As she gets near them, she can’t help but notice the indescribable chemistry between the two. They are indeed look cute together. But she continued to deny it to herself. There shouldn’t be them. Yong Hwa is meant for her not for Shin Hye. She shook her head in denial as she cleared to call Yong Hwa.

“Yong Hwa-oppa!”

The two stopped being in their own world as they were disrupted by a voice.

“Oh, Seo Hyun-unnie,” Shin Hye smiled at her but she didn’t notice as her eyes is focused only to Yong Hwa eyeing him mischieviously.

“It’s been a week that you’ve been gone and you didn’t even bother to give me a call. What’s the matter?”

She tried to get near him to link her arms with his but he refused by avoiding her. His action took her by surprise. She couldn’t believe that he has the guts to do that especially infront of Shin Hye.

“Stop that. We both know that there’s nothing going on between us.”

She was completely embarrassed when he heard him say those words with Shin Hye around. She tried to regain her composure by trying to blackmail him with his secret that she thought she only knew.

“Wae? So you really want to get busted Yong Hwa, huh?”

“I don’t mind. Go ahead tell her. I don’t care.”

Her eyes widened by his sudden dare. But that did not stop her to spill the beans. Then, she turned to Shin Hye.

“Shin Hye-ya! Do you know that Yong Hwa here has been secretly liking you all this time?”

“I know.”

She was more surprised with Shin Hye’s answer. It’s as if these two have planned of annoying her today. But she wouldn’t just let them ruin her day. She won’t lose this battle. So, she smiled evilly and spoke words that she thought would embarrass Shin Hye and make her avoid Yong Hwa.

“Oh! So the fact that you didn’t avoid him even if you knew that fact means that you like him too. Am I right? Did Yong Hwa knew that already?”

“We’re friends. No, bestfriends actually. We’ve been bestfriends for such a long time already. I don’t think we would let that single confession alone ruin everything that we had nurtured in our friendship. Our friendship is strong enough that nothing or even no one can even get in between us to take this friendship away from us.”

“Really? So you’re in love with your bestfriend then?”

“I don’t think it’s good meddling with other people’s business. Whether I’m in love with my bestfriend or not is none of your business. Yong Hwa and I have a talk about it already and I think we have agreed that it’s something that we can settle between us. I’m sorry, Unnie. I don’t mean to be rude, but Yong Hwa is still my bestfriend. So no matter what I’ll still stand beside him.”

She didn’t expect that this confrontation would turn out to be against her side. She was really fuming mad with Shin Hye’s answers. She was about to slap her when she heard Yong Hwa speak.

“You hear her right? So I guess that would stop you from bothering me from now on.”

Seo Hyun gave him a glare, stomped her feet as if putting on some tantrums then turned around and walk away.

Yong Hwa felt relieved. He knew for sure that Seo Hyun would stop not just bothering them but she’d also stop blackmailing him. He smiled at his thoughts and turned to Shin Hye.

“What was that? You’re daebak! I didn’t know you’re good at putting up a word fight.”

“Huh! I guess you owe me one!” She smirked then said “Kaja or we’ll be late!”

Yong Hwa couldn’t help but grin with what he just witnessed. He couldn’t help but agree to the fact that after all they are still bestfriends. She hadn’t changed a bit. She was still the same Shin Hye he knew all this time. Though he seems to be overly protective to her, she also knew how to protect him as well.

“You know what? You just give me more and more reasons to love you more and more each day!”

“Ya! Stop that!” She hit him. Although, she knew that with his confession he would just be more comfortable expressing his feelings to her, she's still a bit uncomfortable with it.

“Waeyo? I’m just stating a fact.”

“Ya! Stop teasing me! I don’t buy it. Better go to your class now. See you later!” She stuck her tongue to him.

“You’re so cute!” He lightly pinched her cheeks then continued, “Alright! I’ll go ahead. Don’t leave without me later, arasso?”

“Ya! Stop it! Ara! Ara! Go now!”

“See you later!”

He went to his class with a big smile plastered in his face. He seemed to be in a very good mood today with the thought that he no longer has nothing to hide to Shin Hye. It made him even happier that he can openly and comfortably tell his feelings anytime to Shin Hye. And he vowed to that every single day until she gave him her sweetest ‘yes’ to finally be his girl.

Shin Hye, on the other hand, could not help but feel giddy over Yong Hwa’s over sweetness to her. She felt that she would just going to melt anytime with all his words and gestures. She couldn’t believe that her bestfriend had this sweet side of him. Well, she’s been used to Yong Hwa’s actions even before. She always thought that he was just being a good friend to her with all those actions. But this time, it’s different. He added another level of sweetness towards her that she can’t help but feel giddy over it. Yet, she’s still unsure whether to allow their friendship go on to the next level or they just stay the way they are.

Time passed by easily. Their classes were finally over. When Shin Hye came out of her class, she couldn’t believe Yong Hwa was already outside waiting for her.

“Did you even attend your classes?”

Yong Hwa was startled upon hearing Shin Hye’s voice.

“Of course! It just happened that our teacher ended the class earlier than usual.” While answering her, he’s already taking the books on Shin Hye’s arms.

“If that’s what you say. Kaja!”

“Ya! Don’t tell me you don’t believe me?”

“I didn’t say that.” She smiled at him and walked ahead of him.

“Ya! Wait for me!”

It’s as if it’s a habit, this has been their routine for a month now. Yong Hwa would go to Shin Hye’s house in the morning and they would go to school together. And after class, if Yong Hwa was not waiting outside Shin Hye’s class, she would just wait for him at the bench near the school’s exit so they could walk home together.

One time while they were heading home, Shin Hye put on a serious conversation.

“Are you sure you’re going to do this thing everyday?”

“Mwo?”

Yong Hwa seemed lost at her question. He did not know what she was talking about.

“I mean this. You going at our house in the morning for us to go to school together and walking home together after class. Aren’t you tired of doing almost the same routine everyday?”

It’s not that she didn’t like it. In fact, she really liked having to see her bestfriend doing all these for her but at the same time she was curious.

“Waeyo? Are you saying that you don’t like doing it anymore?”

“Aniyo! It’s not like that. I’m just…”

“Then I don’t think we have a problem. I’m happy doing this Shin Hye. I’m happy being beside you every single time.”

Shin Hye was touched by his words. It was just another confirmation that he really loved her. Somehow, she felt guilty that she has not given him her answer yet. He has been a very understanding bestfriend as he never asked her to be his girl the night he confessed. Instead, he gave her all the time she needed to think and consider everything carefully. Now, it’s already been a month and he’s still patiently waiting for her answer.

She smiled at him and he smiled back before they continue walking home.
