Because I can’t stand near him, I can’t even look at him for so long I’m afraid I can’t stop this feeling anymore

“Even if you give me enough reason, I won’t risk cancelling it. And one more thing for this mission”

“what is it sajangnim?” she don’t know but she suddenly felt nervous

“You and Agent Park will be his Bodyguard too. Be with him 24/7”

“mwo?!” she asked in a disbelieving tone

“Agent Seo. I don’t like your attitude right now. Why do you question every task that I’m giving you in this mission?”

“I’m sorry Sajangnim. But one more question”

“Go on”

“why do we need to guard him 24/7 too?”

“why can’t you just follow my order?! Do I need to remind you your position in this agency?!” he bangs his fist on the table so hard Seohyun flinched

“I-I’m sorry”

“Go now, before I do something to you. You’ve been acting weird lately Agent Seo and I don’t want this to affect your work”

As she arrived at her Condominium, she walk straight to the en suite and opened the faucet, readying the Jacuzzi.

The warm water and the scented candle ones again work its magic, calming her mind. For 5 years, she let herself walk down the memory lane, the bittersweet memory came flooding again as she let her mind explore freely to the memories she buried deep down inside her heart.

=FLASHBACK=

It was a lazy Sunday morning in his condo when she decided to visit him and cook something. She was busy chopping the vegetable for the white cream spaghetti she’s preparing when a pair of strong arms s around her waist startling her.

“Oppa! You scared me!”

“Mian sarang-ah. You know how I love this view of yours.” He kissed her shoulders

“Jung Yong Hwa! Stop bugging me or I’ll accidentally cut my finger! Aish!”

“Need some help babe?” he drew invisible circles in her tummy

“I need you to give me time to finish this”

*chuckle* “Ahrasseo Nae Sarang. I’ll just sit here and stare at you”

“no. be helpful and prepare the utensils and plate and-“

“Ahra Ahra so bossy!” he stole a kiss in her lips ones, twice, thrice and walked toward the cabinet with that goofy smile plastered on his face

“Byuntae” she whispered, smiling widely

“I heard that!”

They were still bickering when she heard her phone rang, she rushed to his to room to pick it up knowing too well who’s calling

“Let me guess, you’re in the bastard’s place again. Am I right?!” the commanding voice made her shiver

“Appa”

“Go home now”

“just a few hours please” she pleaded, tears threatening to fall

“pick one. Either you get the hell out of there or I’ll burn that place down”

“Appa. Please I just want to spend time with him”

“You know me Seo Joo Hyun. It depends on you if you’ll obey me or-“

“Ahrasseo Appa.” She answered weakly

She heave heavy sigh, controlling her emotions. He can’t see her like this again

“Same old problem?” he asked coldly

“Oppa!” she turned around and smile her megawatt smile, although It’s too painful to fake it

“Please Seo Joo Hyun, spare me that fake smile”

“I’m sorry” she bow her head, not wanting to see him looking at her like that, again.

“you need to go home now?”he asked, she nodded

*sigh* “when did we have a long quality time together!? NEVER!” he started, flinging his hands in the air, suppressing his anger to her, to her control-freak father

“hajima” she pleaded softly

“No! This time I’ll say it to you! I’m tired of this! Everytime we get to spend time together he’ll just call out-of-the-blue and voila! You’ll go home like a puppy obeying her master”

She stared at him wide-eyed. Not believing that those words came out of his own mouth

“For Goodness sake Seohyun! You’re 20 years old! 20 years old! At your age, you’re supposed to be having your own life and not let your father control you like that! I don’t want this to continue! All this controlling, it makes me sick”

“well then, lets break up” she held her head high, looking directly in his eyes

He stood there immobile, looking at her disbelievingly

“break up?! Break up?! You’re throwing away our 4 years relationship just because of this stupid argument?! You damn well know it’s not what I want! I never wanted it! Not now! Not forever!!”

