Bad Feels Good

Baekhyun isn't used to feeling like this. No matter how many times he tries to wake up and shake the thought of how Seolhee is doing, everything still feels new to him. As soon as he opened his eyes today, all he could think about is seeing Seolhee at school later. He feels giddy that his teeth almost showed despite trying his best not to smile. Seolhee has that power over him.

On the other hand, Seolhee hasn't had any sleep because the third chapter of her capstone is due today. She's been working on her research study since last year and she always made sure that she's at least two activities ahead of her classmates. It just gives her the satisfaction of now cramming her work like she is doing right now. She hates this feeling, she's rushing writing her paper and she doesn't feel like she's doing her best. She wanted to blame this on Baekhyun for always having the ability to distract her even though he's doing nothing at all.

So she went to school without sleep and barely ate anything. She still has to finish the last part of her chapter three and as if the heavens isn't done punishing her yet, her submission is also her first class today.

As Baekhyun waits for her in front of the biology building, he couldn't help but notice the unusual frown and crease lines in her forehead. He was planning on just passing by her but upon seeing the gloomy aura surrounding her, Baekhyun decided to walk beside her. What confirmed Baekhyun that she is currently having a hard time is that she didn't even notice her. Not until he greeted her with an unusual yet comforting smile.

"Hey, you okay?" Baekhyun softly asks. Seolhee looked up at Baekhyun who looked worried. "Hi Baek!" Seolhee greeted with an immediate change of mood. "You look stressed, Seol," Baekhyun mumbles. Seolhee shakes her head and assured her with a smile. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I'm just..."

"What?" Baekhyun leans his head forward to get a full view of Seolhee's face. "I," Seolhee sighs. She doesn't know how to say this without sounding so overdramatic. "My paper is due today but I haven't finished it yet," and as Seolhee expected, Baekhyun gives a light laugh. "Whaaat? It's a big deal for me.'

"I know. You're just too cute for your own good." Baekhyun said. At that moment, Seolhee wasn't sure if Baekhyun started walking faster or she just lost all her energy to walk as it all transferred to her rapidly beating heart. Baekhyun looks back at her and starts motioning her to walk faster. When she managed to catch up, Baekhyun held her wrist and started running across the hallway. All the students in the corridor are getting their attention.

Baekhyun and Seolhee? Who would have expected that couple? The rumors about them dating even reached the faculty and while some professors are not very fond of the news, especially those who are aware of Seolhee's high ranking in the school and Baekhyun's fluctuating attendance, some faculty members actually find them cute. Baekhyun and Seolhee, the boy who lives on the edge, just along with the current, and the girl who had her life planned down to every minute. What a strange couple, yet it works. They've been the talk of the campus and they aren't even aware of it.

"Where are you taking me Baek?"

"I don't know, where do you want to go?" Baekhyun drags her out of the campus gates and stands in front of her. "I don't know, maybe back to my classroom?" Seolhee said and Baekhyun chuckles. "Do you want to go back? You're late for your paper anyway, why not another more day?"

In Seolhee's defense, Baekhyun made sense. Attending today's class would only stress her out because the teacher is going to talk to students one by one about their papers. "Should we go play?" Seolhee proposed. "What are you, ten?" Baekhyun jokingly responds while Seolhee playfully frowns. "Kidding, let's go, I know a good arcade place nearby."

They walked a couple of miles away from the university. One thing that Seolhee noticed about Baekhyun is when he says that a place is just "nearby", well, it's either he didn't mean it or he just has a very different meaning of "nearby".

"Wha- are we still far?" Seolhee says in between pants. Baekhyun chuckles at the sight of the unhealthy girl who is almost twenty steps behind him. Baekhyun walks back to her and grabs her hand. Somehow, he felt extremely nervous about spending the day with Seolhee that his mind was filled with the nervousness that he feels so much he didn't notice that Seolhee's already falling behind.

"Come here, it's just by that corner after the ramen shop," Baekhyun points across the street and starts walking slowly to let Seolhee breathe for a moment. "Come on, you're not gonna die from walking far, Seol."

Seolhee rolls her eyes and straightens her posture to continue walking normally. This early in the day and Baekhyun has already made her feel so many things all at once. But one thing is for sure, she likes this. She likes him.

Baekhyun leads the way towards the arcade like he's been there a couple of times. Seolhee observes as his broad back continues facing her while she slowly follows his way inside. Baekhyun practically memorized all of the arcade gaming stalls in their area because when he was in high school, this is where he and his friends would go. You see, wasn't that intimidating back in high school, he had friends. The only thing that changes is that he's no longer interested in making new ones once he made it to college. Chanyeol and Tao were just enough to keep him company.

The first booth that Baekhyun went into after they exchanged their money for the arcade tokens is the gun fighter shooting game where they were supposed to shoot zombies while wearing 3D glasses.

"If I beat you, you're gonna do one thing for me," Baekhyun challenged her as they take a seat inside the shallow stall. "But if I do, I owe you one," Seolhee returns the same energy of competitiveness that Baekhyun started.

"Sure," Baekhyun says in the most confident tone.

The game started and the one who shoots the most zombies wins. To Seolhee's disadvantage, she can count the times she played this game with her fingers. Meanwhile, Baekhyun excels at any type of game, and he's been playing this one since he can remember. So despite her desperate attempts to beat Baekhyun; even when she shoved him with her elbow to get him out of place for a moment, she just couldn't beat him. Not even on the third time.

Seolhee hears Baekhyun's loud laugh and despite the bitter feeling that she just lost to him three times in a row, she couldn't help but laugh along. How can she not when Baekhyun's almost throwing his head back from so much happiness on beating Seolhee in an arcade game.

"Let's go here next," Seolhee points to the Whack-A-Mole booth, and without a question, still with a subtle smile on his face, Baekhyun nods and proceeds to walk towards the game.

     "If I win-"

"No, we're not doing any of that anymore," Seolhee cuts her off. Baekhyun nudges her side and giggles. "Who knew you were such a sore loser, Seol?" he teases her. Seolhee grabs the hammer and jokingly gestures to hit Baekhyun with it.

Baekhyun acted on his instincts and overdramatically dodges the hammer. He made a sad face and put his hand on his chest like he was actually hurt. "That's no way to treat a boyfriend, Seol."

Well that was too much for my heart. Seolhee's hand froze in the air while still holding the hammer. Baekhyun, despite his racing heart caused by Seolhee's reaction to what he said, managed to steal the hammer away from her. He quickly inserted a coin in the slot and the game started.

"That was unfair, I should have played first."

     "You should not h

Chapter 22: That's it? He didn't even tell her that he was gonna try? I have nothing against angst but the ending just gives the vibe that the writer woke up and was in the mood of writing angst. It was so out of place that it didn't even make me sad I'm just confused af.

Chapter 22: Things were so good in the middle and it suddenly went downhill in the few last chapters..! I’m sure there were some things that they weren’t telling. It was weird to give up that fast when they fought so hard to be together before. Now I can’t wait to read the sequel.
