DongGyu's side of the story 1/2

Give Your Heart A Break

“Sunggyu-hyung!!” a loud voice boomed along Seoul University’s hallway. “Kim Sunggyu!! Where are you?!”

The loud mouthed person then proceeded to tear up the halls and open every classroom looking for the person who owns the name of Kim Sunggyu.

“Sunggyu!!” that person calls again. “I’ve got red ginseng flavored treats for you!”

“Am I supposed to be happy about that fact Dongwoo?” a voice from behind suddenly said making the loud mouthed Dongwoo’s lips smile as he turned to see Sunggyu.

“Sunggyu-hyung,” Dongwoo said happily. “I was looking all over for you.”

“I heard,” Sunggyu deadpanned. “So why are you looking for me?”

“I… uh…” Dongwoo suddenly started unsurely while looking around. “I lost my copy of the song line up for graduation, so I was wondering if I could get a copy from you?”

“The song line up?” Sunggyu said a bit taken back. “You came all the way here for a copy?”

Dongwoo just nodded with a sheepish smile.

“You’re weird Dongwoo,” Sunggyu sighed as he grabbed his bag to get his copy. “You could have gotten a copy from Sungjong whose your classmate you know.”

“Yours is much neater than theirs,” Dongwoo explained but he knew it was a lie since Sungjong’s a neat freak when it comes to his notes and papers.

“Sure,” Sunggyu chuckled as he handed him a copy of the song line up.

“Thanks hyung,” Dongwoo smiled, to be honest borrowing a copy was just an excuse to see his favorite hyung. “So… how’s the music club doing?”

“You should know since you’re my vice president,” laughed Sunggyu.

“Oh yeah,” Dongwoo laughed in embarrassment and happiness at being called his vice president, it sent a tingly feeling in his hear-

“Sunggyu-oppa,” a woman interrupted their little moment. “Can I talk to you oppa?”

The look on Sunggyu’s eyes show that he obviously doesn’t want to go but what can he do? His image around the university is of a perfect gentleman with an angelic voice so coldly turning down a small request might affect people’s image on him and he can’t risk that with college graduation in a few months and job recruiters would be asking about him.

“Sure,” Sunggyu smiled that wonderful eye smile of his that made the girl’s heart flutter. “See you later at club Woo.”

“Sure thing hyung,” Dongwoo replied as he watched Sunggyu walk off with the girl without knowing the fact that his smile has the same effect on him as to the girl.

As soon as the two of them left did Dongwoo’s smile begin to falter and he began to feel anxious. Kim Sunggyu has this effect on him, he can make the younger male extremely happy then disappointed then anxious then back to happy in a matter of seconds, he knows exactly what Sunggyu and that girl are about to talk about judging from the woman’s shy gaze and blushing cheeks – he knows it because he’s been in that state more than once because of the hamster looking male but he’s better at hiding it. Dongwoo stays calm after a few minutes of panicking though cause then he is reminded that Sunggyu never accepts any confessions no matter whose it from, the reason? Dongwoo doesn’t know but he’s glad about that fact but he also secretly wishes that on a certain day Sunggyu will accept a confession to him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The soothing music from the piano in the club room could calm anyone’s agitated heart but unfortunately for Dongwoo even the lulling sound from the beautiful instrument couldn’t calm down his fast pacing heart. He knows he just reminded himself that Sunggyu never accepts any confessions but then again Sunggyu is also never late for club practice so this just makes Dongwoo more anxious and nervous as he thinks that maybe just maybe the elder male did accept the confession and just thinking about that possibility hurts.
“I call this piece,” the pianist started catching Dongwoo’s attention. “The Lonely Dinosaur.”
“That’s not funny Sungjong-ah,” Dongwoo whined at the younger who started to play a brooding piano piece and was the only other person in the room, with Sunggyu being more than 30 minutes late the other members just decided to call it a day cause without the president they didn’t really know what to do.
“Then stop spreading your gloom hyung,” Sungjong countered as he abruptly finished his playing to face his hyung. “It’s affecting the pieces I wanna practice.”
“Sorry,” Dongwoo replied. “It’s just that Sunggyu’s never this late so what if something happened to him?”
“Gyu-hyung’s old enough to take care of himself you know,” Sungjong stated. “So stop worrying about him so much hyung. You’ll look older than him if you keep that up.”
Dongwoo had to laugh at his dongsaeng’s last comment, trust Sungjong to make fun of his hyung’s age whether he’s there or not.
“Now that’s the Dongwoo I know,” smiled Sungjong. “Now I better get going or I’ll be late for my shift at the cafe.”
“Oh !” Dongwoo suddenly cried. “I forgot about my date with Hoya today!”
“Oooh~” Sungjong cooed teasingly. “You got a date with Hoya-hyung?”
“It’s not like that Jongie,” Dongwoo laughed. “I just promised to help him with his choreography for his audition at that place that’s looking for a dance teacher.”
“He always did say he wanted to be a dance instructor,” mused Sungjong with a smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow then hyung!”
“Take care Jongie,” Dongwoo replied as the younger one walked towards the door. “Don’t talk to strangers and make sure you go straight home right after work!”
“Yes umma~” called Sungjong as his smiling face was shut by the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Loud hip hop music boomed throughout one of the practice rooms in one of Seoul’s many dance studio rentals. A sweaty Lee Hoya practices his self made choreography for the nth time, perfecting every movement but who was he to complain if it meant bringing Dongwoo to his side and watch him work hard.

