otterjae: “alas no... i have nora”
otterjae: *proceeds to coo over nora for half an hour*
flyingmork: again, true
doubleb: they’re hopeless
gyeomthestage: which is why we’re here!
gyeomthestage: i told jinyoung hyung to try flirting with him more
flyingmork: maybe that’s why they “accidentally” touched hands earlier
gyeomthestage: gASP
gyeomthestage: u know i think ur right mark hyung
otterjae: so that’s jinyoung hyung attempting to flirt?

“Oh Jaebum! I didn’t expect to see you here.”
Jaebum turned around at the sound of the familiar voice. There stood Jin, carrying a shopping bag. Jaebum smiled, going over to him.
“Hi Jin-hyung. I didn’t expect to see you here either. Been buying some things for yourself?”
“Just some new tops and some pants. Nothing special.” the elder replied, holding the bag open. Jaebum peered inside.
“Very nice.”
“Thanks.” He closed the bag. “You just out by yourself?”
“Yeah, I was just gonna buy some new jeans but I’m not really sure what to get. I’m not sure what I suit.” he replied honestly.
Seokjin smiled. “I’m great with clothes. I’ll help you!”
That was how Jin ended up assisting Jaebum with buying three new pairs of jeans (and also a top that Seokjin insisted he got because it suited him so well). The pair decided to grab a coffee on the way back so they stopped in at a cafe and ordered some. They then began the walk home to their houses, sipping their drinks on the way. They talked to each other, laughing at the jokes and stories they told. At some point Jinyoung came up in the conversation which prompted Seokjin to ask:
“How are things with Jinyoung? You any further along with asking him out?”
Jaebum sighed. “Not really. It’s really hard. Every time I try to say something, I freeze. Or the moment’s gone. I can never seem to get the perfect time.”
Jin nodded empathetically. “I know how you feel. I can never confess to my crush. I’m too nervous.”
“You have a crush?” the younger questioned, surprised. “Who is it?”
Seokjin looked a little flustered. “I’ll tell you if you ask Jinyoung out.”
“If I ask Jinyoung out, then you have to ask them out.” he stated, grinning a little.
The elder blushed. “I can’t do that! Besides, I think I’d prefer for him to ask me out.” He looked at Jaebum. “Why don’t I help you out? Pretend to ask me out, it might help with Jinyoung.”
Jaebum thought it was a little awkward but there was no one around so he decided it was worth a shot. He threw their coffee cups in the nearest bin, put their shopping bags in a safe place out the way, and got into character to confess.
“Hey, hyung.”
Seokjin regarded him casually. “Hey Jaebum, what’s up?”
“I was wondering something. Are you doing anything Friday night?”
Seokjin pretended to think. He looked cute. “I don’t think so, why?”
“Would you like to catch a movie?” he asked. He was aware of footsteps approaching them from behind him. He hoped they could rap up the roleplay before the person came, or that they wouldn’t walk past them. It was kind of embarrassing to be seen “confessing” to another guy.
“With Jackson and Namjoon or-”
“No. Just us.” he said firmly.
Jin looked surprised. “Just us? W-Why?”
“Because I like you, Kim Seokjin. And I want to take you out.”
Jaebum did a good job. He was a good actor. Seokjin was good too. Too good. The footsteps Jaebum had heard previously stopped abruptly and their was a quiet, gasping sound. Jaebum turned around and his heart sunk. There, not even six metres away stood Jinyoung.
Oh .
“J-Jinyoung, this isn’t what is looks like.” Jaebum stuttered out.
Jinyoung scoffed. “Sure it isn’t. I knew there was something going on between you and him. You said it wasn’t a date but I knew you were lying. Now I’ve finally got my proof.”
“We’re not going out. I don’t like him.” he said desperately. “Listen Jinyoung-”
“Save it. I don’t want to hear it. I don’t care.” He could be mistaken but he swore he saw tears well up in Jinyoung’s eyes. “I’ll see you at school.”
Before he could say anything more Jinyoung broke into a sprint away from the couple, bolting back the way he came.
“Jinyoung!” he yelled after him. He was set to run after him but Seokjin grabbed his arm, preventing him from doing so.
“Leave him, Jaebum. If you chase after him now you’ll only make it worse. You need to wait until he’s calmed down and less emotional. Then you can speak to him.”
“I need to speak to him now!” he shouted, trying to pull free.
“If you do that you’ll be hurting your chances with him even more. You don’t want that. So let him go. Speak to him at school. Or go to his house tomorrow. Just give him some time first.” Jin said, gently but firmly.
Jaebum sighed, relenting. The elder loosened his grip, looking at him sympathetically. “I’m sorry, Jaebum. But this is for the best.” he said softly.
“I know.” he muttered.
“And… god, I’m sorry for all this. This is all my fault. If I hadn’t suggested the stupid roleplay thing this never would have happened. Jinyoung would have never gotten the wrong idea and everything would be fine.”
“It’s fine, hyung, it’s not your fault. Besides, if he saw us out like this, with our shopping bags and stuff, he’d probably still think we were out on a date. This was doomed to end badly no matter what.”
“But I’ve made it ten times worse. I’m so sorry.” he said mournfully.
Jaebum put an arm around him, patting his back comfortingly. “It’s okay. I don’t blame you.”
Seokjin smiled a little. “Thanks.”
“You might as well tell me the name of your crush now. I don’t think I’ll be able to ask Jinyoung out for a long time.” he said with a humourless laugh.
“It’s… it’s Namjoon.” Jin admitted, blushing a little.
“Kim Namjoon? Your soccer team captain?” he gaped.
He blushed more. “Yeah, him. I’ve loved him for a year now, but I just can’t summon up the courage to confess. I have no idea if he liked me either. With Namjoon it’s impossible to tell.”
“Well… good luck with it, Jin-hyung. I hope your relationship with Namjoon goes better than mine with Jinyoung.” he said.
Jin flashed a smile. “Thank you. And don’t worry, I’m sure everything with Jinyoung will get cleared up soon.”
“I hope so.” he sighed. He really did pray everything would be okay. Because he had screwed up.
Big time.
