Chapter 1

Flashback…

Yuri couldn’t even stand upright with how exhausted she was as she was stuck doing night patrols again. As much as she wants to protest why she and Sooyoung and Hyoyeon were being given bogus cases instead of real cases, she decided not to.

As frustrating and angry as it made her, she knew she had to keep it all in if she wants to keep her job. She needed it, she needed the money especially since she wants to give Yoona the wedding of her dreams.

She slowly turns the knob and expected their shared apartment to be dark, but instead there was a dim light over the kitchen and Yoona sleeping on the kitchen table. The tired expression on her lover’s face made it obvious that Yoona have been researching again, all the case file folders and books sprawled around her.

Yoona let out a soft moan as she felt herself getting lifted off her feet.

“Yul?”

Yuri smiles at her sleepy lover as she carries Yoona to their bedroom.

“You fell asleep while working again…” Yuri kisses Yoona on the nose “I told you not to work so hard…”

“I… I wasn’t…” Yoona lied while burying herself in Yuri’s chest… “I was just finishing the reports for the press conference tomorrow…”


Yuri lays Yoona in bed, gently tucking Yoona underneath the covers. Yuri couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle as Yoona yawns so cutely, like one of those baby cubs you see on TV.

“You’re not going to sleep yet?”

Yoona felt all her sleepiness going away as she watches Yuri ing her shirt.

“I want to shower first…”

“I don’t mind you being a little dirty…”

Yuri catches Yoona with an equally dirty smile on her face too…

“I thought you were sleepy?” Yuri teases as she walks over to their bed, enjoying how Yoona was already devouring her with her eyes.

“I’m fully awake now…”

Yuri pecks Yoona’s lips a couple of times before snuggling to the warmth in her bed, slipping her arms around Yoona.

“How was work, my super girl?”

Yuri closes her eyes, planting a soft kiss on Yoona’s shoulder “Horrible… Since captain is away, Taec thinks he can do whatever he wants.”

“Yuri felt the bed shifting as Yoona turn so she could see her face.
“I’m sorry about that…”

“Let’s not talk about him…” Yuri playfully opens one eye catching Yoona staring back at her. “Tell me how’s your day, doc?”

“Ummm…” Yoona has a cute pout on her face that she does when she’s thinking, her legs slowly making its way around Yuri’s waist. “Tiring… These cases drain heck out of you, I don’t know what I’m even looking for.”

Yuri have crawled on top of Yoona, pecking Yoona’s face sweetly.

“Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?”

They both know what they wanted, but Yuri wanted to hear it anyways.

“Make love to me…”

And not a second had pass and their lips met in dizzying fury, breaths turning rapid while their tongues dance against each other in a frenzy. Yoona was so lost in their kiss that she didn’t even realize that Yuri have rob her off her clothes, leaving her in just her silk underwear.

It was when Yoona felt Yuri between her thighs when she forgot how to breathe. But soon her breathing returns to normal before it ended up going out of pace again. As if Yuri’s moves whether she goes faster or slower, deeper or softly were dictating how her body functions.

Yoona wraps her legs around Yuri’s waist, while they slowly move to wherever pleasure brings them.

Their insatiable lust for each other hadn’t change even from before they were first dating. It was in these moments where Yoona would drive out the monster out of Yuri. Hearing Yoona asking her to take her more, the sound of their moans loud enough to echo throughout their apartment, it was Yuri’s driving force and Yuri would always end up wanting more.

Yoona arches her neck, burying her head into their pillow.

“Oh God… Baby…”

“I know, love…”

Yuri nibbles on Yoona’s neck, she was well aware of how close Yoona was. She drowned Yoona in more kisses while her touches continue to satisfy Yoona’s cravings. Until Yoona let out a gasp, collapsing herself in their bed.

Yoona smiles drowsily through their soft chaste shared kisses. Snuggling closely as she fell asleep in Yuri’s arms and kisses.

And if anyone would ask her how her day went, all Yuri would happily say is Yoona made her day.

