D.mon's story

Forgotten Fighters

I am Yuna Lee, but please call me D.mon. I pilot the mech named Beast which is the biggest, as well as the toughest mech of the 5. Before I start my story I want to clarify something, the other three are all about trying to take D.va out of the picture that way they can inherit her fame, however I believe in something a lot different. I believe that D.va can have her fame and her role in “Hero of My Storm”, I just want to be acknowledged because it makes no sense that we are getting ignored and D.va is getting this much publicity off of it. My story starts when I was in high school. You see I was someone who was constantly trying to get fit and to stay in shape, and I tried this idea to become someone who was pretty bulky mainly because I wanted to prove a point to my gym/health teacher that girls can grow muscle … we had a small bet between ourselves. My life got flipped upside down when I met Hana Song. Before I go on I would like to mention that we are all recording these stories in private, that way we can share any information that we may find embarrassing, or stuff we don't want the other pilots finding out, I am sharing this because if any of the other pilots found out about my connection to D.va, they would probably either kill me, or remove me from the group. Anyway, Hana was not very popular, if you walked up to anyone and asked "have you heard about that girl Hana?" most people would respond with "Who?" while others may respond by either shouting insults at you or show that they knew who she was but they did not really care about her. On the day I met Hana, I remember that is was a mellow morning as well as an absence in the air and I remember making my way inside of the school building with my heavy backpack, but as I was making my way up the stairs to get to where the school is, I suddenly noticed Hana on the ground crying right over to the right of me. I then do the right thing and see what's wrong. What was wrong was that Hana had hit an emotional part of her life as her best friend Dae-hyun-hue Park had to decided to leave her after she decided to modify his hoverboard so that they could win whatever race that they were trying to win, but due to her modifications it kinda blew up, and Dae-hyun Park was really mad about it so he decided to leave Hana because of how expensive it was. Instead of leaving her to cry, I decided to comfort her and explained that Dae-hyun Park probably did not understand that you had reached your goal and while, reaching that goal had taken a bit toll, it is about getting up, brushing yourself off and trying again, I for one knew exactly that as when I reached a score of 250 on the Fitnessgram Pacer Test, I was wheezing and coughing and my body felt like it was going to crumple. Back on track here, It was at that very moment that Hana stopped crying and looked up at me, wiped the tears off her face, and said; "Thank you for comforting me, I was also kinda scared that I wouldn't be able to find a new friend but you seem like a great friend,". I remember this quote because these words completely changed my life all together. We started hanging out more and more often, first we would sit by each other during lunch, then we would occasionally go out to dinner with each other, then it became more frequent, and while it was great for her, as I whenever I saw her face it had a really nice smile, and I could not resist to smile back as Hana’s smiles are pretty contagious, I had even felt stronger as our friendship got stronger, I could just blame it on some cheesy thing like the power of friendship but I do not think that was the case. I think what was the case was that  I had made my first true friend that would last for a good amount of time. However I also knew what it must have been like for Hana when she heard that her best friend is moving away because I had to deal with that as well except a tad different. This is a story for another time, as it's not related to the story that I am telling. One day, Hana did something bold and invited me to come over to her house, and in part of being a good Best Friend Forever I had no choice but to say no. When I had come over to her house. she immediately invited me to her room, I had found it kinda messy and disorganized and when I asked why that was the case Hana responded that she tends to be very unorganized as a person, but she can find her stuff easier if it's messy than if her room were to have been very clean. That is not important however since Hana then explains that she wanted to show me something, as she turns on her computer. After it takes time to boot up and update itself, those updates happen too much and take too long, as well as an appearance of the blue screen of death. I then look at the screen after all the nonsense happened that proves how Hudsoft should go out of business, they keep developing frustration operating systems that only cats actually want to develop, and on the screen is a video game, Hana then explains that this video game is a very special game called "Iceboy and Airgirl; In the Mountain Temple" which while it can be played with one person, it is a game designed for two people and she wanted me to be her player two. So we then spent the entire night playing a bunch of co-op games together, and luckily it was not on a school night as I hate being late to anything. This event started our gaming career, where we would play a lot of games that were designed for co-op or one of us would start up a guild and we would be in the same guild with a few others would join but they never mattered, they just seemed like friendlies. We had become such good friends that we even decided to have similar usernames for any video game that we would play, as Hana's was D.va while mine was D.mon. As we got older and we became legally able to do more things, we started to participate in gaming tournaments on eSports in which we were always on the same team and we were able to do pretty well. However, I would only participate in competitions that involve teamwork as it felt that whenever I was with others, I felt like I was a significantly stronger person than who I was before, as well as I did not have the confidence in my abilities to do solo. Hana however was willing to enter into competitions that didn't involve teamwork as she felt confident with her abilities. The thing is though, in these competitions I tended to play the tank role a lot more than any of the other players and sometimes taking the class too seriously at times, but that was because playing the role of the tank character constantly reminded myself of who I am and I would feel connected to the character. D.va's main rise to fame however, all started way she managed to become the champion of Mecha Guardian V where the two of us managed to defeat our rival King and his teammate which then lead to hosts to have a final round to find out who was the best at Mecha Guardian V between the two of us. This obviously caused the two of us to be pitted against each other, however, I decided to forfeit the match because I did not have the mental capabilities to defeat my own friend, but the thing I remember most most importantly was seeing D.va holding up the trophy, and I remember smiling because I was so proud of how far we had managed to go, as well as seeing my friend on top felt like I had gone through weird rite of passage about how I was kinda like Hana’s guardian and now I was letting her go, it was at that moment, with tears in my eyes I hugged Hana, I never explained why I decided to do that, but the important thing is that I hugged her. A few years later of King and I individually attempting to defeat D.va at Starcraft, D.va and I get a letter from MEKA inviting us to pilot mechs to protect South Korea because of our fast reactions from the video games that we play and we were like "Hecks to the yeah let's do this," so we accept the invitation and join where we met Casino, King, and Overlord and did what we do to protect South Korea from the Omnic, but before I end this I want to explain why I choose Beast as my mech on mech choosing day as I went first since "ladies first" and D.va let me go first. I choose Beast because it was very bulky, just like how I wanted to look which caused me to feel connected to my mech a whole lot more than I probably would've been with any of the other mechs. That's pretty much my story, D.mon out.
