The Beginning

Hyoyeon’s POV

“I thought we’re going to have lunch at other restaurant?”, I asked while furrowing my brows. I never expected that Seohyun will bring me to the restaurant where I was working. She just smiled soon after we entered the restaurant. Luna was surprised to see me there since it’s not my working day today.

“Oh, Hyo ssi! What are you doing here?”, she asked soon after she saw me entered inside the restaurant.

“Ah, Luna, annyeong! I’m here to have a lunch with my student. Luna, this is Seohyun. Seohyun, this is Luna, our staff”, I replied as I introduced Seohyun who was standing beside me to her.

“Annyeong Luna ssi, Seohyun imnida!”, she said as she bowed.

“Annyeong, Seohyun ssi!”, Luna replied smilingly. She then led both of them to the vacant table.

Before I could sit on my chair, Luna quickly grabbed my wrist, and dragged me at the corner of the restaurant. I was surprised with her sudden action.

“Yah! What are you doing?”, I snapped at her. Luna just chuckled.

“Hyo ssi, is she your girlfriend?”, she asked with a sly smile.

“Mwoh? Where did you get the idea, huh?”, I replied, furrowing my brows.

“Duh.. you guys walking hand-in-hand just now. Do I still need to explain?”, she said as she rolled her eyes. I could only facepalmed due to the embarrassment. Luna giggled.

“Aishh.. it’s.. it was not intentional, though. But, please don’t tell anyone, arasso?”, I said, giving my stupidest reason to her. Luna chuckled while nodded her head.

“Arasso. Go now, Hyo ssi. She was looking at you”, she said as she gestured me to the table were Seohyun was sitting while looking at our direction curiously. I turned my heels, and walked towards our table.

“Is everything okay?”, Seohyun asked soon after I sat on my chair.

“Oh, y-yeah, everything is okay. Luna was asking me about work just now”, I replied as I smiled nervously.

“Ah, jinja?”, she said. I just nodded my head. I gestured the waiter to come to our table.

“Annyeong, Hyo ssi!”, the waiter bowed to me while placing the menu on the table.

“Annyeong, Minhyuk ah”, I said to him.

“You bring a friend to eat here?”, he asked. Seohyun was busy looking at the menu.

“Ehmm.. yeah”, I replied in short. Minhyuk smiled in mischievous. Aishh.. this kid. I knew he must have been thinking that Seohyun is not an ordinary friend to me. I had never brought anyone to eat here except my family members, and my best friend Min, whom all staffs here knew her well.

“May I take your order now?”, he asked.

“What would you like to have?”, Seohyun asked softly while looking at me, smiling sweetly. Oh, God! Does she have to do that right now? In front of this kid? I’m going to be their source of teasing soon. I gulped before I replied.

“D-dae?”, I stuttered, and saw Minhyuk pressed his lips, tried to suppress his giggle. I glared at him, and he quickly putting his serious face, lowering his head.

“What do you want to eat?”, she asked again. I scratched my head while looking at the menu. Aishh.. since when I didn’t know how to order food? Or, maybe it’s because I just felt nervous since this is our first unofficial lunch date? W-wait, unofficial date? Urghhh.. what’s wrong with me?

“Ermm.. why don’t you order first?”, I suggested. Seohyun furrowing her brows while staring at me. “W-wae?”, I asked as I glanced at her.

“You need a time to think of what to eat?”, she asked, earning a soft giggle from Minhyuk. I cleared my throat while glaring at him. He covered his mouth with his hand, and lowered his head, not daring to look at me.

“A-anni.. it’s not like that. Just make your order first, and I will make mine later”, I replied while glancing at Minhyuk. He stood still while holding a pen and small notebook, ready to take down our order.

“Okay”, she said with a smile. She then placed her order, a lunch set which includes caesar salad for appetizer, smoked salmon with lemongrass sauce for the main course, strawberry ice cream for the dessert, and plain water for the drinks. I told Minhyuk to have the same lunch set like hers. Minhyuk happily jotted down the order, and smiled slyly at me before he walked away from our table. Aishh.. this kid!

Both of us kept silent for a while, not knowing what to say. Seohyun just playing with her fingers, her face looks red. She was so bold just now, walking beside me while holding hands. Now she was acting shyly. Is she a bipolar? I took the initiative to start our conversation.