End of flashback…

Her eyes tries to adjust to the unfamiliar place, with only the building lights shining pass the window serving as her light, Yoona tries to make sense of where she was now.

After a few seconds it dawn on her that she has been sleeping in a hospital bed.

And that fact scared the living daylights out of her.

Her hands frantically starts to roam her body, silently praying that she wouldn’t find any wound, bite, cut, mark or any indication that she was close to being infected.

“Yoong! Yoong! Hey Baby… its okay”

Yuri quickly wraps her arms protectively around her girl, Yoona’s breaths haggard and rampant making Yuri’s hold on her much tighter.

“Yul… I’m so…” Fear have stricken such a deep grief on Yoona that words were starting to jumble on . She decides to just give up and get lost in Yuri’s embrace. “I’m so scared…”

Yuri closes her eyes, pressing a kiss on Yoona’s hair. She couldn’t admit to Yoona that she was so damn scared too…

“Don’t worry… It’s all over…”

“No Yul…”

“What?”

“It’s just starting…”

Yoona’s words were like a bucket of ice completely thrown over Yuri’s head.

“Yoong?”

“These bizarre cases that we have been having, it’s not drug related like we reported. We don’t even know how this is even happening. As of now, Yul, we don’t know what were fighting against.”

Yuri cups Yoona’s face, staring deeply into those worried doe eyes.

“I’m going to take us out of here…”

“But the case?”

“Screw it, we need to get away Yoong… If we stay here, I’m just going to put you in more danger. And I won’t let that happen.”

“But Yul, we don’t know what’s out there either. For all we know they’re hiding as much as we are.”

Yuri’s arms fell lifelessly beside her, knowing that Yoona has a point and she was being irrational.

Yoona wished to wipe away the worried look on Yuri’s face, gently kissing the side of her lips before she lay their lips together.

“I will be okay Yul, because I have you… I wish I could protect you too…”

Yuri takes in more of Yoona, her arms wrapping tightly as their lips perfectly meld in a deep kiss.

“Ummm Yul?”

Yuri pulls away, letting out a soft growl as she was interrupted.

“Sorry dude…”

Yuri sighs frustratingly before turning to face Sooyoung with the apologetic look on her face.

“What is it?”

“Can I talk to you for a second?” She says in trepidation, knowing how Yuri probably can’t wait to hurt her right now… “Hi Yoong…”

Sooyoung waves at Yoona, at least if she wins Yoona’s affection, she knows there’s a big chance that Yuri might spare her.

“Hello unnie…”

“Can it wait?” Yuri slices in through the conversation.

“It’s ok baby…” Yoona coos her fuming lover.

Despite the obvious frown on Yuri’s face, she still nods. Everything Yoona asks of Yuri, Yuri obviously fulfills.

“It’s ok Yul, I’m a doctor too… And I just…” It embarrassed Yoona to admit how she just lose control of her senses that time…

“Hey… Hey…” And just like that Yuri knows what’s going on with her girl. “It’s ok… I’m not going to let anything happen to you…”

“I know…” Yoona’s eyes disappear in a smile.

“Okay…” Yuri presses a kiss on Yoona’s forehead. “I’m a call the doctor too, ask him if you could go home tonight…”

“Where is he?” Yuri snarls angrily when she steps out into the hallway.

“Where’s who?”

“That jerk who said he’s going to protect my wife?”

“Hey… hey… hey!” Sooyoung tries to calm Yuri down. “Take it easy…Yoona’s okay now… so, just relax.”

“But what would happen to her if I didn’t go up there in time?” Yuri’s eyes were starting to get filled with worry “I’m not going to let her do this case, not anymore…”

“But this case is not going to go away anytime soon, Yul. In fact, they have found another body.”

Yuri turns her gaze back at the door.

“I… I can’t… not now… Yoona needs me… Is there anyone else who could do this case?”

“Well, truth is, Sergeant specifically told us to go.”