“I think that’s enough for today Hoya,” Dongwoo advised the dancer.

“Just one more time hyung and I’ll be done for the day,” Hoya replied being the perfectionist that he is.

“Yah!” Dongwoo jokingly scolded as he unplugged the radio. “Are you disobeying your hyung Hoaegi?”

“Yuck,” Hoya sounded as he stuck his tongue out. “Don’t call me that hyung.”

“Oh please,” Dongwoo rolled his eyes. “You like it when I call you Hoaegi~”

“NO I don’t,” Hoya emphasized this big fat lie just to convince his hyung.

He then sat next to Dongwoo as he fixed his things it was at that moment that he found something wrong with the older boy. Without the loud hip hop music Hoya found the practice room very silent except for the rustling of his things, this silence should be usually overtaken by Dongwoo’s unending chatter and loud but infectious laugh so why isn’t he hearing that right now?

“Is something wrong Dongwoo?” Hoya asked.

“It’s Sunggyu-hyung,” Dongwoo started silently.

‘Of course,’ Hoya thought. ‘A day just couldn’t pass without you mentioning him huh?’

“So what the did he do?” Hoya said. “I swear if he hurt you in any way possible I will-”

“He didn’t hurt me Hoya,” Dongwoo said quickly. “It’s just that he didn’t come to club earlier.”

“So?” Hoya replied. “Maybe he’s just got other things to do.”

“But there was this girl that confessed to him earlier and I think that’s the reason why he missed club and-”

“Hyung!” Hoya said as he placed his hands on the other’s shoulder stopping Dongwoo’s tirade. “You talk as if Sunggyu having a relationship is a bad thing, shouldn’t you be happy for him?”

“Well… I… uh…”  Dongwoo is at a loss of words.

“Besides,” Hoya added. “It’s not like you have a hold on him or something so don’t fret about the little things he does hyung.”

Stab. Bang. Right on the mark. It’s not like you have a hold on him. Why does Hoya have to be so straight forward? He could have said it in a much nicer way or he could have not said it at all. Aish, who is he kidding, Hoya’s just telling the truth but then again it’s not like he wanted to hear it either.