“So, you still not answering my question earlier”, I said, as my words has made her gasp.

“Question? What question?”, she asked, looks a bit confused.

“About you brought me to have a lunch in here. Why?”, I replied.

“Oh, that..”, she said. “I purposely brought you here because..”, she paused, and smiled. I stared at her, patiently anticipating on her next words.

“Because.. I.. I want to reminisce the place where we have met for the first time”, she said shyly. I was dumbfounded at first, but my lips slowly formed a smile, and suddenly I felt butterflies in my stomach. This feeling, I couldn’t explain it myself.

“Ah, geureokunyo (I see)”, I said while nodding my head smilingly. “But, please. Next time if you want to bring me for a date, not in here, okay?”, I said jokingly. Her eyes widen in surprise, but I could see her face blushed. I giggled softly as she looks so cute when she acts shy.

“W-wae?”, she asked.

“Because, all staffs here will teasing me like there’s no tomorrow”, I said as I laughed. She joined me laughing.

“Hyonnie..”, she calls me. I felt my heart thumping wildly when hearing she calls by that nickname. It really makes me felt special. Oh, do you want to know why is she calling me by that nickname?

Flashback

“Seonsaengnim”, she calls me while we were walking side by side to the parking lot.

“Dae?”, I replied while looking at her.

“I want to tell you something”, she said as she looked toward the path that we're walking through.

“What is it?”, I asked.

“But, you must promise me one thing”, she said.

“Okay, I promise. What is it?”, I replied curiously.

“Promise me that you won’t be surprised”, she said. I frowned as I felt weird hearing her words, but I just shrugged it off.

“Okay, okay”, I replied. We keep on walking, and I could hear she took a deep breath before she started to speak.

“I.. I.. like you, seonsaengnim”, she stuttered.

“Mworago?”, I said in surprise as I stopped walking. I really didn't expect she would said that to me. But, I’m not sure of what she meant. Is it ‘like’ as a friend or otherwise? I tried to compose myself as I try to smile after hearing her words.

“I like you too, Seohyun. You’re a diligent student. I like your spirit”, I said, pretending that it sounds normal to me, and nothing’s happened.

“No, it’s.. it’s not like that”, she said as she shook her head. I still stood at my spot while watching her slowly walking towards me. She then stood in front of me, so close that I could feel her breath. I just stood still, my heart started to thump wildly.  She smiled as she stared into my eyes before she started to speak.

“I like you, like the two persons who falling in love with each other for the first time. This feeling is sincere, from the bottom of my heart”, she said softly. I could only blink my eyes rapidly as I was in shocked, and I could feel my legs will turn into jelly anytime soon, after the moment she said those words to me.

“S-Seohyun.. I..”, I lost for words. I like her too, but, so many things went through my mind just now that I couldn’t process any to form a word to say to her. She then grabbed my hands, and pulled me closer to her. W-wait! Did she hugged me? Oh. My. God! Seo Juhyun hugged me! My head suddenly spinning, and later it turned into black, and… I couldn't remember anything after that.

“Hyoyeon ssi… Hyoyeon ssi..”, I felt someone slapping gently on my cheek. I slowly opened my eyes, and I found myself was lying on the bed. I saw a woman with a white uniform was staring at me, and her lips slowly formed a smile.

“Oh, thank God you’re awake!”, she said. I slowly recognized the face.

“M-Miss Park.. where am I?”, I asked with my weak voice. Everything was blurred to me.

“You’re at our university’s clinic, Hyo ssi. Your student Seohyun sent you here”, she replied.

“W-what happened to me?”, I asked again.

“She said you suddenly collapsed, and fainted. She was so panic at that time. She thought you had heart attack or something”, the nurse said as she giggled. I frowned at her words for a while, but then suddenly I remembered something. The confession!

“Errr.. Miss Park, where is Seohyun?”, I asked as I tried to get up. Miss Park rushed to my side, and helped me.

“She said she wanted to go to the restroom for a while”, she replied. Not long after that, Seohyun appeared at the door.