“then what? What do you want?! You said you’re tired of our situation! Then it’s better if we-“

“FIGHT FOR ME!! ALL I WANT IS FOR YOU TO FIGHT FOR ME JOOHYUN!! I can tolerate all the things your father is doing to me as long as you’re here beside me. All those years that we’re together, I did nothing but to fight for you, to fight for this relationship. I can tolerate all the pain, all the hurtful words, but please, please protect me too.” His voice broke at his last sentence, tearing her heart into pieces

“Seo Sang Jun brother! I can’t wait for the right time when our agreement will happen!” Lee Han Guk said

(Seo Sang Jun is Seo Joo Hyun’s father)

Lee Han Guk is Seo Sang Jun’s business partner and his known bestfriend in the business industry. Being friends with Lee Han Guk is a risky one, but there’s also advantages when he became your friend. Seo Sang Jun knows all his secret, without Han Guk knowing it, he spies him and his illegal business which is selling drugs and human trafficking.  

“did you already discussed it with uri-seohyunnie?”

“Not yet. She’s still young you know” Sang Jun defended

“but not too young to get married. Come on! My son Lee Jun Ki, he’s been bugging me about this arrange marriage thing! He said he wants to meet her and he even agreed to the marriage without second doubt!” Han Guk excitedly said

“Ahrasseo, I’ll discuss it with Seohyun as soon as possible” he said solemnly

After his conversation with Lee Han Guk, he decided to call his private detective

“how’s it?” he started

“Lee Jun Ki killed another girl, the police just arrived at the motel where Lee Jun Ki and his victim stayed.”

He shut the phone off, making it fall to the ground and broke into pieces.

He’s been watching Lee Jun Ki’s past activities, but he can’t find any decent act on that boy his daughter is destined to marry. He killed girls as if they’re just for guilty pleasures, a toy where he can just end its life when he got bored. Fear suddenly crept in his heart.

“Yeobo-yah. Ottoke?” Sang Jun stared at the picture of his wife, praying for a miracle to happen.

When suddenly, he clutched his chest, feeling the painful sensation everytime he’s breathing. He picked up his phone and dialed Seohyun’s number but her phone is off.

They spent the day as if their heated conversation didn’t happen, she turn off her phone, making her feel the once in a lifetime freedom she truly wants and deserve.

It was past 10 pm when they decided to call it a day. He sent her home but to be welcomed by an ambulance, and a police car infront of her house.

She immediately ran through the scene, seeing her father in the stretcher, looking pale.

 “What happened?!” she said to no one, her tears started to fall uncontrollably, feeling guilty that she didn’t come home early

She felt Yonghwa’s body supporting her

“Oppa! Something happened to Appa. This is all because of me!” she hysterically said

“hush joohyun-ah. It’s not your fault. Calm down sarang-ah” he rub her back, soothing her

“what if something happens to Appa?!” she’s crying desperately, clutching his shirt, crying.

“shh. Nothing will happen. Let’s go and follow him to the hospital” he ushered her back to the car.

On their way to the hospital he keep on whispering comforting words every once in awhile, glancing at her, checking up on her condition.

She entered the ICU alone, seeing her father in that state made her weak that she can’t stand up properly. Seems like walking near his bed is the longest walk she had, clutching her father’s hand tightly, her tears began to fall

“Appa. I’m sorry. I should have followed you”

“Don’t leave me okay? We still need to find mom. You promised right? We need to find her and let’s make this family whole again. Don’t leave me Appa, I can’t make it if you leave me.”

“Appa, I promise to obey you, every word you say, I promise to obey it as long as I can. Just don’t leave me.”

“Seohyun-ah” her father’s weak voice made her looked up to him

“Appa!! Wait I’ll call the doctor!” she stood up and about to turn when her father stopped her

“Seohyun-ah. Listen to me”

“I will Appa I will” she looked at him, focusing in every word he’s saying

“when I’m gone, join them and promise me to look for your mom, find her and tell her how much I miss and love her. And also, stay away from Lee Han Guk ahrasseo? Don’t accept any help from him, when I’m gone, you need to hide, disappear in this place, go to Phoenix Agency, from there I know you’ll be safe”

“Appa I can’t understand you”

“Just promise me Seohyun-ah. Promise me, that when I’m gone you need to join them, find your mom, and after that I’ll grant you the freedom you truly deserve”

Yonghwa decided to drag her to his house and make her rest for a day. For 3 straight days she just slept for an hour, not wanting to take her eyes off her father.

He just finished showering when he saw her at the veranda, having that far away look again, he don’t know but it scares him.