Actually, it was just Yuri who their sergeant wanted to send. But Hyoyeon and Sooyoung were not going to let their bestfriend go defenseless against some unknown creatures. The three of them might end up dead, but at least they died together.

And Yuri’s anger for the man was boiling to its limits. How completely sick is this man? To send her out on the front lines knowing she might end up being eaten alive or worse reanimate into a monster.

“Look Yul… if we survive the first time, then were going to survive the rest.”

“Detective…”

Yuri turns to the fresh faced, tall doctor. Dr. Seo was not just one of Yoona’s closest colleagues, she was also her bestfriend.

“Is Yoona doing ok?”

“Yes. She is.”

“That’s good to hear… I want to talk to you about officer Park. Can you try to recount what had happen?”

Yuri rubs her temple, that ist pig was the least of her worries now, all she’s worried about it is how Yoona is doing. But she’s a cop and she knows that Seo was just doing her work.

“We ummm… He was the officer on call who brought us to the scene. When we got there we saw this man hunch over our victim, he was… he was…” Yuri wonders if she should even say it, fearing Seo might think she’s going insane “he was like eating his face.”

To her surprise, Seohyun doesn’t seem bothered at all.

I told him to step back, but he didn’t, officer Park fired some shots and the ummm… suspect, he turned to us and he caught officer Park’s leg and chew it. I ummmm… I warned him again but he didn’t listen so I shot him. Ummm… how is officer Park by the way?”

“Right now were putting him in a battery of tests. His vital statistics are all dropping. His temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation.”

Seohyun heaves a deep sigh.

“Our seniors say it was normal for an overweight, unhealthy man who underwent trauma to experience that dip in his vital stats but I… ummm…”

I think its more than that… But what does Seohyun knows? As intelligent as she was, still she is nothing more but a resident to these senior doctors. Her opinions, the facts she had gathered were only laughed at. None of them believing or even hearing her that this “drug related outbreak” was more grave than they all thought.

Seohyun stops and forces a smile. “Anyways, take care of Yoong for me, Yul…”

“I will.”

That, Seohyun knows.

“Yoong? I…”

Yuri slowly closes the door behind her. She tiptoes towards the beautiful girl sleeping before pressing a soft kiss on her hair.

“I love you…”

Yuri rips a note from the pad paper and quickly scribbles on it. Leaving a note for Yoona aside from kissing her on the cheek.

“I’ll be back, I promise…”

“Ugh! There goes my appetite…” Sooyoung cringes as she sees a torso of a man, with its limbs scattered around the forest grounds and trees. “And I thought the last one was bad enough…”

Yuri snaps her hand inside her latex gloves, walking right over to Taeyeon who was crouch over an upper torso, his intestines mesh together to which it become indistinguishable.

“Hey Yul…”

“Hey… be careful, ok?” Yuri pats Taeyeon’s shoulder protectively

“I might have short legs but I could run fast. And Yoona always told me you were super girl so… I think I’ll be safe… kekeke…”

Yuri turns away to hide her blush at Yoona’s nickname for her.

“Or does that supergirl mean something else?”

It completely meant something else but Yuri wasn’t going to admit that…

“Oh ummm… well… so the body?”

“Oh yeah that… Well…” Taeyeon looks speculatively at what was left of what she needed to work with. “Judging how the body parts seems to be scattered everywhere, I think we are looking at multiple suspects here, attacking more than one victim. The victim well, from what is left of him, I could see is around 18-25 years old, heavily built so whoever did attack him, well, is quite strong to be able to pin him down and attack him.”

“Do you ummm… think it will turn into one?”

“You mean into a zombie? Hmmm… I have never encounter any victim that has their heads almost detach from their bodies, so I don’t think its possible for the brain to function if it doesn’t have the rest of the body to puppet it.”

Taeyeon says in a hush tone… Somehow that calm Yuri a bit, but it didn’t last long as Taeyeon continues.

