It was only on the second week of preparation I found out that I was the youngest member.
Being at the young age of 17, I had to listen to my eonni-deul.
Sometimes they get moody and I need to tolerate them.
Then it was only after a month of vigorous training then I found out
that our six-member girl group is supposed to be a sister group to exo.
Sister group is just to make things sound nice,
SM actually ships artists.
Like how snsd is always placed with suju and shinee is always with fx.
And for each member here in my girl group, they'll be paired with two exo member,
one from k and one from m. Of
course I wish I'll get paired with Baekhyun oppa.
Have I talked about Baekhyun and I getting closer?
As we prepare for our debut next year,
exo was busy preparing their comeback.
And to relieve stress, Baekhyun will go to the music room every night to play the piano and relax.
Then, since I'm lagging behind everyone else,
I'll usually stay behind about and hour more to train on my own.
For both vocal and dance.
Baekhyun will volunteer to play music for me to sing to or dance too.
I even learnt how to sing exo's "What is Love?" and Baekhyun will sing it with me.
After an hour of hard work, I'll sit down somewhere in the room and
chat with Baekhyun for a while before ending my day.
"_____, have you ever watched any of exo's interview?"
Baekhyun asked me one day when I was packing up.
"Why?"
"Just curious."
"Yea, I did. I watched exo k's interview in Taiwan.
The one where the host kept making fun of your eyes.
Hahaha. But he likes you a lot right?"
"Ah, that. Yea. He likes to direct things at me more than the other members.
What about our Thailand interview?"
Thailand? I don't recall doing so.
"Nope."
"Oh. It's okay then."
"Why?"
"Nothing. Anyways, here's my number,"
he said as he wrote on the whiteboard at the side of the room,
"call me if you need a listening ear. Like, training is too tough or something."
"I thought no one in exo k have handphones?"
"Don't trust everything you see on tv or online."
"Alright." I said and took his number down in my phone.
"I better get going now, bye."
"Bye."
Then on the same day,
when I was on my way back to my dorm,
I saw our manager talking to Miri and Jinchan.
When she (the manager) spotted me, she immediately to me and asked me,
"what about you? What are you afraid of?"
"Me? I'm afraid of..."
I hesitated and looked at Jinchan and Miri. I was afraid that they'll laugh at me.
"Butterflies."
"Serious?"
Jinchan said and couldn't help but to laugh.
Miri elbowed her and Jinchan bit her lips.
But she couldn't hold it for long and started laughing again.
I felt really embarrassed.
I quickly laughed along and said,
"and moths. Moths. Yea."
Manager eonni stared at me and said,
"really? Butterflies?"
I could see that Jinchan was about to laugh.
So I added, "and moths."
But Jinchan laughed anyways.
She came over to me and pat me as she said,
"butterflies are so harmless! Unlike spiders."
Manager eonni then said,
"it's alright, we all have something we're afraid of,
like me, I'm scared of dogs."
I gave a smile and was about to leave for the dorm when manager eonni called for me again.
"Have you heard of your group name?"
Our group name?
"No! What is it?"
Gosh I'm so excited.
"Candy shop," Miri said,
"and we go for the cute concept."
"Like sonyeoshidae sunbaes?"
Manager eonni shook her head and said,
"they started out cute but their concept seemed to have changed.
It's alright, just go with what SM wants."
I nodded and quickly left before I get stopped for anything else that day.
I seriously needed some time to rest.
