CHAPTER 7

My Angel

Taking the glass of water from Kiseop, I gulped it down. No, not that I didn’t drink any water for the whole day, it’s only ‘cause my throat was burning and I couldn’t even swallow saliva without feeling any pain.

I smiled and said a “thanks” and passed the glass back to Kiseop. He’s nice, helping a sick classmate he barely knows.

Yeah…He barely knows me…But why did I have that feeling deep down inside that he actually knows me? Why?

I shaked that feeling away, I’ve never met him before, everything that happened that night was all an hallucination. I must have been too tired and missed eomma too much that I actually hallucinated.

Suddenly, I felt sleepy…I struggled to keep my eyelids open. I can’t sleep now…I need to go to class…Urghh…Imagine what’s going to happen if they phone appa and tell him that I fainted in the middle of class and went to the sickbay.

And then it hit me, appa. How great. They must have called him already. He’s already busy enough, now he has to worry about me.

I needed to get up…But I feel…So sleepy…And my body wasn’t listening to my brain. It refuses to get up…Oh never mind. I could just sleep…Until appa or someone else comes to bring me home…Just until then, I shall sleep for a while…

And I out.

When I woke up, I wasn’t in the sickbay anymore. I squinted my eyes, and took in my surroundings. I was in my bedroom. How did I get here? Oh right, they called appa.

I sat up and went out of my bedroom, downstairs, just right across the end of the staircase, I saw Kiseop, he was sitting on the sofa, sipping on some tea. Wait, Kiseop? What was he doing here? I tried to remember what happened before I ended up in my bedroom.

I fainted in class, got sent to the sickbay, regain consciousness, realized Kiseop was beside me, went back to sleep again, and ended up, here, at home.

Wait, I should have talked to Kiseop. What did I say to him? Urghh…What exactly did we talked about? I tried hard to remember, running through the memories over and over again. Why couldn’t I remember? What happened? Why can’t I remember? What’s wrong with me?

I began to feel weak, and I grabbed the railings of the stairs, trying to steady myself.

I knew we talked about something, but I just can’t remember. Deep inside me, I know something happened. Just…what? Why is it that it seems like me memories of what happened just now were wiped out?

My knees gave way and I fell to the floor, rolling down the staircase. That’s when I suddenly stopped rolling. I felt like I was suspended in mid air. And then, I was gently set down on the coldness of the floor below the staircase. My mind was hurting, I couldn’t think. And my body felt bruised, I thought I could smell the blood from my head.

Wait. Blood? Oh no…

I began to whimper due to the pain.

“It hurts…My head…Help…” I said faintly.

“You injured your head, hold on, I’ll bring you to your room.” A soft and velvety voice said into me ear, and I began to feel safe as that person picked me up in his arms.

I woke up light headed on the bed, stretching myself and letting out a big yawn. I felt good, refreshed.

Smiling, I got out of bed, and walked towards my door.

“Looks like you’re awake. Feeling any better?”

I was frozen in mid-steps for a moment. Turning around, I saw Kiseop leaning on my wardrobe on the other side of my bedroom.

When did he appear? Was he in my bedroom the entire time?

“Why are you here? You didn’t do anything to me when I was asleep right?”

“Well, what does it seem like? I helped you to your bed when you roll down the staircase and lost consciousness halfway. And you’re accusing me of you?” He laughed to himself, the cold kind of laugh.

And then I remembered, I woke up after sleeping in the sick bay and found myself in my room, and found Kiseop sitting on my sofa. While I was trying to remember what happened before, I felt weak and roll down the staircase, was suspended in mid air and was carried up by Kiseop.

“Okay…Thanks then. But do you mind explaining to me why I was suspended in mid air when I fell?” I asked with just enough amount of politeness so he would actually tell me.

“You hurt your head remember? That’s probably why you hallucinated that you were suspended in mid air.” He looked annoyed.

“Fine. Thanks for telling me, Kiseop, I feel better now, so you can leave.”

“Bye.”

And with that, he turned and walked out of the room.

When I was certain I heard the front doors close, I immediately ran to the window overlooking the front yard.