“But judging how this might happen just a few hours ago. The monsters who did this, there is a huge chance they’re still here…”

“Could you hurry up?”

Jessica demands from her cameraman wheezing as they climb up the steep hill. She was the one wearing heels but she was way ahead of her round cameraman.

“Of all the people they could send, they send me the Pillsbury dough boy”

“Miss Jung… shouldn’t we be in the dog show?”

“Look! you think doing a report on a poodle hopping around in a tutu will land me a gig on national TV? Yeah right… like no…”

“HEY! What are you doing here?!”

Jessica growls at the sight of the annoying midget that seems to mess up her flow everytime she comes close to a big story.

“It was her idea!”

Jessica could only roll her eyes at her fat cameraman rats her out.

“Oh well… well… well…” Jessica steps closer to the fuming midget “If it isn’t Korea’s detective conan…”

“SHUDDUP!!! ARREST HER! ARREST HER!”

“Taeyeon… geez… doc… relax…” Hyoyeon tries to calm Taeyeon off.

“The media is not allowed here… so, shut that damn camera off!”

“Ever heard of freedom of speech, I have the right to inform the public of what’s going on…”

“You’re going to be in the news if you don’t leave.”

“Is that a threat, officer?”

“What’s going on?”

Jessica clears at the sight of Det. Kwon Yuri angrily approaching them. The detective looks more like a movie star than a cop. Jessica couldn’t help but lust over Yuri in her button down white polo and gun on her holster.

She had always had a big, fat crush on the detective, even if Yuri never gave her the time of day as a reporter and as a girl.

“She’s here again”

“Look… detective, the public are getting freaked out with these bizarre murders. They want to know what they need to do and hiding it from them won’t do anything but make them more vulnerable to these attacks. I’m just doing my job as a reporter and that is to inform the public.”

Yuri sighs exasperatingly but knows that the annoying reporter has a point.

“Ok. But look, I’m letting you do an interview but do not take a video of the victim as a sign of respect for him and his family. He already died a terrible death, there is no need to make a media circus over someone’s tragedy.”

Blah.blah.blah. that’s what Jessica says, the girl is practically on cloud nine the moment Yuri said she’s allowing the interview.

“So, I’m doing the interview with you?” Jessica smile excitedly…

“No… how about Dr. Kim here?”

“Say that again?” Taeyeon raise her brow…

“Me? Her? No way… uh uh!”

“But no one has more credible facts than Dr. Kim, so please answer her questions for me. Thanks.”

Taeyeon and Jessica growls and for once the two agreed on something, that both of them don’t want anything to do with each other.

“Where did Yuri go?”

Tiffany sighs heavily as she sees how worried Yoona looks. And she couldn’t blame her, not when she saw the horrible what ifs that have now become possible.

“Well, she and the girls went to investigate something. She told me to stay with you until she gets back.”

From the look on Yoona’s face, Tiffany’s words didn’t help at all.

“What? Please don’t tell me it’s not one of those case?”

“I’m not sure… It’s ok Yoong… You know you got a tough girl…”

“Doctor…”

Just when Yoona thought her day couldn’t get any worse, here was this sergeant again making things worse as it already is…

“Are you doing ok?”

He looks like one of those guys in Korean dramas with an overly exaggerated fake concern on his face.

“I’am because Yuri is there.” Yoona looks away “I’m surprise that you didn’t lose your voice, after shrieking that much.”

Daesung tries to suppress his laugh as he could literally see steam coming out of Taecyeon’s elephant ears.

“Ummm ahhh… that was officer Kang.” Taecyeon denies pointing to Daesung.

Daesung shakes his head in irritation.

“I swear to God, Yoong, I wanted to shoot him but the fear that I might accidentally hit you. I couldn’t bear that thought… The thought of you getting hurt just kills me…”

“I hope it does…” Daesung mutters under his breath. “Well, I’m glad you are doing, ok, doctor. You got a tough girl in Yuri.”

His eyes disappear as he smiles sincerely.