“I know,” was all Dongwoo could say to the other before they headed home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dongwoo walked home with a heavy heart and a million things running around his mind while walking home. Hoya’s words have taken a great toll on Dongwoo and the younger didn’t even mean it. The truth in his words was painful to accept but what can he do when it’s true? He absolutely had no hold over Sunggyu so being depressed about just thinking of him in a relationship is stupid and unneeded but again what can he do when he just loves the elder man so much?
“Aish!!” Dongwoo exclaimed as he ruffled his hair earning him looks from random people he then felt embarrassed with himself as he decided to just rush home if not for the newly opened pet store that caught his eye.
“You!” Dongwoo cried as his face practically kissed the window when he stared at a certain pet at the display window. “You look just like Sunggyu-hyung.”
The animal that Dongwoo was referring too was a cute brown fluffy hamster with itty bitty black eyes. People always said that Sunggyu looks like a hamster and it was quiet obvious why because the small eyed male really does look like one but this is the first time that Dongwoo is seeing a hamster that looks exactly like Sunggyu even the color of their hair is the same.
“AIgoo~” Dongwoo cooed. “You’re just so fluffy and cute that I would love to take you home if only I had money.”
“It’s not that cute to me,” someone suddenly said behind him and the dinosaur look alike was ready to tell the person off if it wasn’t for the fact that the person is Kim Sunggyu himself.
“Hyung!” Dongwoo exclaimed a bit taken a back. “How long have you been there??”
“Long enough,” Sunggyu smiled as he moved closer then crouched down until he was at eye level with the hamster that just stared back. “Does it really look like me?”
Instead of hearing an answer from the other all Sunggyu heard was a stifled laughter as Dongwoo tried really hard not to laugh at the scene in front of him so as to not offend his hyung but as Sunggyu and the hamster turned to look at him in perfect synchronization Dongwoo couldn’t help it anymore and let out a hearty laugh at the middle of the street.
“Yah,” Sunggyu scolded jokingly. “Are you laughing at your hyung?”
“You and that hamster,” Dongwoo managed to say in between laughs as he leaned on the pet shop’s glass for support. “So cute.”
“Let’s just go somewhere else for you to calm down,” Sunggyu suddenly said as he locked hands with the other to pull him somewhere away from people’s stares and to prevent Dongwoo from seeing the pink tint on his cheeks as he mumbled. “Kim Sunggyu is a cool guy, not cute.”
The two of them then started to walk away from the shop with no exact destination in mind with their hands still locked with each other and to be honest both of them didn’t mind it making Dongwoo super happy that the elder didn’t pull away.
The warmth of each other’s hands sent a tingly feeling to their stomach as their hearts beat faster Sunggyu terribly confused with this feeling. Surely this feeling isn’t love Sunggyu thinks because he’s pretty sure he promised himself to avoid and never interact with that ridiculous feeling ever since that day.
“Sunggyu-hyung,” Dongwoo called the other as they walked but he didn’t respond. “Sunggyu.”
Again, no response from the elder who had his face all scrunched up in deep thought which will be so amusing to look at for Dongwoo if it wasn’t also the reason of him being ignored.
“Kim Sunggyu!” cried Dongwoo as he abruptly stopped from walking breaking their locked hands in the process while catching the other’s attention.
“What?” Sunggyu asked. “Oh, was I holding your hand for too long? Sorry about that.”
“Wha?” Dongwoo asked with wide eyes startled at the other’s apology. He then frantically held hands again with the elder to avoid him thinking that he disliked the actions. “That’s fine hyung see? You can hold my hand for the whole day everyday and I won’t mind it.”
“Arasso,” Sunggyu smiled as he squeezed the other’s hand lightly before letting go. “Then why were you practically screaming my name?”
“I was asking why you weren’t at club earlier?”
“Oh yeah,” Sunggyu replied as he remembered why he approached the younger one in the first place. “I’m really sorry about that by the way, I should have at least texted you but the girl…” Sunggyu sighed as he remembered what happened earlier.
“What girl?” Dongwoo asked although he already knew. “The one that confessed to you?”
“I swear I turned her down nicely,” Sunggyu said exasperatedly. “But then she started crying saying how I was heartless and all! She even cursed me and said I would never find love and ! Whoever said I was looking for love!! To be honest I’m avoiding it at all cost.”
“Woah hyung chill!” Dongwoo said as he looked for a place to make the other sit down, luckily they were near a park so he made him sit on an empty bench.
“Sorry for lashing out on you Dongwoo-ah,” Sunggyu sighed as he sat down.
“Its fine hyung,” Dongwoo smiled. “If it makes you feel any better then its fine.”
“You’re really sweet Dongwoo,” Sunggyu smiled. “Whoever you’d love in the future would be really lucky.”
‘Then you can win the lottery Sunggyu,’ Dongwoo thought as he looked at the other but there was something else on his mind actually it’s been there for a while now. “Gyu, if you don’t mind me asking but why do you always reject confessions to you?”
“I,” Sunggyu started a bit unsurely. “Don’t have time for it. Especially now with graduation and everything, besides, why do I need to have a girlfriend or boyfriend anyway? It’s one more troublesome thing to think about.”
Dongwoo kept silent as his hyung talked, he couldn’t help but notice how Sunggyu winced at his question and how he looked at anywhere but him when he answered fully it was like he wasn’t telling the truth, it was like he was trying to convince himself of his answer instead of Dongwoo.
“You know what Gyu?” Dongwoo started catching the other’s attention. “You’re too stressed out, I mean look at you! Your eyes are getting smaller because of your eye bags and are those wrinkles on your forehead?”
“Yah!” Sunggyu cried as he covered his forehead with his hand.
“Which is why tomorrow we are going out,” Dongwoo suddenly declared with a huge smile. “I’m gonna relieve you from all that pent up frustration inside.” ‘And show you how wrong it is for you to avoid love.’
“What? Dongwoo you don’t need to-”
“So meet me here at this spot at around 11 tomorrow hyung,” Dongwoo said cutting off Sunggyu with a smile before running off for home to avoid letting Sunggyu see his red face cause he just practically asked him out.
“D-Dongwoo!!” Sunggyu cried but the younger male didn’t even look back. He just sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, maybe he is just stressed a day out wouldn’t really hurt anyone he then stands up to go home with a smile on his face as he looks forward to tomorrow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Where is that brat??” Sunggyu asked himself as he looked at his watch it was only 10:52 so he shouldn’t really be irritated cause they did say they would meet at 11 but who the hell comes at the exact time?

