Arriving and the Accident

Tripping is the Key

Finally! I looked around outside of the airport and took in the sights around me. I was in Seoul! The capital city of Korea, the country that has the most AMAZING music, has the energy vibe you only feel from great cities from New York to London to Shanghai. I’m not kidding.

Long story short about my life, at least the important parts of my life, I was born a dancer. Whenever music came on, I had the feeling to move. I used to copy the dancers on TV, to everyone’s amusement. Then I sprained my ankle, so I was unable to dance. During that time, I lost interest in what I was dancing before, which was ballet and folkdances. Then two years ago, I saw my first Kpop music video. Not only was I immersed now in the Kpop world, but I started taking hip hop classes. Whether I would decide to try out to become one of the trainees at the famous companies, only the future could tell. Right now, I enjoyed listening to music with great feeling and beat while learning how rock out moves, some of them like the ones that the great idols do on stage.

I know this will sound cheesy, but I really admire the idols under SM Entertainment. I’m a very devoted ELF, and my friends can tell you that most Youtube videos I’m watching are Super Junior videos. I also like to figure out their dances, especially Sorry Sorry. However, SHINee and f(x) are not faraway from being loved, as I also enjoy watching their videos and dancing their dances. I even have a remix of Pinocchio, Lucifer, and Bonamana on my Ipod, and it’s probably one of the songs I play the most.

I went outside and started dialing on my cell phone. If you were wondering, I had gotten the phone from my uncle, who usually goes to Korea for business matters.

Anyhow, I listened through a FT Island ringtone (Sarang Sarang) as I began walking.

“Yeoboseyo?”

“Hi, Martina! I just arrived.” I had planned out that my first stop in Korea would be in Bucheon to visit Simon and Martina, the founders of Eatyourkimchi. Not only did they have great videos and reviews on Korean things, but they had the most adorable dog, Spudgy, who is usually remembered with a green or blue mohawk.

“Ah, Min! Well then, welcome to Korea!”

I giggled. “Thanks! So, um, how do I get to your place?”

“Hmmm, can you come by subway? I would send Simon over but he just went out to buy the groceries and I have to keep an eye on Spudy so he doesn’t ransack our apartment.”

“I can try.”

“Okay. Be careful, it’s near rush hour.”

“Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks! I’ll see you later then.”

Later I found myself, on the subway thanks to my uncle’s T-pass and my guide book’s English subway map. I kept my eyes down and wondered what my friends in their respective places would be doing. Anlia was probably doing math problems at her math camp or exploring China, but I always forget which one she was at. All I knew was that she could only be in one of those two places. Leah was probably home doing nothing.

Finally my stop came and I stepped out of the subway. I smiled, thinking of seeing Simon and Martina up close, and how my friends would freak out when they knew.

The next thing I knew, I was flying in the air and felt glass shards impale my face when I landed.