“I know… thanks detective.”

“But these days Yoong you need to lookout for yourself…” Taecyeon wasn’t going to lose. “With our jobs and especially with these bizarre attacks…”

Taecyeon’s lips curve into a sinister smirk.

“We don’t even know if Det. Kwon could make it out alive.”

“How do I look?” Taeyeon pouts her lips and posed…

“Like the next KPOP star…”

“Oh yeah”

How can anyone as intelligent as Dr. Kim and officers as decorated as Det. Kim and Det. Choi be such little kids, nobody could tell.

“Can we get this interview over with?”

“Hush! This is my first TV appearance, Taengoo got to look hot”

“I’m a reporter not a plastic surgeon”

“What’s that supposed to mean?!”

URGHHHH…

The girls spun around trying to decipher what is making such awful sounds.

“What is that?! Who on Earth is trying to ruin my first TV appearance?” Taeyeon frowns but before she could find out the source of the sound…

“UAAAAAHHHHHHH”

“Yoona… slow down…”

Tiffany tries to keep up as Yoona was dashing out of the hospital corridors.

“Don’t let that jerk get into your head… Yuri is ok…”

Yoona finally stops turning around to face Tiffany…

“But what if she isn’t?”

“What can we do, Yoong? Think about it…” Tiffany grabs a hold of Yoona, shaking her if it was the only way to get some sense back in her head. “If we get into whatever they’re in now, were only going to make it worse.”

“This just in from our reporter Jessica Jung…”

Yoona and Tiffany turns to the TV inside the waiting room.

“Isn’t that the girl who wants to get it on with Yuri?”

Yoona couldn’t even answer, her face getting pale every second.

“Jessica is on location in Heinsborough National park where the 4^th victim of these bizarre murders has been located. Only our station has a live footage of what is happening at the moment.”

The atmosphere around the hospital couldn’t be more grave, but none of them could look as pale and scared as Yoona.

“What the hell?!”

Sooyoung pulls her gun out, taking a step back at the four horribly decomposing men have suddenly appears from beyond the trees. Their eyes lifeless, their flesh slouching off their decaying bodies.

UAAAAAAAARRGGGGGHHHHHH

One of the men lurch towards Sooyoung making her lose her footing… A bloody mouth was ready to gnash itself at Sooyoung and Sooyoung couldn’t help but just laugh.

The irony of it all… Sooyoung always imagine herself dying because of the food she ate when she was alive, not because she became food and got eaten alive. But oh well… nice one there, God… nice one…

“SOOYOUNG!!!”

The camera was all shaky as Shindong couldn’t even focus on the horror in front of him.

Yuri gasps in horror as she sees her bestfriend about to get chewed off, but now she has two rotting bodies reaching out with their grimy hands trying to grab her as well.

Of all the stupid times her gun starts to jam it was right now, Sooyoung let out a growl before colliding the of her gun on the zombie’s head, she cringe as she felt the black ooze spraying all over her.

I.WILL. NOT.BE. EATEN. ALIVE!!!!

Sooyoung continues to deliver hard blows to the zombie’s cranium, harder and harder until Sooyoung’s gun starts to sink into a mesh of gooey flesh.

“SOOYOUNG!!!”

Sooyoung kicks the rotting flesh off her, before growling out in frustration.

UAAAAHHHHHH…

“What?” Yuri turns right in time to see their “victim’s head” gnashing what’s left of its jaw on one of the investigator’s hand.

Shindong could feel something warm and wet trickling down his pants, and in his horror and irrationality drops his camera and forces his legs to bolt. “Shoot! I’m outta here!”

“Shindong !!!”

The camera drops on the forest grounds and everyone who was watching the broadcast has to hold their breath to try to understand the horror.

Along with the howling of what was presumed to be the living dead, the screams of the investigator as he watch the decapitated head continuing to sink his teeth into his flesh, his blood trickling on the ground.

Everyone remained frozen as they hear the deathly moans, the gunshots and expletives and to top it all off, but none of the sound was as scary as the one who shrieks like a dolphin.

