Second Chapter

No mom, I don't like him!

Sehun went upstairs to tell Luhan that the two of them had to go grocery shopping when he heard his Aunt Nuna’s frustrated voice.

“Honey please don’t say that. All we want is for the two of you to get along, and become best friends and Aunt Julia wants you to become lovers, but we’re still too far away from that…”

Excuse me? Sehun’s face turned red as he turned his back towards the door and ran back downstairs, yelling at his mother.

“Mom! What the hell makes you think we will become lovers? I have a girlfriend! I am not gay! And even if I were to be gay what gives you the idea that Luhan might be gay as well? Why are you even thinking of something like that? I swear you’re insane, how could dad marry a crazy woman like you?”

He went around the rooms, until he found his mother sitting in the kitchen, enjoying her cup of tea,  acting like she didn’t hear her son’s words. Sehun knew that he could keep throwing a tantrum and she wouldn’t spare him a single glance. He slowly calmed down, before he tried to talk to her again.

“Seriously you are crazy. I will agree on being friends, but cut out the gay part mom!”

His words had drawn his mother’s attention because all of a sudden she pulled him by his sleeve and made him sit on her lap like an oversized baby.

“Oh Darling, now that's my son. You're being serious, right? You’ll finally be friends?” She cooed while running her fingers through Sehun's hair soothingly.

Right. That’s all she cares about. He mentally slapped himself for not thinking twice about what he said.

“I-I will try.”

“Say it again with more enthusiasm!”

“I’ll try!”

He chuckled as he pushed his overly excited mother away.

“But seriously mom. If I find out afterwards that you’re still thinking of sick stuff like that, I’ll move to China and live with dad.”

Of course she acted like she didn’t hear him. Again.

Sehun knew his mother too well. He knew that she would never stop living in her own little fantasy world in which he was Luhan’s best friend. Well he used to think that she would dream about them being best friends. This  was the first time hearing that she wanted them to be lovers.

He couldn’t help but laugh at his mother’s thoughts. And even if it was ridiculous, he knew that it wasn’t impossible. Sehun believed that every person on this planet was at least a little biual or curious enough to experiment.

“Luhan my dear! It’s great to see you. You have perfect timing! Sehun here wanted to ask if you could go grocery shopping with him.”

Snapping out of his thoughts, Sehun found Luhan awkwardly standing in their kitchen, next to Nuna, his mother.

“Uhm well actually I had other- ouch!”

Nuna pulled his precious hair, signalizing him that he should go with Sehun.

“Fine.”

The two of them silently went out of the house.  Things between them got even more awkward after the lover incident with their mothers.

Since Sehun was guiding the way, Luhan just walked behind him until he noticed that they weren't walking in the right direction.

“Sehun, you don’t know where the grocery store is, do you?”

The latter shyly rubbed his neck before admitting that he really didn’t know where it was.

“You would have been lost without me.” Luhan muttered as he showed Sehun the right way.

Both of them were born in Ulsan, but Sehun’s family soon moved to Seoul because of Julia’s modeling career, while Luhan’s family stayed in Ulsan for about seven years until Luhan’s father went back to China for work, and his mother decided to live in Jeju because the island gave her enough inspiration to keep writing her novels.

Luhan would often spend his summer in Ulsan though since his grandparents lived there.

He led the way to the closest grocery store, and told Sehun he would be waiting outside for him.

“No, you’re not staying here. It won’t kill you if you just come inside with me.”

“Stop annoying me Sehun.”

“I promised my mom to try to become your friend so please just come along.”

“Let me tell you one thing Sehun. I don’t want to become your ‘friend’ for our mothers’ sake. Please don’t force yourself to be my friend, because your mother wants you to. Being friends doesn’t work like this. Being friends means liking each other in a friendly way, trusting each other, having fun together and lastly being comfortable. So when the day comes when you actually like me without your mother’s pleas, then maybe we can consider being friends. But honestly speaking… I can’t see that day coming.”

Luhan let out a sigh before turning his back to Sehun, and walking to his favorite bubble tea store across the street. He wanted to meet his friend Kai there, whom he hadn't met in a year. That was his original plan before his mother forced him to go out with Sehun.

Wow has it really been one year since I’ve last been here? Nothing had changed. The city looked exactly the same. Even the small bubble tea store seemed to never change. The same grumpy cashier that Luhan couldn’t stand was standing there, blankly staring at Luhan who started to slightly feel uncomfortable.

