XXXVIII
Fresh Meat"Jin it's" Hara started but before she could finish Jin had pulled out a magnificent ring, sparkling diamonds encrusted along the band leading up to the big diamond in the middle. He held the ring delicately with a small smile playing on his lips
"Hara i love you"
Hara felt the pit in her stomach get deeper as Jin continued to softly talk to her "this was my grandmothers, i know it's over the top and not your style but i want to give it to you anyway, you're my someone special Hara"
Hara stared at the table unable to speak, she didn't know what to say. She had come here with him in hopes of breaking off their relationship and here Jin was wanting to make it stronger then ever. Jin watched as Hara's cheeks became redder and as she bit her bottom lip nervously. He smirked a little to himself but his heart was sinking with every second she made him wait for an answer.
"Jin i-"
Jin wasn't sure where his heart was anymore, he was preparing himself for the worst now
"Think about it" he said cutting her off, too afraid to hear her answer
However Hara didn't want to make him wait any longer, she couldn't continue this no matter how much her brain was telling her too, her heart wasn't with Jin it never was, it had stayed without someone else this entire time and it was cruel of her to keep leading Jin on. This was where it ended
"I can't, Jin i am sorry"
Jin played with the ring "is that so?"
"This relationship we have, it's not a healthy one" Hara said not looking at him in fear of hurting him more then she was already going to "This dinner we barely talked, we barely talked while i was away, there is no communication in this relationship. And... and" Hara could bring herself to say it, no matter how much she really wanted to
"You don't love me?" Jin asked a long gust of air leaving his lips as if he had been holding his breath the entire time
"I do love you Jin, but i can't commit to something like this, i can't commit to you"
"Did you love me at all, all these years?" Jin mumbled quietly
Hara didn't reply, she raised her head a little to see Jin's eyes burning into hers, he wasn't angry, he didn't even look sad, he looked calm and collected
"I wish i did" Hara said quietly
"ahh" a smile broke on Jin's face "I was a fool for thinking i could trap a butterfly for so long, i've been letting you die in the cage a relationship"
Hara shook her head "please don't see it like that"
"I can't see it any other way" he replied looking away from Hara "I saw something beautiful and i wanted to keep it to myself, no matter how reluctant you were at first you eventually gave in and stayed with me, i should have realised it earlier"
Hara felt her eyes becoming watery but she forced the tears back, she didn't feel like she deserved to be the one crying when it wasn't her own heart she was breaking it was the man who treated her with nothing but love and kindness since they met at a young age. Himchan was right. She had been leading him on too long and now the damage of this break up would be more painful for Jin, far more painful then if she just gently declined him all those years ago. Instead she let Jin continue in his one sided affection towards her, she was cruel for letting it get to this point. Far too cruel.
Jin looked at the young women in front of him and reached for her hand "Hara"
She looked up at him, her eyes large eyes watery, her facial expression showed more guilt then anything else and it made Jin's heart shatter at the sight of her "I understand, don't be so warry of my feelings. I can handle myself, this is a good move on both of our parts. I know it must have taken a lot of courage for you to tell me this, so don't show such a guilty face, please"
Jin's kind words only made Hara feel worst and the pit in her stomach wasn't just effecting that area of her body, soon her whole body was feeling sore and weak at how much overwhelming guilt she felt. She couldn't look Jin in the eyes knowing that he would be smiling at her simply and happily caring more about her feelings then his own.
At that moment she wanted him to be mad, angry storm out of the restaurant, throw a fit anything, anything at all that would make her feel worse then she already felt but here he was comforting her, the girl would single handedly shattered Jin's world to small unsalvageable pieces.
Jin was no longer able to stand the sight of Hara, she looked like a little broken doll and he felt that presence there wasn't going to help with the situation
"I'll leave first" he said pulling away from her and letting go of her hand "It's okay Hara, i'm serious" Jin said grabbing his jacket
"Goodbye" he said patting her head gently as he left the restaurant.
Once Jin was finally gone Hara felt like she could breathe again, and took in a long overdue breath while holding her face in her hands. She had finally done it and even though she felt horrible and guilty and many more emotions then she could being to explain she was releaved that she had finally after such a long time broken up with him.
"Uh excuse me" a voice called tapping Hara on her shoulder, Hara looking up at the person next to her
"I saw what just happened and i know this is weird and i don't want to make you uncomfortable but i just want to know if you're okay" The girl standing before her was tall, long brown hair ran all the way to her elbow, her eyes were large and gave a kind appearance to her face, the next thing Hara noticed was how beautiful she was.
"I.. i'm fine, thank you" Hara said plastering a smile on her face
The girl sat down across from her "who broke up with who?" she questioned
Hara laughed a little at her forwardness "Uh i broke up with him" she confessed, why was it so easy for her to talk to this stranger
"aaahhh that's really hard, are you okay?"
"yes i'm fine thank you, oh i'm Hara by the way" Hara said stretching out her hand for a handshake across the table
The girl smiled at her happily and grabbed her hand shaking it "I'm Soojung, nice to meet you too"
