The Stars Go Waltzing Out in Blue and Red
Nemesis
Rosé had been worried that detention would ruin her life, but she had successfully served her sentence and now life had completely and catastrophically returned to the hunky-dory way it was before. Everything was perfect again and Rosé was miserable.
Rosé missed Jennie. They still had gym together but they didn’t really get to talk like they did in detention. They would wave or nod at each other, sometimes get close enough to ask “sup?” but that was the extent of their interactions, with the exception of Rosé ogling Jennie in her gym shorts. That’s not really interaction, that’s just being a creep.
The blonde had wrestled with using Jennie’s number and texting her but she could never think of a legitimate reason to do so. She didn’t want to seem like a twitterpated rabbit.
The Aussie had also run out of excuses to avoid hanging out with her boyfriend, who had filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Disgruntled Boyfriends that they hadn’t hung out in weeks, and sent a subpoena to Rosé in the form of a text message of a sad emoji.
Rosé couldn’t quite understand why she somehow couldn’t stand being around her very cute and very sweet boyfriend who just wanted to be all over her all the time.
Friday night, though, Jungkook somehow managed to wrangle Rosé to a party at his friend, Hoseok’s house. The studious blonde normally didn’t have the time for or interest in high school parties, but a little lightbulb lit up in her head at the thought that high school kids frequented such parties, and Jennie, being a high school kid (as opposed to Rosé, who was ninety years old), might be in attendance at this very event. Taehyung, after all, was a friend of hers and he was a friend of Jungkook’s and Hoseok’s. Rosé was willing to take the chance, however small, that Jennie might be at that party.
When Rosékook got to Hoseok’s, a rager was in full swing, and Rosé insisted, like the understanding girlfriend that she was, that her personable boyfriend make his rounds and say hello to his friends. He was very happy to do so. He was a man of the people.
Meanwhile, the Aussie made her own rounds, grabbing a ginger ale and a handful of chips from the kitchen (she was hoping for chicken wings or pizza but counted herself lucky that there was something other than beer). She briskly walked through the house, scanning the crowds for any sign of Jennie. She spotted Namjoon, who was in her Trig class, being held upside down by his ankles by a couple of jocks who then dunked him into a beverage tub full of ice. The Aussie was about to intervene when they pulled him up, handed him a beer, which he started chugging to the eruption of cheers from the basketball team. Rosé huffed in judgement and annoyance and continued her survey. In a corner, Nayeon was throwing up into a potted plant. Nearby, Hanbin and Jisoo’s ex, Bobby, were trying to set the drapes on fire with a kitchen torch. Sana and Dahyun were ing on the couch. Joy and Yeri had emptied the fridge and had made themselves some bibimbap from leftovers. Jackson Wang and Bambam were laughing hysterically, running around in just their boxers and wearing their socks on their hands. Chanyeol, who Jungkook had beat up a number of times for being friendly with Rosé, w