Sunggyu thinks that but to be honest he’s glad the other isn’t here yet cause he thought he was the who’s late because he spent a little too much time in fixing how he looks. It’s really stupid now that he thinks about it cause its only a day out with a friend so he shouldn’t really be nervous at how he looks like right? And yet his fixing his fringe right now just in case it got crooked from waiting.

“Sunggyu-hyung!” he finally heard Dongwoo’s voice and turned to see the dinosaur looking male rush to him before stopping right in front of him huffing and puffing. “Were you waiting long?”

“Nah,” Sunggyu lied. “I just got here too.”

“Well then hyung, let’s get this day started then,” Dongwoo smiled while reminding himself that this is not an official date.

“So where do we go first?” Sunggyu asked as they started walking with Dongwoo in the lead.

“First we’re gonna eat,” Dongwoo smiled as he looked at him. “I’m gonna make you eat something that is not for old people.”

“Yah!” Sunggyu cried. “What are you implying Jang Dongwoo??”

“I’m saying that I’m gonna treat somewhere they don’t sell anything in red ginseng flavor,” Dongwoo replied honestly earning a smack on the head by the elder.

“Red ginseng is healthy for you you know,” Sunggyu countered albeit a bit embarrassed.

“But it doesn’t taste that good,” Dongwoo said as he stuck his tongue out then pulled Sunggyu into a corner before stopping abruptly. “Which is why we’re gonna eat here.”

The two of them were now in front a quaint little shop with a heavenly aroma wafting around bringing customers in even though the place is quite hidden. The inside of the shop was like from a fairytale with its homey cottage theme complete with a smiling grandmother by the counter. There were only a few people inside giving of a peaceful feeling with their smiling faces and hushed conversations.

“Table for two my dears?” the grandmother asked as the two of them nodded. “Follow me.”

The two of them were led to a seat near a bookshelf and they were told that they could read the books if they like just please take care of them which they immediately agreed. The nice lady gave them two menus before saying she’ll come back to take their orders.

“How’d you find this place?” Sunggyu asked when the lady left.

“I wanted to take you somewhere special so I did a little research,” Dongwoo replied sheepishly. “Don’t you like the place?”

“I love it actually,” Sunggyu smiled as he looked around making Dongwoo smile too he then looked to his menu. “And the food looks great.”

When the two of them decided on what to eat the nice old lady came back to them as if on cue.Sunggyu ordered seafood pesto with Dongwoo having their creamy carbonara special. When the finished their happy lunch filled with delicious food and sharing stories Sunggyu was ready to pay and leave if Dongwoo didn’t stop him.

“We can’t leave without having desert hyung,” Dongwoo smiled and before Sunggyu can say something like he isn’t one for sweets Dongwoo had already ordered two slices of the shop’s chocolate caramel cake.

“Look Dongwoo,” Sunggyu started as he looked at the cake that the lady brought them. “This cake looks delicious and all but I honestly didn’t bring that much money for today.”

“Whoever said you were paying?” Dongwoo asked as he was already on his third bite of the cake. “I told I’ll let you have fun today hyung and paying for things isn’t fun so for the whole day today I’m paying.”