Someone steps on the screen and the whole screen fizzled out before it dims out to black.

Everyone around the hospital is confused on what to think about what just happen. Everything just seem so unrealistic, like a scene taken out of the movie. It couldn’t be real, yet Yoona know all too well what was happening, the murders, the body that she has to examine.

Yoona didn’t wait for what’s going to happen next, she’s going to find out for herself.

“SHINDONG!!!”

Shindong stop for a split second to see one of the ghouls grabbing Jessica’s hair. It didn’t took more than a second for him to leave her.

“HIYAAAAAHHHHH!!!!”

Taeyeon jumps on the zombie’s back, pulling away his neck before he could sink his teeth on Jessica’s throat.

“TAEYEON DON’T MOVE!!!”

BANG. BANG. BANG

Taeyeon’s heartbeat stop as she saw the three bullets just inches away from her face, blasting away the zombie’s head.

Jessica shuts her eyes as she could feel something gooey splattering on her. She opens her eyes and saw black goo tainting her.

“Sorry bout the stain…” Yuri apologizes before running towards her to pull her up. “Are you two ok?”

Jessica nods shockingly but a few seconds later, got up and starts shrieking in anger and kicking the ghoul on the face. She stops when she realizes she was getting whatever hell it was all over her shoes.

Hyoyeon’s fear was starting to take over her, no matter how much she shoots, it didn’t even make them flinch. the growling starting to mess with her head, as their distance was closing in on her, arms reaching outward to grab a hold of her.

“CRAP!!! This was more fun in the videogame!”

“There’s no use” Yuri back away as more creatures just seem to appear from every side of the forest “Were going to run out of ammo soon!”

“UAAAAHHHHH”

“Shindong!!!”

Jessica was about to run and help him as the ghouls starts to surround him. She froze as she sees closer, the ghouls feeding on the entrails spilling out of Shindong’s guts.

“Good God! No!” Jessica cries out as Shindong continues to shriek as the monsters feasted on him.

“It’s no use!” Taeyeon starts to drag the frozen Jessica away.

“Taeyeon! Take them and go!!! I’ll try to stop them!”

Taeyeon nods dragging Jessica down with her as Yuri and the girls try to blast a few more before running down.

The one who made it out alive starts to made a mad dash down the hills, determine not to look back at the carnage.

Sirens and police cars start to fill the air as they drive towards the park.

“Drop your weapons!”

The girls look surprise as they see a horde of police cars and officers with guns all aimed at them and leading them was the tall, dark d0uchebag with the megaphone.

“Sarge! It’s Kwon!” Daesung sighs happily that his comrades made it out alive.

“Quiet Kang! I need you to drop your weapons!”

“Why are you doing this?”

“DROP IT!”

“You are just using an excuse to shoot Yuri to get into Yoona’s pants!”

“I SAID DROP IT!!!!”

The girls look at each other, just when they thought the nightmare has ended, this was about to happen. Strip of their guns and only defenses. They start to lift up their hands up in surrender.

“Now put your hands behind your head and kneel on the ground now!!!!”

“Sarge!” Sooyoung was about to reason out but Taecyeon wasn’t hearing it.

“NOW!!!”

Realizing that arguing would get them in much deeper trouble than they already are, Yuri finally got down on her knees, her hands behind the back of her head. Soon, everyone followed her suit.

“Handcuff them.”

“W-what did we do?” Yuri asks.

“Sorry detective… we just want to be sure that you and your companions would not do anything foolish.”

“Are you serious?! I’m Kim Taeyeon!!!” Taeyeon starts to argue as she was getting handcuffed.
“Did you encounter, got bit or come in close contact with the infected?”

“Look, we didn’t get bit but we did have an encounter with them” Yuri answers but sergeant wasn’t hearing it.

“Well, better safe than sorry.”

This was his opportunity and he is so damn grabbing it.

“Take them boys”.
