Sungjong

His mother had him when she already passed her 50. A little too late for a woman to give birth, but she managed to deliver safely. Her first and only child. A miracle she said. His parents was so happy when he arrived; big doe eyes, plump lips, sharp nose, smooth silky straight black hair and a snow white skin. A beautiful boy they say, their only son. Soon they realized the fact, that their only son is mute. A silent angel.

They live peacefully in a small village at Gwangju. A little far from the city and surrounded by a nice neighbor. His dad is a farmer of his own little-but-enough farm. Wise father who always patient and caring. And his mother is a nice housewife with a pacify smile and love to cook. Happy little family.

As an angel he is, Sungjong was never brought any worries to his parent. He always being the calm boy, obeying every words that came out from his parents mouth. Always the top of the class (his father insisted to let him study at regular school instead of special school for children with disabilities) make him become teachers favorite.

There is a time when Sungjong make his parent worries sick, it was in his fourth grade. When some of his senior from sixth grade decided to bully him because of his silence. He was cornered behind their school and his senior start to poke him continuously and , “Ya! Say something!”. “ Ba ba da da”. “ Come on, call your mom and ask her to help you”. Sungjong mouth open and close, whispering nothing. And the other kids just laugh at him, pushing his already cornered body and teasing him. Suddenly they see him convulse and his eyes getting all white at that sudden, slowly his body weaken and he fainted. He was taken to the hospital after that. L
