Cruel.
World of the women is cruel.
Backstabing, calling names, jealousy – things that shouldn’t even be happening in the first place is a daily thing in the woman’s world. Sometimes it seems there can be no light in this horrible place. Society puts pressure on us, that’s why we put even more pressure on each other. We judge each other by using some kind of standards that don’t even exist in the first place. Life became a huge competition for something so big that it seems as if you don’t achieve it, you’ll die.
But what are we competing for?
What is so great that we have to have to push, claw, break and destroy one of our own?
Men.
That’s what we are competing for.
Not for fame, money or career. Not for a better life, better future or a better job. But can you blame us? As Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie says ”We raise girls to see each other as competitors for attention of men.” We are raised to believe that we need a man to survive. A handsome and successful man, so that our mothers can be proud and our friends and enemies can be jealous.
A man like Kim Jongin.
Young, but so far successful. Handsome even when he strolls into class half asleep. Not the brightest, but makes up for it with talents in other spheres. Lusted by some, yet never has one under his arm. Not so popular at school yet, but soon he’ll become one of the prizes us girls compete for.
Just another innocent guy stuck in the world of women.
Put on the pedestal he didn’t even ask for.
Like a trophy that you want to get but you know you never will.
So you’ll search for a copy, a substitute, a replacement.
He doesn’t have to be handsome, but he has to look good.
He doesn’t have to be intelligent, but he has to look smart.
He doesn’t have to be rich, but he needs to have money.
He doesn’t have to love you, but he has to spend all his time and attention on you.
And you don’t have to love him back as long as he can take care of you.
