung up, the members started asking him questions.

“What happened?” Yesung asked.

“Hyun Jung’s in the hospital,” he said quickly, putting on his jacket.

“Mwo?!” my eyes widened. Hospital? But how? I made sure she got there safe!

“You guys stay here and tell Kyuhyun to go to Seoul General Hospital when he gets back. He’s not answering his phone,” Leeteuk instructed, grabbing his car keys and phone.

“I’ll come with you, hyung,” I said and put on my jacket quickly. We both ran to his car and got in at top speed.

“I hope nothing happens to her,” I sighed as the car came to a stop at the red light.

“She’ll be okay. She’s Hyun Jung afterall,” Leeteuk said softly. I knew he was worried as well, and so was everybody. How could they not? It’s Hyun Jung, our precious baby sister and my future girlfriend. Leeteuk received a text from Jonghyun saying they were still outside the A&E room and that we should meet there. After a half hour drive and a short walk to the A&E, we met up with Jonghyun and a sobbing Hannah.

“Hyung,” Jonghyun stood up in acknowledgement.

“Anything from the doctor?” Leeteuk asked and we both sat down beside him.

“Not yet, she’s still in there,” he sighed. I clenched my fists as my anger, frustration and worry started to build up. I felt the corner of my lips pulling down into a frown as angry tears build up in my eyes. If Hyun Jung was with him, why didn't he look out for her? He was supposed to keep her by his side, but he didn't. Look what happened now! She's in there and I don't even know what her condition is, or whether she'd make it out alive or not! The worst part is, I haven't gotten the chance to finally tell her about my feelings. When I finally realized who and what was important to me, this just had to happened. 

"Why didn't you protect her?!" I gripped his collar. "Weren't you with her? Didn't you keep an eye on her? What's wrong with you? Do you know how important she is to me?!"

"Hyung! She's just as important to me as she is to you. I'm just as worried as you are. I'm sorry for not keeping an eye on her but I didn't want it to happen either!"

"Guys, calm down. Hyun Jung's in there fighting to stay alive and you're here fighting among yourselves? Are you sure you guys are worried about her? Because if you are, you'd stop this petty fight, shut up, sit down and pray that she'd make it through the operation safely without any severe damges!" Leeteuk hyung glared at us, which eventually made us sit down quietly.We sat in silence for about 3 hours and finally, the red light turned off, which meant the operation was over.