“Seonsaengnim!”, she shouted excitedly while rushing towards me. She quickly hugged me, caused me dumbfounded. Miss Park stared at us weirdly, and shook her head before she left us.

“Are you okay?”, she asked worriedly as she pulled off the hug.

“Y-yeah. I’m okay”, I said as I smiled faintly.

“I thought something bad happened to you. I was so worried”, she said as her voice trembled.

“Oh, God! What should I do now? Do I have to comfort her? Aishhh… Kim Hyoyeon, don’t be so coward!”, I thought. Without thinking further, I scooted closer to her, and hugged her.

“I’m sorry for making you worried. I’m okay now”, I said softly while caressing her back. She then slowly wrapped her arms around my waist as she returned the hug. We stayed hugging each other for a while. I don’t know why, but I felt so comfortable, and everything felt so right being in each other’s embrace. Then, suddenly the memory of what had happened to me before I fainted hit my mind.

“Omo! She confessed to me that she likes me earlier. What should I do now? Should I pulled off the hug? Or, should I let us be like this, and confess back to her?”, I thought. I was so immersed in my train of thought when suddenly she pulled off the hug, and stares deeply into my eyes.

“Seonsaengnim, did you still remember of what I’ve told you before you fainted?”, she asked. I nodded my head slowly. “Are you surprised because of my confession?”, she asked again. I just smiled instead, and grabbed her hand to pull her closer to me. I slowly hugged her, and she unconsciously wrapped her arms around me.

“I like you too”, I whispered into her ear. She immediately pulled off the hug, and frowned.

“Wae?”, I asked while staring at the frowning girl in front of me.

“You want to say you liked me as your student?”, she asked. Her eyes looked disappointed. I just smiled, and shook my head.

“Anni.. it’s not like that..”, I paused, tried to gain my strength before I continued. “I love you, like the two persons who falling in love with each other for the first time. This feeling is sincere, from the bottom of my heart”, I said, causing her dumbfounded.

“W-what did you say?”, she asked, looked rather in shock.

“Go, Hyoyeon, go! Confess to her that you love her. This is your chance, and don’t ever let it slip away”, I thought. I took a deep breath, and brave myself once again to say those magic words to her.

“I love you, Seo Juhyun. I fell in love with you the first time we met at the restaurant where I worked, if you still remember. I thought I will never see you again after that day. But, it seemed like God has fated us to meet again”, I said, pouring all the feelings that have been kept inside me to her. Seohyun bites her trembled lips, and a slight tears rolled down her cheek. She dashed towards me, and hugged me tight. I could feel that she was crying, as I felt my shoulders a bit wet from the tears.

“Shh.. don’t cry..”, I said as I wrapped my arms around her, and patted gently on her back. We just stayed hugging each other like that for a while, before I heard a heavy breath sounds coming from her.

“Don’t tell me she fell asleep”, I mumbled. I slowly pulled off the hug, but it seems like she was so sensitive with the sudden movement, causing her body jerked.

“S-sorry.. I fell asleep..”, she said while rubbing her sleepy eyes. Aigoo.. she’s cute!

“Ah.. gwenchana. I know you’re tired. Want to sleep some more?”, I replied. She shook her head.

“Miss Park will not allow anyone to sleep in here. This bed is for the emergency case, not for us to rest”, she said innocently. Yeah, how can I forget that my girlfriend is the Vice President of the Students Council. Omo! Did I say she’s my girlfriend? This is so unbelievable!

“Seonsaengnim..”, she calls me. I turned to look at her.

“Yes?”, I replied as I stared at her. I could see the trace of tears on her cheek. Aishh.. I felt guilty for making her cry.

“About what you have told me just now. Did you really mean it?”, she asked with her eyes full of hope. I smiled while nodding my head.

“Wae? You don’t believe me?”, it’s my turn to ask.

“Anni.. I believe you, seonsaengnim”, she replied. We were silent for a moment.

“Oh, one more thing!”, I exclaimed, making her gasped. “Oopss.. sorry.. hehe..”, I said while giggling, causing her accidentally slapping my arm.

“What is it?”, she asked. I smiled, and grabbed her hand, caressing it gently. I could see her face flushed.

“Stop calling me seonsaengnim. I felt weird when you call me by that, especially after I made my confession to you”, I said.