“Why is that guy staring at you?”

Luhan thought his heart almost jumped out of his ribcage because of that sudden whisper close to his ear. He turned around to see Sehun standing behind him.

“What are you doing here? Why did you follow me?”

“I love bubble tea.”

Sehun simply stated. How can he follow me after I just told him that we are not even close to being friends?!  That guy really had some nerve.

“And besides I don’t know how to get back home.”

Okay that sounded like the real reason for Sehun to follow him. Luhan just nodded, too tired to talk to Sehun at the moment. He slowly approached the scary cashier and ordered a bubble tea.

“You’re that little friend of Kai. It's been quite a while since you last came here.” The cashier noted while he was making Luhan’s bubble tea.

“Uhm yeah, I guess.”

“Is he coming here today?”

“Yes he said he would come. He should be here soon.”

“Good.”

The guy, whose name was Kris by the way, handed Luhan his bubble tea, and immediately turned his attention to the next customer.

That guy is so weird. Luhan thought as he sat at his usual spot next to the window. Sehun soon followed and sat next to him silently. They sat like that for another ten minutes until Kai entered the store and little Luhan literally jumped out of his seat and into his arms, clinging onto him like a little baby while telling him how much he had missed him.

Sehun watched them closely, and decided that they looked kind of … gay. He kept observing them until they finally came to sit next to Sehun again.

“Sehun, this is Kai, Kai this is Sehun.”

“Didn’t know you had a twin, Luhan.” Kai commented and earned a snort in return.

“Anyways it’s nice to meet you.” Kai gave Sehun a wide smile, but all he got back was a short nod.

They stayed at the store for over an hour. Luhan and Kai were having a nice conversation while Sehun was just watching them, refusing to talk to Kai.

He noticed how different Luhan behaved in front of Kai. Luhan was suddenly so talkative and acted all cute. He was even smiling earnestly the whole time.

Sehun had never seen this side of him. Or to be corrected: It had been six years since he had seen this side of him. Luhan used to cling onto Sehun when they were younger, but Sehun was simply annoyed by him and didn’t spare the older a single glance.  He wouldn’t say that he regretted treating Luhan like that because honestly he didn’t regret it.

It wasn’t like he wanted to hurt the other.  He was simply not good at words or expressing himself in general. He would have liked to explain to Luhan that he couldn’t play with him, because at the moment he was in his own little world where he was a super hero, fighting against the villains. But he didn’t know how to tell the other without making a total fool out of himself.

That’s why he decided to just ignore Luhan, and it’s also the reason why the two of them still couldn't get along.

After they had finally said their goodbyes to Kai, and went grocery shopping, Sehun couldn’t help but ask Luhan a question that had been running through his head the whole time.

“Is Kai your boyfriend?”

“He has a girlfriend.”

“Do you like him?”

“He is my best friend! How could I not like him?”

“That’s not what I mean though.”

“Well I’m not going to answer that question then.”

“So you are gay.”

“Sehun. Could you please do me a favor and shut up?”

“So I was right after all. You always had this, how do I put it? Gay vibe.”

“Why can’t you just shut your mouth? I have a gay vibe. Okay wow. Is that your reason for not liking me? Then thanks.”

Luhan’s voice cracked. If there was one thing he hated the most then it was homophobe people. He started to walk faster, not wanting to talk to Sehun anymore.

“Hey, how about you stop jumping to consolations by yourself? I would never hate someone for their uality! You can be gay, you can be straight or biual I don’t care.”

“Doesn’t sound convincing.”

“Does it convince you if I tell you that I wouldn’t mind kissing a boy? “

“Shut up before I punch you in your precious face. You’re causing a scene, people are already staring.”

Luhan hissed, as he dragged Sehun home, ignoring his whines.

“Mom, Aunt Julia we’re back.”

Luhan placed their bags on the dining table in the kitchen, and headed to his room before they even had the chance to greet him back. He thought he could finally be alone, but of course he was wrong. Because Oh Sehun followed him to his room.

“What do you want Sehun?” Luhan was really tired of this and it was only their first day living together. How was he supposed to survive living with this guy?

“I was serious about what I said. I really don’t mind kissing a guy even if I’m straight.”

“What is that now? Do you want to kiss me?” Luhan jokingly asked as he laid down on his bed chuckling.

“Yes.”

Okay he didn’t see that coming. He didn’t see that coming at all.

“You know that you just made things between us even more awkward, right?”
