“Bea, this is Abigail Greenly. Abby, this is Bea Evans.” He paused. “She just transferred here. I am her guardian.” He said, giving her a look I didn’t understand.

“Oh I see.” She leaned in my direction. “May I see your eyes?”

I had a sudden sense of déjà vu, what’s so special about my eyes? I glanced at Taemin and he nodded his head in approval. I gave Abigail a small nod. Both of her hands shot up at once and grabbed either side of my face. I yelped in surprise and mentally jumped ten meters into the air. Gawd! Her hands are ice cold!  Colder than Taemin’s!

Her eyes bore into mine like she was trying to see into my soul.  She stared and stared and I didn’t move. Like with Taemin in the elevator, it felt like she stopped breathing, but she didn’t loosen the hold she had on my face. It was like staring at a statue, a beautiful, dangerous, statue. My instinct to run pulled at me, but something in me wouldn’t let it out. I stood up slowly, we were the same height and our eyes leveled.

Everything disappeared around us. We’re the only two people here. People. It sounds so…wrong. The word ‘person’ just doesn’t seem to fit. What are we called? What are we? Fire. Red eyes burned mine.
