Chinese proverbs (諺語, yànyŭ) are famous sayings taken from literature, history, and famous people like philosophers.
There are hundreds of Chinese proverbs addressing all aspects of life from education and work to personal goals and relationships.
死马当活马医 [sǐ mǎ dāng huó mǎ yī]
Treating a dead horse like an alive horse
比喻明知事情已经无可求药,仍然抱万一希望,积极挽救。也泛指做最后的尝试。
Even when you can't be able to salvage the whole situation, you still held onto that last hope and tried everything you could do.
Meaning: To make the very last effort to salvage a situation that can't be reversed.
I added the Mandarin meaning there as well for Chinese readers out there and also, for my own reference as well :p
