Chapter 4

The morning on the island is so beautiful. It always feels like home to Chaeyoung. She always gets up late, and she always smells the cooked rice from the kitchen. Jihyo and Mina are already at the dining table, sipping her soup.

"Good morning, sleepyhead," Jihyo said.

"Good morning" Chaeyoung goes to the kitchen and grabs some water, then sits with them.

"Kimchi-jjigae, perfect"

Chaeyoung just sits on the dining table and then grabs her spoon and eats her breakfast gracefully without even saying anything after that.

"What's your plan for today, Mina-ssi?" Jihyo asked.

Mina had a hard time answering because she literally came with no plans at all.

"Do you want to go downtown with me, Mina-ssi? I want to visit the cafe near Sopyeonje. I should connect to wifi there to send documents back to my office, cause here, it ."

"YA! Told you that you shouldn't come here to work!" Jihyo is definitely mad at her.

"Yeah, I know, that's why I want to do it at the cafe, not here because you're not allowing me to work here."

"Okay, fair enough. Mina-ssi, you should come with her if you don't have anything to do. Maybe you could finish your book there. And I don't have to worry if you're going with her, actually"

"Oh, should I? Is that okay with you?" Mina asked Chaeyoung back.

"Oh, that's okay. I might spend time there, I need to finish my report all of a sudden"

"Okay then"

Chaeyoung takes a shower before going out. Almost at lunchtime, Chaeyoung and Mina head to the cafe. It's a beautiful cafe uphill but has a view directly of the sea. It's a home-style cafe with a lovely owner. Chaeyoung knows the owner, perhaps all because she's a frequent visitor to the island. Chaeyoung takes a beautiful table just beside the counter. Chaeyoung recommended Mina sit near the window with a soft seat and a pillow. That spot is indeed dedicated to a customer who wants to spend their time here to read. Chaeyoung ordered a caramel macchiato and lemonade for Mina. Chaeyoung started to work as soon as she landed on the chair.

Chaeyoung did a conference call with her colleagues in the US. She needed to finish her following research report from the sample she got in Iceland. Mina sits still on her comfortable seat and starts to finish her book. This time she brought a Poetry collection by Pablo Neruda. Mina has invested in lots of poetry books lately. She's not a big fan of novels and any literary works, actually. But poetry books are easy for her. Her friends recommend these books to her.
