That night, I toss and turn in bed. Unable to sleep, I walked to the balcony. Gazing at the stars, I can’t help but think about my mother.

Eomma, where are you? You’ve been gone for a year now. No matter how much time and effort that me, appa, and the whole company put in, we just can’t find you. Why? Is what appa said true? Are you really hiding from us? Where exactly are you, mum?

Suddenly, a flash of bright light blinded me. In the balcony opposite, I saw a guy. No wait, except he wasn’t really a “guy”.  That “thing” had… Wings…

What am I seeing? Am I hallucinating? It’s 3 am in the morning but, no way! Unless…Unless he’s a… a… a…

A human bird?

“Not a human bird. But an angel, my lovely” That “thing” softly laughed.

What was that? Did he just read my thoughts?

It can’t be. Angels don’t exist. And neither do human birds.

Overwhelmed, I felt the hardness of the balcony floor knock everything out of my head. And soon, all I saw was pitched black.

The voice was faint, but it was not totally unintelligible and it came with a sinister laugh:  “I finally found you, your mother’s dearest daughter”