“nae sarang” he back hugged her, seeing her looking far-away with that troubled look makes him want to be a mind-reader

She didn’t answered, she just let her fingers intertwined with his, still looking far-away

“it’s been 3 days and you’re still giving me that silent treatment. I’m here nae sarang, you can talk to me about your problems. I’ve been dying to know what’s bugging you these past few days you know. I’m hella worried” he hugged her tighter, feeling how perfect his body molds to hers

He heard her sigh

“Oppa” she whispered

“finally!”

“Oppa. When this ends I’ll be gone” he turned her around and looked directly into her eyes

“stop talking to me in riddles sarang-ah”

“you’ll know when the time comes Oppa. Do you believe that I love you?”

“y-yes”

“Good! Please never doubt my love ahrasseo? Whatever happens-“

“stop right there” he put his index finger in her soft pink lips, stopping the urge to kiss her senselessly

“Op-“

“No. I don’t want to hear all of this. You’re scaring me Seohyun-ah jinjja” his voice broke, she can feel his arms tighten around her

Oppa this breaks my heart too she shouted in her mind. Staring at his face, she cupped her face and leaned closer

They started kissing passionately when he pulled out

“sarang-ah don’t, I may not stop myself if this continues.”

“then don’t oppa. Don’t stop” he cupped her face and made her looked straight into his eyes

“are you sure? Are you sure that you’re giving me yourself? Your all?” his mind is in turmoil right now, he feels happy but same time it scares him, seeing how she behaves like this for the first time. It’s just that, it doesn’t feel right

“this may hurt”

“I don’t care, as long as I’m with you” she pulls him close, grinding her body to his

He can’t believe how aggressive she is that night, how she stares at him with those dreamy eyes, how she calls his name as if it’s a prayer she’s chanting, how she willingly gives herself to him without doubt in her eyes.

“I love you Sarang-ah” he whispered, after their first love making

“I love you more. I’ll love you forever. I won’t love any other man than you Sarang-ah” she answered breathlessly

“You should! Coz I’ll do the same. I won’t look at any other girl. Just you sarang-ah, just you” she smiled hearing his sweet confession, that sweet serene smile he loves the most.

That night, they held each other tight. Not wanting to be away from each other.

It was 3AM when her phone rang continuously. She woke up feeling exhausted from their non-stop lovemaking that night

“Yeoboseyo?” she answered sleepily, without looking at the caller

“Ms. Seo Joo Hyun, this call is from the hospital. I’m afraid you need to come here right now miss”

“what happened?” she bolted up from the bed hurriedly, picking her discarded clothes at the floor

“your father, he’s looking for you”

“ahrasseo I’ll be right there fast” she wore his shirt, his worn jacket and her jeans. Tying her hair in a bun and reached for the car keys when he grabbed it at the same time

“it’s too dangerous for you to drive at this hour”

“I need to go to the hospital right now. Give me the keys” she reached out for it but he didn’t give it

“wait for me, I’ll go with you” he hastily slip in his trousers, his shirt and was looking for his jacket when he saw her wearing it, he smiled at her and walked through the walk in closet to get another jacket.

While they’re on their way to the hospital, she reached for his other hand and intertwined their fingers, clutching it tightly

“I love you Jung Yong Hwa” she said

“And I love you more Seo Joo Hyun” this feeling doesn’t feel right. But he decided to ignore it first, they need to go to the hospital fast

When they arrived at the hospital, he let her ran through his father’s room and decided to talk to her father’s doctor to know about Seo Sang Jun’s condition

“Appa!”

“your promise Seohyun-ah”

“Ne Appa. I will make it happen. But please, don’t leave me”

“I love you my daughter, and I’m sorry for everything” he smiled at her, that serene smile that was absent for years since her mother was kidnapped.

“APPA!!!!!” she hugged him tight, crying her heart out

“Seo Hyun-ah” Yonghwa entered the room when he heard her screamed, his heart broke as he saw how she broke down and hugged her father as if someone will take it away from her

“APPA!!!!!!!!” her heartbreaking scream make him held her tighter.

Her phone rang, making her snap out of her reverie. She reached for her phone and looked at the caller

“Sajangnim”

“Mr. Jung received another death threat. And seems like it’s getting worse. Please report immediately”

“Ne Sajangnim. I’ll be there”
