| Delivery Day |
A Familiar StrangerJi Hyo mutely stands frozen behind the back of a tall, lanky man who happens to be her ex-husband. She stumbles as she takes a feeble step towards him, but quickly changes her mind and as quietly as she could manage, takes a step back, turning her back to him and walking to the direction of the front door. Why was he here?
“Ji Hyo noona?” Kwang Soo calls. He had caught her, in the middle of her attempt to escape from him. “I-“ He freezes, unable to come up with words, any word. So instead, he stares at the ground and wipes his forehead from the non-existent sweat on his skin. “I- Mr. Han sent me to deliver your orders instead. He's busy...” The tall man explains, still eyeing Ji Hyo’s shoes. He couldn’t seem to look her in the eye. “He gave me the security code. H-He told me no one would be home so…” Kwang Soo continues to ramble on, suddenly aware that he had indirectly confessed of wanting to avoid her. He didn’t want to make her uncomfortable, he was speaking from experience, namely the time they were left alone in the furniture shop a few weeks ago.
The actress stays rooted in her spot; her lips drawn in a straight line. Now that she was again, stuck in his company, she doesn’t know how to act. Should she engage in small talk? Or any talk at all?
“I-It’s okay.” She says, a little quieter than she was used to. “I was only checking the house, I… I didn’t know the deliveries would still be going on…”
Nervously, he quickly tries to fill in the checklist attached onto the clipboard in his hand. He thinks that Ji Hyo was implying that he was doing the deliveries at a turtle’s pace. Though, she sees the frantic movements of his hand, resulting to a scrawnier penmanship. She clears and takes a step forward. “A-Ani. There’s no rush.”
Kwang Soo looks up at the sound of her voice. “O-Okay. Gomawo, Ji Hyo noona.” He says, not daring to meet her gaze. Her name sounded strange on his lips; she almost did not recognize it.
The actress would’ve said something back, but she decides not to. She wasn’t prepared to see her ex-husband today and quite frankly, the air she's breathing is starting to feel dense in her lungs. So instead, she distracts herself by looking at the pieces of furniture that have already been placed inside the new house, leaving Kwang Soo to work on his own. Should she wait in another room until he leaves?
But a good half an hour passes, but she can still hear him walking around the main hall. The sound of him flicking pages of paperwork was agonizingly slow. She was beginning to wonder if he was doing it on purpose. And honestly, she was starting to get hungry. Ji Hyo hasn’t eaten anything since she finished her meeting earlier in the day. So, after a few minutes of debating whether she should go out there and tell him to hurry up, her patience finally gets depleted a