“Then, should I call you by your name? Hyoyeon?”, she asked.

“Ermm.. yeah. But wait, it’s not romantic at all, though”, I replied. She then pursed her lips while doing her thinking. Aishh.. jebal.. please don’t do that. I’m so gonna kiss your lips later!

“Hah! I know!”, she exclaimed excitedly. “I want to call you Hyonnie, can I?”, she asked.

“Hyonnie.. hmm.. I like that”, I nodded my head in agreement. “And, I will call you Hyunnie then”, I said smilingly.

“I like that too”, she said shyly. I just giggled on her cute act.

“But, you can’t call me Hyonnie when you’re in my class, arasso?”, I said.

“Arasso. Same goes with you”, she replied. Both of us then cracked with a laughter as we kept on reminding ourselves about our own rules and regulations in calling each other’s nickname. She then scooted closer to me, and slowly wrapped her arms around my waist, hugging me.

“Gomawo, Hyonnie ah”, she said softly. “I love you too”, she whispered those magic words into my ear, causing my heart thumping wildly, and seems like going to explode soon. Before I could utter my words, suddenly my stomach growls louder, causing her to burst into laughter.

“Aishh.. such a wrong timing!”, I grunted. She chuckled, and pulled off the hug.

“We’re supposed to have a lunch date before you fainted, remember?”, she said.

“Yeah, I know. But, can we just skip that? I.. I just want us to stay like this, hugging each other”, I replied as I could feel my face suddenly got heated.

“ert!”, she chuckled as she playfully slapped my arm.

“Aishh…”, I smiled sheepishly while scratching my head.

“As much as I want to do that too, we still need to grab our lunch. I don’t want you to get sick later”, she said in concern.

“Arasso”, I replied as I nodded meekly.

“Kaja! Let’s go before Miss Park shoo us of here”, she said before she got up, and pulled my hands to get up from the bed. She helped me to tidy the bed before both of us left the room.

End of the flashback

We were at the parking lot of my apartment’s block. She insisted to drive me home after we finished our lunch.

“Gomawo, Hyunnie ah”, I thanked her, and unbuckle my seat belt.

“Don’t mention. I should do this for you from now on”, she replied with a smile.

“Aishh.. you don’t have to. I don’t want to burden you. I can take a cab like I used to”, I said.

“No, no. It’s not a burden to me at all . I don't want you to take public transport anymore. I'm concerned about your convenience and safety. That would be my responsibility from now on, arasso?”, she said as she insisted.

“But, Hyunnie..”, I was about to continue my words when she cut me off.

“No buts. That’s my final decision”, she said sternly. Wow, since when she became so concern towards me?

“You’re my girlfriend now, and you know that I love you. So, you have become my priority now”, she said as she put her hand on top of my hand.

“Arasso”, I finally relented. “But, if you have a class to attend, you don’t have to fetch me. Just do that whenever you’re free, okay?”, I said as I tried to make a deal.

“Okay, I will try. But, make sure you call or text me after you safely arrived at your workplace, arasso?”, she replied. I chuckled when we were back to square one, setting the rules for each other just like what we did at the clinic earlier. She frowned while looking at me.

“Why are you laughing?”, she asked. After I told her of what I thought, she laughed on that matter too.

“We just confessed to each other today, but we have already set up so many rules and regulations in our relationship”, I said as I giggled.

“It’s because we care and love for each other. We’re fated to be together, don’t you think so?”, she replied.

“Yeah, you’re right”, I said. “Okay, I’ve got to go now. Thank you for sending me home. I will see you on tomorrow, okay?”, I said as I leaned closer and pecked on her cheek. She froze at her seat while watching me getting out of the car. I waved my hand at her, but she didn't notice me as she was still in her own world, caressing the spot where I pecked on her cheek earlier. I laughed when she noticed I was looking at her, and she smiled shyly.

“Cute!”, I mouthed as I giggled. She stuck her tongue out at me before she waved her hand at me, and slowly drove her car away from the parking lot. I just stood still there, watching her car slowly disappeared from my sight before I headed to the apartment’s building. While walking towards the building, I couldn’t stop smiling to myself, remembering of what had happened today.
