One Hot Nerd

“Tiffany, cut it out. You’re doing it again.” Jessica whispered.

“Huh? Do what?”

“You’re staring at her again.”

“N-no, I’m not.” Tiffany said nervously. Was I too obvious? She thought.

Jessica rolled her eyes. “Yeah, right.”

Tiffany couldn’t help but stare at Taeyeon in front of her. Taeyeon’s like a drug. It’s an addiction. Tiffany just can’t get enough of her. The way Taeyeon face would scrunch up while thinking or how sometimes her brow would lift and her lips would pout while looking at her book. She found it was incredibly cute how her simple gesture of fixing her glasses when Taeyeon pushed it back at the bridge of her nose. Taeyeon’s nose not really pointy like hers but adorable enough that Tiffany would want to leave a kiss and she certainly couldn’t help but smile when Taeyeon laughed at her bestfriend’s jokes revealing her cute dimple. Taeyeon’s beauty mark at the right side of her chin. The way she walks Tiffany thought she hear the sound of trumpets.

“Tiffany-ah.”

And her voice Tiffany could have sworn she heard an angel sings. How she would give anything just to hear Taeyeon sings to her. Ever since Taeyeon’s hidden talent was made known last year Tiffany had gone head over heels over Taeyeon. She thanked Soshi University for having the annual talent show. What’s more Taeyeon’s one of the smart students and she was even voted by the student body as one of the students that most probably succeed in whatever they do in the future. Taeyeon has the look, the talent and brains to go far. The traits made her an instant sensation towards other students. One student almost killed herself for Taeyeon. Luckily Tayeon stopped her and treat her with a date to a movie. Tiffany sighed because she knows they are stiff competition for Taeyeon. And Tiffany honestly, thinks she’s not even strong enough to become a contender. Tiffany’s thoughts were stopped when Taeyeon talked to her.

“Tiffany-ah, is everything alright?”

“Yeah, you look kind of distracted lately.” Added Yuri.

“Are you sick? I’d bring you to the clinic.” Taeyeon said.

Tiffany just shook her head.

No, Taeyeon. I’m not sick but I am distracted.

Yes, I’m distracted.

I’m distracted because I couldn’t reach that certain someone. She’s too preoccupied with her books. 

How I wish I have enough courage to ask you out. Just once and it’s enough. 

I just need her time tonight. I just need one night. 

Just do it Tiffany! No I can’t. That’d be embarrassing. 

What the hell are you embarrassed about? If you don’t do it now you’ll lose your chance. Do it!

No. I can’t!

If you don’t try you’ll never know. Look! Here comes Sunny. I bet she’s going to ask Taeyeon to go out with her tonight. Do you want that?

No, of course not.

Then ask Taeyeon first. Instead of Sunny, Taeyeon is with you tonight. Imagine how awesome would that be. So what are you waiting for? Ask her out. 

“Taeyeon-ah, let’s go out tonight?” Tiffany said in a whisper. 

Taeyeon didn’t catch what she said. Actually no one did. All they can hear was murmuring sound from Tiffany. They just look at her questioningly. Tiffany’s thoughts ran wild again.

OMGee Tiffany. Seriously? Oh now you want to whisper. Say it louder!

I did but it didn’t come out right.

You got that right. Say it louder! What’s the point of having a megaphone voice if you don’t use it. Sunny is coming fast. This is your last chance. Just do it, Tiffany!

“Gooutwithmetonight!” Tiffany said in one breath. It was loud but heck it was fast. She saw Jessica’s jaw dropped unable to comprehend what just she did. Taeyeon and Yuri just looked at her with no reaction although Tiffany could sense they were both quite shocked by her sudden invitation.

Sunny finally reached their study table and like a moth to a fire she starts to get close to Taeyeon. She wrapped her arms around the petite girl’s neck and showed off her aegyo. Earning a glare from Tiffany but Sunny kept on with her act ignoring the stare she gets.

“Taeyeon-ah, want to go out with me tonight?”

Great. Sunny asked Taeyeon out. Now I won’t have a chance to even have an ice-cream date with Taeyeon. Tiffany thought but was she wrong when Taeyeon declined the girl’s offer.

“No, sorry. I already have other plans. Maybe next time, Sunny.”

“Whoa? Really? What other plans?”

“Oh just something. Maybe you should ask Sooyoung there. She’d be interested.”

“Aish that Shikshin. Not my taste. Maybe next time then.”

Sunny looking all disappointed walked off with her posse trailing along. Taeyeon then turned to Tiffany and said,

“So…what time do you want me to pick you up?”

A huge smile formed on Tiffany’s face.

“Ermm…7.30?”

“Movie?”

Tiffany nods. It’s as if Taeyeon read her mind.

Taeyeon and Tiffany arrived at the cinema not long after they departed from the apartment. They stood in front of the entrance. They could see a lot of people were queuing up to buy their tickets. Taeyeon turned to Tiffany and said, 

“Hey, you wait for me here while I’ll go buy tickets, okay.”

Before she could say anything Taeyeon had left and she was standing at the corner all alone. 

I hope Taeyeon can hurry.Hmm…I wonder what movie we’re going to see. I hope not those kung fu flicks. Please let it be Twilight.
She thought and kept her fingers crossed but judging from the length of the line she would have to wait for a long while.

