The moment our class was dismissed, I stood up right away before Hyejin and I walked out of the classroom. Normally, we would spend time in the library, in the canteen, or in the dorm if we have vacant time, but I needed to be in some place right now.

“Hyejinie, can you carry my bag for me?” I asked my red-headed friend as I grabbed a plastic container inside it. I zipped the bag again and handed it to Hyejin as I muttered, “I need to ran to the park and fed Ggomo first”

She grabbed my bag from me and said, “Can you make it? We only have a few minutes of break before our next class”

“Yeah… I already set an alarm.” I waved the plastic container, shaking Ggomo’s food inside as I walked out of the hallway. “I’ll see you later”

“Okay!” she called out.

I turned around and hid Ggomo’s food under my grey hoodie before I ran out of the building and out of the campus. Ggomo used to stay with me when Hyoyeon and I were still staying in an apartment outside the campus. After the breakup, I stayed in the dorm building with Hyejin as my roommate.

Hyejin and Byulyi used to be roommates, but Byulyi generously offered to move out so I could stay with Hyejin. Byulyi is my purple-headed friend. Hyejin and I knew each other first in middle school before the two of us became friends with Byulyi in high school. She was three years older than us and as someone older, she was willing to sacrifice herself for my sake as what she said.

Pets aren’t allowed in the dorm building. I had to hide Ggomo in this less frequently visited park. Ggomo hates me already even though I visit him most of the time to feed him. I had no other choice though. I don’t want to return him to the shelter as well. I love him even though he's not returning it anymore. Like how Hyoyeon unfortunately doesn’t love me anymore.

When I reached a busy street, I slowed down my pace and walked as I maneuvered myself through the crowd. Someone suddenly walked across from me. I tried my best to dodge the person, but they came out of nowhere, resulting in us colliding.

I heard them groaning while I in a huge breath.

“Sorry” I heard them mumble.

“I’m so sorry” I whispered as I released the breath I held in.

I never bothered to look at them and walked straight to the park’s direction. I don’t have time to pause and apologize properly.

When I was in the park, I headed to the part where there are a lot of bushes and wild grass. This is the part where people would just pass by. I haven’t even seen anyone spare a glance on this part of the park, that’s why I picked this place to hide Ggomo. This park is also the nearest location from the university I could find that seems like a safe place for him to stay.

“Ggomo… Ggomo…” I called out to my cat. I moved closer to the bushes and cupped my lips with my free hand before I called to him in a louder voice this time. “Ggomo… Mommy’s here. I brought you food. Ggomo…”

When I heard him, I knelt in front of the bushes as I pulled out the plastic container I brought with me. I shook the container, creating a muffled crashing sound from it while I continued to call his name out.

The bush suddenly shook while Ggomo’s voice became closer to me now. I could also hear rustling from the bush and twigs breaking as Ggomo’s meows become even louder. When he finally emerged out of the bush, I smiled at him so wide and hurriedly opened the container.

I sat down on the grass and crossed my leg before I placed the container in front of me. I pouted when he ignored me and went to eat his food right away, purring loudly from satisfaction.

I sighed before I reached a hand to pick leaves and thin twigs on him. Then I softly dusted him off before I caressed my hand on him. “I’m sorry,” I whispered softly. “Just hang in there. I’ll bring you to Mom and Dad once the semester is finished. You’ll have a proper home there, Ggomo.” I rubbed below his ears and smiled when he purred even louder. “I love you, Ggomo. Please don’t hate me that much” I whispered softly.

I blew small kisses on him before I smiled and watched him eat. I’m still thankful that he didn’t get sick though. He might be a little thinner but he’s still considered healthy.

I suddenly heard someone clearing their throat before I heard them say, “Uhmm… Excuse me”

I whipped my head towards the voice’s direction while I started to feel nervous. My eyes widened from fear that I was caught leaving my cat here, but they even widened more when I locked eyes with whoever was getting my attention.

She furrowed her eyebrows before she whispered, “No way”

“Are you…” I said but stopped. I was supposed to ask if she’s the handkerchief lady. The same handkerchief lady who approached me when I was sitting on a bench and offered me ice cream, but thought that it might be inappropriate.

She’s not carrying ice cream cups and bottled water this time. She was carrying a small bag with her, a half-eaten burger, a black wallet, and a plastic bag that contained what I thought to be more food.

She laughed softly and shook her head as she moved closer to me. My eyes automatically went down to the deep dimples below her lips, making me smile so much. I could not believe that we would meet again, and out of all the places we could see each other again, we met in this park, which is so random.