“Are you sure?” Sunggyu asked as he stared at the delicious cake which his mind is telling him to eat but his wallet is telling him not to eat but apparently Dongwoo took his mind’s side as he dug his fork onto his cake then pointed it towards him.

“Eat,” Dongwoo ordered with a playful smile.

And Sunggyu just did that. As soon as the chocolate cake touched his tongue Sunggyu fell into a total bliss. The chocolate was a bit dark complimenting the sweet caramel filling at the center and the chocolate icing which just melted in his mouth. He just had to have a second bite to know he wasn’t just imagining things and the second one confirmed that the cake was just that heavenly. He ate bite after bite of the cake but immediately stopped when he heard a soft chuckle.

“What’s so funny?” Sunggyu asked while looking at Dongwoo who was chuckling.

“Nothing hyung,” Dongwoo smiled as he looked at Sunggyu who looked like an adorable hamster while eating making the elder self conscious.

“What?” Sunggyu asked. “Is there something on my face?”

“Actually, yeah, near your lips,” Dongwoo explained then Sunggyu tried to wipe the chocolate stain off but he missed. “Here, let me.”

As Dongwoo brushed the chocolate away from Sunggyu’s lips he couldn’t help but linger his fingers for a slight moment atop the others lips before pulling away abruptly before he does anything stupid that he might regret.

Sunggyu on the other hand has his poker face on as he thanked the other but his mind is going into a complete frenzy at the small action, why would Dongwoo do that?? No, he was just being nice he didn’t mean anything by that he was just preventing Sunggyu from walking along the streets of Seoul with a dirty face. Sunggyu think he is over thinking this small action and it’s affecting his heart cause it is clearly beating harder and faster.

“So uh…” Sunggyu started. “Where next?”

“Next we’ll going to a dance off at the park,” Dongwoo said as he asked for the bill. “You’ve been playing to many gloomy music that even Jongie’s complaining.”

“Sungjongie’s always complaining,” Sunggyu laughed.

“Well true,” Dongwoo shrugged as he paid the nice lady for their fine. “But lively music will be good for you either way, so let’s go or we’ll be late.”

Chapter 13: The point is, i never knew about wooya and donggyu couple until i read this story... (I think i've been blinded by MyungJong and getting all numb to another or surround. I mean, no one can blame me to ship MyungJong rite? Since they are so real and cute and absolute and perfect and- OK I SHOULD STOP!)

Where are we? Owh rite wooya and donggyu, well i guess why not? It can't be hurt to pairing hamster and dinosour rite? Rite? Ummmh... 0_o

And i like the idea of putting hoya on top of woohyun, i mean- eeerrr... (Gosh, i don't mean to turn this comment into a dirty bed scene, i swear, but i can't put up any words that not associated with toughts, so i hope u understand what i try to say here )

One more thing, i like the cute gif that u put on the top of every series... Thanks author-nim... 니가 좋다... :*

Chapter 13: Okay, I'm iffy on this chapter. On one hand, I don't like that MyungJong is built entirely around being drunk. Myungsoo is drunk when they meet. Sungjong is drunk when he confesses (part 1).

On the other hand, it's so freaking fluffy with all the MyungJong moments, and the MyungGrease (oh gods, I invented a word that can kill people) and THE FREAKING DAEJAE OH MY LORD.

So yeah. That one bit of the plot bothers me, but the writing and the fluff just shoots "One Shot" through my heart xD

Chapter 8: (1) I'm so freaking excited for MyungJong, you don't even know.

(2) WOOYAAAAAAAAAAAA. The undeniable owner of my heart because only WooYa can have this much freaking grease and get away with it because they both be so buff and smexy.

Oh and you're an amazing writer and I want to have with this story. Okay, bye.

No seriously, this is an amazing story, and of course you write M twenty four seven which is why they get auto marked as M and mmhhmmm smexy.

So yeah. I love the plot, love the characterization, love the flow. Can't get over your works ^^

Chapter 2: OKAY, FIRST OFF, YOU MADE SUNGJONGIE FAR TOO LOVEABLE IN THIS.

But yeah. I freaking loved this. I do not, by any means ship DongGyu. But Hoya WILL let Dongwoo go where he's happiest. And no one CAN resist Dongwoo. And Sungjong IS everyone's favorite dongsaeng...

anyways. point is. I missed your writing. LOVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEE
