Chapter 2

The ordeal that they have gone through was worse than anything Yuri could have imagined. They were treated as if they were hardcore criminals, were stripped down, hosed before getting probed. They were treated so harshly that Yuri won’t even be surprise that at the end of it all, they would end up getting shot in the head.

“OH C’MON!!!!” Taeyeon yells as she and the girls were getting shoved inside a padded room. “After what you guys did to us, you’re all gonna lock us in one room?!!!”

The guard raises his brow at the hot tempered short girl.

“Ok, you and the reporter could be in another.”

“If that’s the case then this room is just fine.”

Taeyeon stomps away and huffing frustratingly before plopping on the hard mattress.

“So, this is what a mental patient feels like”

Taeyeon always the factual one observes the padded room that they were lock on.

“So, you’re admitting that you’re thinking like a mental patient?” Jessica adds

“You? Why are you such a sarcastic little biyatch?”

Yuri has no strength to referee or even stay awake at all. She slowly crawls into a bunk, curling herself into a ball as Taeyeon and Jessica continue to lunge insults at each other.

“Awww… Do a certain dark skinned girl miss a really beautiful doctor?

Yuri turns around to see the girls with a stupid pout on their faces. But instead of cussing the girls out to leave her alone, Yuri just huff frustratingly before turning to face the wall again.

It was Yuri’s kind personality that was both her strength and weakness. She would remember Yoona constantly getting on her about it, that she’s too good of a person that she’s just letting people walk all over her.

But as much as Yoona fight with her about it, Yoona couldn’t help but admit that it’s just one of the billion things that she have fallen for.

“She’s dating someone?” Jessica’s ears peeked at the mention of Yuri missing somebody.

“Yup. this doctor who looks like a K-pop idol… I didn’t know how someone like Yoona fell for a ******* like Yuri.”

Yuri growls lightly burying herself under the covers.

“Oh” After harboring a long crush on the detective, Jessica couldn’t help but feel disappointed. “So, ummm… detective”

“Oh… you don’t need to call me detective, just call me Yuri.”

“Oh, ok… Yuri…” Jessica gives out an airy giggle, obviously trying to sound attractive.

“Kekekekekekeke”

Jessica scowls at the midget who mockingly giggles to infuriate her more.

How long do you think they’re going to keep us here?”

“Let me answer that…” Hyoyeon join in the conversation “in my opinion, until Sergeant douchehead sure that Yoona is all his, he can keep us here for a long, long time. I’m sorry Yul, you’re my buddy and all but I’m just saying.”

“I know…God… I know”

Yuri almost tumbled over as Sooyoung tries to smack some sense into her, like literally.

“Gosh… Yul! You know you have nothing to worry about. You know Doc only wants you, I don’t know why since I have longer legs but…”

“LIGHTS OFF”

They wonder why they would even announce it, when the whole place just shuts down automatically whether they choose to or not.

“Don’t worry, let’s just all try to get some sleep… Don’t worry Yul, tomorrow we’ll be out here in no time…”

God, how Yuri hopes so…

Flashback

“Yoong? Baby? I’m home…”

After a long day, Yuri was anticipating to come home to Yoona’s hugs and kisses, but instead Yuri was met with utter silence…

“Yoong?”

After a few steps inside their shared apartment, Yuri saw the prettiest backside in the world, a few steps more and she could hear Yoona furiously chopping something.

“Hi…”

Yuri leans for a kiss on a cheek, but Yoona quickly swerve away before Yuri can try anything.

“W-what did I do?”

Yoona huffs frustratingly as she looks back into her lover’s hopeless eyes. She knew she has no right to be angry and she was just being irrational again.

She should know that Yuri wasn’t like any other girls she dated who would jump at the chance when some hot girl is all over her. Yuri probably doesn’t even know that the hot reporter was flirting like crazy with her during that news segment.

“That news report?” Yoona finally pointed it out.

“W-what about it?” Yuri stares at her in confusion.

“It’s supposed to be a news segment about the police department, but what do you do?” Yoona kept on grilling the dumbfounded girl.

She wasn’t pleased that what was supposed to be a news segment about their city’s police force, turned into like an entertainment show, showing off Yuri and her hotness to the whole city.

“W-well… The captain asks me to do the interview…”

“Why on Earth would you flex your bicep and let that news reporter Jessica Jung just touch it???!!!!”

Yoona have so much more things to spat about but quickly recoiled when she saw Yuri’s eyes turned watery.

Yuri if not one, is actually one of the best female cops in the department but the moment Yoona would get mad at her, Yuri couldn’t help but tear up. She was just too in love with Yoona that the thought of disappointing or hurting Yoona is enough to break her heart.

“I-I was… I’m sorry…” Yuri apologize her head hanging low… “They said it’ll make it more entertaining if I you know… ummm… show something…”

“It’s supposed to be about the police department…” Yoona pout “Not about your biceps… and definitely not about you and Jess- OW!”

“Yoong!”

Yoona grimace at the blood dripping from her cut finger. But before she could react to it, Yuri have took her bloodied finger.

All it took was Yuri’s whimpered eyes that made all of Yoona’s anger fizzle away. The poor worried girl hurriedly turns on the faucet, pulling Yoona’s finger under the water.

“Yul?”

Yuri was too busy pulling everything out of their medicine cabinet to hear Yoona…

“Yul, I’ll be ok…”

“No…” Yuri pulls an ointment out “This might sting a bit, ok?”

“Yes… doctor…” Yoona teases lightly, watching as Yuri gently applied the ointment on her wound, quickly blowing on it so it wouldn’t sting. Her eyes never left Yuri, as Yuri tear the band aid off, wrapping it around Yoona’s finger.

“If you give it a kiss, it would all be better.”

Yuri finally look at Yoona with such hopeful eyes and Yoona smiles back, Yuri pulls the finger to her lips, kissing it softly. And without any words necessary, all was forgiven.

Yuri pulls Yoona in a warm embrace, burying herself in the crane of Yoona’s neck.

“You worry too much, baby…” Yoona whispers.

“I can’t help it.” Yuri looks at Yoona “It kills me to see you hurt.”

Yoona smiles before pressing her lips on Yuri.

“I don’t think I could ever get hurt, not when I have supergirl by me…”

And before Yoona’s super girl could react, Yoona drown Yuri in a passionate kiss.

And as Yoona pulls Yuri back to their room, Yuri could only smile. Yoona was her own personal kryptonite. But if that was the case, then, Yuri know that she was going to die happy.

End of flashback…

Yuri could feel her heart beating rapidly as the images of Yoona suddenly dissolves. She woke up drench in sweat as the sudden blaring alarm and the flashing red light shot her back to consciousness.

She could hear the chaos happening right outside their door.

“Hurry, hurry…”

Yuri could hear the panic stricken voices from the hallways coupled with some hurried footsteps…

UAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH

Yuri didn’t have to guess what could have happened next.

“AHHHHH SH!T!!!!!”

BANG.BANG. BANG. BANG.

UAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH

BANG.BANG.BANG.

“There is too many of them, fall back, fall back!”

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Yuri unconsciously covers her ears as she could hear the horror happening right outside her door.

She looks around at the faces of her comrades, their faces drained of any sign of hope or even life.

And just when they thought they would wake up to reality, they end up waking to a nightmare.

If Yoona’s worries were already at its peak, it grew much worse when she sees the institution surrounded by firemen, police cars and swat team.

“YOONG!!!!!”

Seohyun yells out as her bestfriend practically jumped out of the running vehicle.

“What’s going on officer Kang?”

“There was some ahhhh… ummm… ahhh…” Daesung stuttered worried on how he could explain it to the already nervous doctor.

“What?”

“The institution is in lock down right now, the ummm… monsters that were supposed to be under observations have gotten loose and are now roaming around in the hospital…”

“Loose? So do you mean? It’s like a…”

“KANG!”

Daesung just let out a low growl when that musclehead was yelling for him again.

“Hand me the megaphone right now, I will try to reason with these A-holes.”

“But sir… I don’t think now is the right…”

Like Taecyeon has the ability to reason, he yanks the megaphone away…

“Hello I’m… ACCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!”

Taecyeon shrieks out when a disfigured body came crashing down from one of the windows.

“Kang! KANG!!!!”

Taecyeon starts to panic as the undead despite its head almost severed from its neck was gnashing it’s teeth for a bite of Taecyeon’s ankles.

BANG.BANG.BANG

As much as Daesung wasn’t really planning to save him, he knew his mom won’t be so happy if he just let the guy get bit.

“SIR! SIR!!!”

A uniformed officer runs towards Taecyeon.

“What?!”

“Its Agent Yang, he wants to have a word with you”

Taecyeon full expression have completely change at the mention of the name. His face so full of hesitation as if this could conversation could lead to more complication.

“Hello?”

Taecyeon answers the phone nervously.

“TAECYEON! YOU STUPID FUKC!!!”

Daesung snickers in the corner.

“Officer Yang, it’s not time to be unreasonable right now.”

“I’m unreasonable?! I’m UNREASONABLE!!!! You send me and my team to annihilate these monsters, when were you planning to tell me that’s there about a hundred of them?”

Everyone who has an ear on the conversation have turned a judgmental eye towards the sergeant.

“Four of my men have already died trying to fight them, and I’m sure more will.”

“It’s our duty as officers…”

“FUKC YOU!!!! You don’t know anything about the word duty because all you do is kiss the of the higher ups! You don’t know how it feels to see your team getting eaten alive, because you don’t give a crap about your team!!!!”

“What do you want?!”

“I want you to send reinforcement. People are dying every second in here and you’re not doing crap!”

“You know we can’t do that.”

“There are civilians dying in here too…”

“Risks have to be made…”

“Keep on talking like that and I’ll handle this my own way.”

“What are you talking about?!”

“The only way we could save ourselves here, is if we get out of here and the only chance of that happening is if we open entrances.”

“You can’t do that! Those monsters will get out!”

“So what do you want us to do?! Get ourselves eaten?! We can’t control them! There are around 60-100, I DON’T KNOW! I was too busy shooting them to count how many they were…”

“We are going to give you forty eight hours to think, if not, I’m sure you’ll have fun playing videogames with the real zombies in it.”

“OFFICER!”

It was hopeless for Taecyeon to scream as he was met with the dial tone.

This time Yoona have no problems touching Taec, yanking him around to face her.

“What does he mean by annihilate?”

“The chief ordered us to get rid of every one in that hospital, just to make sure…”

“Yuri is in there! You’re going to kill her!”

“Yoona, think about it this way, Yuri is going to die a hero… and you could get full benefits of-“

PAK!

Everybody secretly applaud as Yoona smacks Taecyeon hard on the cheek.

“How dare you?! You think money will make up for losing my wife?! I’d rather be dead than live if she’s not with me.”

“Yoong?”

Seohyun knew that wherever Yoona is storming off, she won’t come back with a better plan.

“What do you think you’re doing?!”

And Seohyun was right, when she sees Yoona grabbing a 45 mm automatic from the glove compartment.

“Don’t worry Seo, Yuri takes me to the shooting range on our dates. I know how to use these things.”

“Look, it’s different when you’re shooting a moving target compared to a piece of paper mounted on the wall”

“I know that, but if you run out of options, you don’t really have the luxury of time to find a better idea.”

Seohyun turns to Tiffany hoping she could convince Yoona to think about what she’s doing.

“Look, I know you Yoong, you are a perfectionist who plans every step carefully.” Tiffany finally steps in “Do you think it’s smart to go in there without a plan?”

“I do have a plan.” Yoona corrected her friend “Get in there, shoot anyone who comes in my way and get Yuri.”

“You’re being ridiculous!” Seohyun who have always has the right thing to say was now at a lack for words.

“If you were in my place, won’t you do the same thing?”

Hey! Yuwree is one of the smartest cops I know… If anybody could survive this it would be her.”

“Why does it always have to be her?” Yoona almost cried out.

“What?”

“She’s a good person, yet it’s like she’s always been the one who gets caught up in this mess that those jerks does! And truth is, this is my fault, this is all my fault. Yuri shouldn’t be in there… So, for once in my life I want to be the one who save the one that I love.”

Yoona looks back at her friends, still with the same, or probably even more determination than she had earlier.

“Well, if you’re going… then, I’m coming with you.”

Both Yoona and Seohyun were stuck as they saw Tiffany step up.

“U-unnie, you don’t have to”

“I want to Yoong, were going to get through this together.”

“Well, if you two are going then count me in.”

Seohyun nods stepping up.

“Ummm… ahhh… thanks…” Yoona wrap her arms around her two friends.

“Don’t worry I know we have nothing to be worried about.”

The two younger doctors turned towards their unnie.

“Because I know Yoona’s supergirl will save us”

“Oh crap”

Taeyeon quickly dives down to the hard floor when she sees an undead through their door’s mesh window.

“What on Earth is going on?”

“They got out… God damn those things got out”

The others girls hurriedly went over the door, the low moans coming from the monsters were disturbing but not as bad as seeing more than 20 of them dragging themselves around.

“We can’t be here…”

The girls turned to Yuri’s hushed tone.

“We can’t just stay here in this room and prayed to God that they won’t notice, the moment they realize were here. They’re going to swarm the door and we won’t have any chance of escaping. We have to get out of here.”

“But we don’t have nothing Yul… no weapons, nothing…”

“We are not going to fight them, we are going to run away, that’s what were going to do. We are on the sixth floor right now.”

“Dude, if we step out there, it would be like suicide…”

Sooyoung tries to reason out but Yuri doesn’t seem to be convinced

“So does staying in here, we can’t just do this, both of these choices have high risk. We have to take the choice where we have a higher chance of survival.”

“I agree…”

Jessica nods even if she didn’t hear a word that Yuri said, yes she admit that seeing the girl take charge was just too y that she tuned out anything that Yuri said and just started fantasizing. So, what if Yuri is with someone? It doesn’t hurt to fantasize, right?

“Oh please… Yuri could say jump off the freaking window and you would probably will” Taeyeon snorted

“Well, if I jump, I’ll make sure I’m taking you with me!”

“Awwww…” Sooyoung coos “Til death do us part…”

“That’s enough” Yuri finally spoke up and soon everyone gave her their full attention. “This is not the time to be arguing, we have something much worse happening. And going out there divided won’t save us, we have to do this together. So, Taeyeon and Shika… you two need to work things out…”

“Could I just work things out with you?” Jessica mutters under her breath

“Right now, were in the sixth floor west wing, our goal is to get to the entrance at the 1^st floor. Elevators are out of the question, so we have to take the stairs. The closest ones to us is the one by the left corner.”

“Ok, so how do we get there?”

“As quietly and as quickly as we could…”

“Sounds like a plan, not necessarily good but it’s a plan.” Hyoyeon nods. “Only problem we have now is, how do we get out of here?”

“Hmmm…”

The girls turn around to the doctor, they couldn’t figure out what to make for Taeyeon’s devious smirk…

“I wouldn’t worry so much about that…” Taeyeon probably hinted out…

“Huh? What are you talking about?”

“Let’s just say I wasn’t just asking him about the room…”

And the girls could only gasp in awe as they saw Taeyeon smirking deviously as she swings the key card she sneakily got from the guard.

“How are we even going to get inside?”

Seohyun wonders as she and her fellow doctors were nearing the hospital.

“Since all doors are closed, the best option we have is to break a window.”

“Ohhh… this is getting exciting…”
Seohyun quickly turns to her unnie with a disapproving look.

“But Yoong, won’t breaking a window attract those?”

“It will. That’s why after we do it, we go as quickly as we can.”

Yoona was standing in front of the hospital window, she tried prying it open but to no avail. Yoona switch her gun around, as she was ready to smash the window open with the of her gun.

“Wait…” Seohyun stops her “This might trigger an alarm.”

Yoona heaves a deep sigh, this is not what she needs right now, somebody questioning her every action.

“It might and might not. All I could hope for is after this uproar they completely shut off everything.”

Yoona took off her jacket and hands it to Seo…

“Hold it over the window…”

But before Seohyun could question Yoona again, Tiffany grabs the jacket herself holding it over the window. Yoona starts to tap the glass over the jacket, making it almost soundless. She looks up at Tiffany, and Tiffany could only sigh worriedly, this was a chance they have to take.

The three grimace at the sound that the shattered glass make, and to their relief there wasn’t any alarm blaring. They slowly crept inside the hospital, wary that any second a ghoul might come out of nowhere. But they were lucky when they walk in to a hospital room, completely deserted.

“What now?”

“Were on the first floor right now, we need to get access to a computer or something, hopefully see their patient’s log, find what floor Yuri is then get her out of here.”

The girls walk to the door. Yoona turning to her friends.

“You girls ready?”

The girls weren’t but in times like this, who was really ready?

“Ready?”

Yuri asks the four girls behind her. They could only nod in response. Truth is, without any weapons and any decent plan none of them were probably even Yuri.

Yuri turns her head to check the vicinity, and it looked like the ghouls have already cause their damage, as Yuri could see the wall being splattered with crimson red, to their left they could see a trail of blood, leading to a disfigured body of one of the guards.

“Yuri… what are you doing?” Sooyoung hissed as Yuri walks closer to the cadaver.

Yuri tries to keep her stomach in as she looks away from the gutless corpse in front of her, intestines and organs all mashed up in a pulp. Yuri hurriedly look to see what she came for. Until she sees the gun still in the corpse tight grip. She pries it out of the guard’s hand, before wiping the blood unto the corpse’s pants.
“It’s better than going with nothing, lets go…”

The girls didn’t even reach the corner when the sight of a man hunched over on the ground, sounds of flesh being squished and swallowed was enough to leave them bothered.

Yuri lays a finger on her lips, motioning the girls to turn the other way as the man seems distracted at the intestines wrap around his grip to notice them.

“Soo, you take the back, just to make sure no one from behind would attack us…”Yuri whispered…

Yuri started to move forward, Jessica was right beside her, wrap around her arms, Taeyeon followed, Hyoyeon while Sooyoung was at the back.

RUAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHH

Yuri takes a few steps back as she sees what used to be a guard have turned into a monster, looking at them viciously.

The girls quickly turned to the opposite direction. only to be met by four bodies slacking themselves toward them, ready to tear their flesh into pieces.

RUAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHH

Yuri turns back and saw the man who used to be hunched over the dead body was now coming towards them.

One guard coming from the East, Four bodies coming from their West and one body coming from the South.

Yuri have to make a decision now.

BANG. BANG.

The guard fell down on his knees as Yuri shot two bullets right between his two brows.

“RUN!”

The girls made a mad dash for it, their hearts almost bursting out of their chest as they run out of their lives. Yuri turns around and sees the five ghouls are now gaining ground at them.

“OOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFF”

Sooyoung landed on the ground as she tripped over her own feet.

“Soo…” Hyoyeon hurriedly runs over to her comrade, pulling the tall girl up on her feet. “Ahhh crap…”

RUUUUUUUUUAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH

The girls eyes widened in horror as they saw the five ghouls a few feet away from them. The two quickly scrambled on their feet, but find it useless when a grimy hands have wrap around Sooyoung’s leg. Sooyoung squeeze her eyes shut, ready for the inevitable when the sound of gun shots.

BANG. BANG.

Sooyoung opens her eyes right on time to see the monster that was about to make her his dinner, falling to the ground. And there, standing right between her and Hyoyeon and the ghouls is Yuri.

“GO! GO! GO!”

Yuri shouts at them as she continues firing at the incoming danger.

“B-but…” Sooyoung wasn’t going to let her buddy die.

“GO! GO! GO!”

Yuri screams again.

“Let’s go!!!”

Hyoyeon hurriedly drags away the frozen Sooyoung who watches helplessly as her bestfriend was once again risking her life for them.

Yuri clenches her teeth tightly, her arms were shaking worse than before, making her miss her target more than once.

“Crap…”

Yuri starts taking deep, hurried breaths hoping to calm herself down. She wonders why this is making her more scared than before, but she didn’t have time to contemplate. She raises her arms back again.

But just when she thought she could calm down, the sight of what’s in front of her scared the remaining strength left out of her.

The sound of the gun shots and loud probably attracted the rest of the monsters. And now, Yuri could see around eight more ghouls coming out of nowhere, making their way straight at her.

At this time, Yuri thought of Yoona, her darling, her sweetheart, and her sole reason why she’s trying her best to stay alive. She wants to marry her, to have their kids running around their home, to grow old with her.

No matter what it takes, she have to make it out alive.

She raises her arms again, and the thought of Yoona calm her enough that it made her shoot more targets.

Yuri felt every chance, every hope inside of her died as the bullets run out just when she was closing in to make it.

There was still around three of them making their way to Yuri. The calmness and composure that Yuri once had, had vanished that she even lost the strength to move.

She digs her fingernails into her pants, panting heavily as she remains frozen in fear.

She shuts her eyes, and thoughts of Yoona came flooding in. Her smile, her laughter, her cute pout, their kisses, their promises, she had her memories and that was all that was left of her.

“I’m sorry, baby…”