“Do you happen to be the person who sang her own song in a small bar last month?” she asked as she looked at me amusingly.

I smiled wider, thinking that she didn’t forget about me at all. I didn’t forget about her too. It’s a little hard to forget her even though we promised to do it. “And do you happen to be the person who brought the cups of ice cream?” I asked her, seeing how her smile made her face look even more beautiful and brighter.

“Yup” she said as she sat down beside me.

Just like the last time we met, she never hesitated to sit beside me and keep me company no matter how weird and random the place we’re currently at. There was even one time that someone was looking at me like I’m someone crazy when I fed Ggomo. It was embarrassing but it’s better that way than them kicking me and Ggomo out of the park. But she's not like them. She just made her way to me and sat down beside me.

Ggomo paused from eating to glance at her before he went back to his food.

He likes her! He likes her right away!

Ggomo was even apprehensive to me when we first met, but he warmed up to me because I fed and cuddled with him always. He doesn’t even like Hyoyeon when he lives under the same roof with her for a year. I think until now, he still doesn't like her. He normally hides and throws angry purrs to strangers he doesn’t know, especially when he’s eating.

I smiled at Ggomo before I glanced at her and asked teasingly, “Do you also randomly approach strangers in the parks and offer them burgers?”

I couldn't help but giggle a little bit when she laughed carefreely. She shook her head and handed to me her wallet as she said, “I believe this is yours”

I eyed the wallet, confused for a second before my eyes widened when it looked exactly like my wallet. I immediately patted my pockets and felt nothing in them. I looked at her in disbelief as I grabbed my wallet from her. I pocketed it in my pants securely before I asked, “How did you get that?”

“You’re welcome,” she said, ignoring my question as she smiled at me, which just made me feel so embarrassed.

I bent my head low because I know I’m probably blushing right now before I whispered, “Thank you”

She handed me the plastic bag next. This time I know for sure that’s not mine at all. “And I’m not offering my burger. I already bit on it. I have other food in there that you might like though” she said.

I grabbed the bag immediately but returned it to her right away. “It’s okay,” I whispered shyly.

She grabbed the bag from me. I sighed in relief only to pout at her when she offered me a chicken skwerer this time. “They said it’s not a good habit to decline a food that was offered to you”

I reluctantly accepted the food and mumbled, “Okay then”

I raised the chicken skewer to my mouth and started eating. She also went back to eating the burger in her hand. I actually don’t want to accept the food she offered, but I’m honestly hungry right now. I didn't want to seem too eager when she offered it to me. But the moment I tasted the delicious skewer, I couldn't stop taking bites anymore.

“How did you get my wallet?” I mumbled.

“I was the one who bumped into you earlier”

I swallowed my food first, surprised by this, before I said, “Oh, I’m sorry about that”

She shook her head as she said, “It was my fault, honestly. My eyes were locked on the donut stand that I didn’t notice you approaching. I’m sorry”

She must be really hungry if she bought that much food. I eyed the chicken skewer she offered to me and pouted at it when I almost finished it. “You shouldn’t have offered me your food if you’re that hungry” I whispered, getting conscious by how much I devoured her chicken skewer in just a couple seconds.

“I wasn’t that hungry. I was just buying the food that I was craving. This isn’t supposed to be on my diet but I relented and considered today as my cheat day. Don’t worry and please finish your food” she said reassuringly while I still pouted at her.

She must be a model or a celebrity if she has a specific diet. I mean she’s beautiful, that’s undeniable. If she also has to follow a specific diet, then that just also means that she has a nice body.

Now, that just made me even more conscious being around her.

How is someone like her hanging out with someone like me?

She was still waiting patiently for me to continue eating, so even though I’m more reluctant to eat now, I lifted my food and continued eating with less enthusiasm than the last time.

She smiled at me and took a bite of her burger. Suddenly, she started laughing softly as she said, “I honestly thought you were doing something illegal here”

“What? Why?” I asked in pure disbelief as I blinked my eyes at her.

She pointed at my head before she said, "The grey hoodie, especially with your hood up your head. Makes it look like you're trying not to be caught doing something." She pointed at Ggomo’s food next and said in between giggles, "And you're hiding that behind your hoodie, like you're carrying some sort of illegal drugs”

I couldn't help but laugh with her. Her accusations were so absurd but were extremely funny. Her giggles were also cute that it’s making me laugh as well. She just laughed harder when I started laughing

Chapter 19: Love both stories of 27. A student and a working adult were already a contradicting behaviour, and a constant MIA half made it even challenging. Glad you have fit them in well and not a forcefully fitting them into the wrong shoes.