“Hey, babe. Did you miss me? I bought the tickets!”

Tiffany was surprised that Taeyeon managed to beat the line.

“H-how did you…”

“Hehe I have my connections.” Taeyeon said with a smirk on her face.

“And what mov-…” Again Tiffany was interrupted.

“Twilight.” 

Wow she can read minds! I’m falling even more in love with this midget.

After the movie they went to Sone Ice Cream Shack for an ice cream date. 

“This is the best place for ice cream!” Taeyeon exclaimed.

“Keep it down. People are watching.” Tiffany bowed apologetically to some disturbed customers.

They ate their favourite ice creams and to Tiffany’s amazement Taeyeon ate two Banana Splits.

Taeyeon really loves ice cream. Somehow I found this kid like innocence of hers absolutely charming. Tiffany chuckled to herself.

“Excuse me, Taeyeon. I need to use the restroom.” 

“Don’t take too long or I’d think that you’re running away from me.”

“Pfft…don’t be silly. It’d just be a short while.”

Tiffany then got up and excuses herself.

Tiffany was washing her hands on the sink when an uncomfortable feeling appeared. It felt like someone was staring at her. Soon enough she knew who it was.

“Well, look who’s here.”

Tiffany turned around only to be greeted by a glare from Sunny.

“Wh-what do you want, Sunny?” Tiffany stuttered.

“Nice of you to ask me what I want. Well, I want Kim Taeyeon.”

You need to fight back, Tiffany. You have nothing to lose even if that means Sunny and her posse is going to make your college life more miserable. Your college life is already pathetic to begin with. So fight back!

“No.” She said.

“What? Did you just – Hahaha!” Sunny laughed.

She pushed Tiffany hard that Tiffany yelp from the hard contact of her back on the brick wall.

“Now, I want you to go home and leave Taeyeon to me. Or else.” Sunny threatened. 

Don’t be scared Tiffany. Be strong.

“O-or wh-what? Y-you can’t scare me. B-besides, Taeyeon wants to go out with me.”

“Now tell me why would she want to go out with you, huh?”

Just tell it to her face Tiffany. Say it out loud and proud.

“B-because T-Tae..Tae…”

Sunny who was a little bit impatient grabbed Tiffany’s collar and pulled her down to her face. 

“Because what? Spit it out, idiot.”

“Because she’s my wife!” 

A voice helped Tiffany answered Sunny’s question. Tiffany didn’t need to look who it was. She knows who.

Taeyeon walked up and grab Sunny’s wrist.

“Let go of my wife.” Taeyeon said sternly.

Sunny looked at Taeyeon’s face and realised that Taeyeon was serious. So she lets go of Tiffany’s collar. Taeyeon switched her gaze to Tiffany and wrapped her arm around Tiffany’s waist.

“Jagiya, are you alright?” Taeyeon asked.

Tiffany just weakly nodded. Satisfied that her wife was okay she leaned in and gave quick peck on Tiffany’s lips. Taeyeon returned her gaze to Sunny who apparently was at a state of shock.

“If you still haven’t processed it in the thick skull of yours, let me make it simpler for you. Tiffany is my wife. So I would appreciate it if you leave her alone or you have to deal with me. And trust me you wouldn’t want that.”

Obviously defeated Sunny walks away without a word.

Back at their apartment, Taeyeon switched off the lights as she wants to go to sleep. Suddenly warm hands s around her waist and kisses were planted at the back of her head.

“Go to sleep, Fany-ah. We need to get up early tomorrow.”

“But I’m not sleepy. I want to talk with my hero.”

“Your hero is tired and she needs some sleep. Tomorrow maybe?” Taeyeon said.

“You know tomorrow people will know about us.” Tiffany said.

“So let them know. I don’t care.”

“R-Really?”

“Yeah, really.”

In all honesty, Tiffany was scared. She’s scared about people’s reaction when they find out the hottest nerd is married. Married to a nobody. Taeyeon is married to the clumsy, nothing special and average student name Tiffany Hwang. Tiffany can already imagine all those stares from people not to mention receiving glares from Taeyeon’s little fanclub. Tiffany knows this is going to be another tough year. Last year, she held back her anger and extreme jealousy when Taeyeon starts to have her own fanclub. Tiffany should know better that when there’s a good side there will always be the bad of things. She’s glad that Taeyeon finally showcases her singing ability in the talent show but Taeyeon’s number of admirers increased drastically. They were some who genuinely adore Taeyeon for her singing but there are some who wants Taeyeon for her own. One of them would be Sunny. She would always try to flirt with Taeyeon. She would make a move every chance she gets. And after much persuasion Taeyeon surrendered her guard and agreed to go out with her – without Tiffany knowing it. They had one big fight because of that. Tiffany loves Taeyeon very much and it hurt her so much that Taeyeon cheated on her. She actually walked out of their home and lives with Jessica. Tonight was the first time she came home and the first after so many months being apart that she finally have Taeyeon in her ams. 

Taeyeon noticing that Tiffany’s grip tighten and her body tensed turn around to face her.

“Are you scared?”

Tiffany nodded. 

Taeyeon held Tiffany in a spooning position. Then she whispered to her ear.

“Sleep now. Have no worries because I’m here with you always.” Taeyeon kissed her temple.

“Taeyeonnie, saranghae.”

“Nado, jagiya”.
