Chapter 8
Baby, We'll Be AlrightI never understood crazy fans until I had them. As my siblings and I grow up, I remembered that my parents were always tense walking around in public. There were those who recognized them as Super Junior’s D&E and take pictures of them. Our dads would always cover our faces or turn us away from them so that we won’t be seen as much. They were always afraid for us, but I was stubborn.
Eunhae hooks her arms around her twin brothers’ necks, head locking them. They protested, but she only laughed. They tap her arm, but Eunhae doesn’t give in.
“Noona!” Dongwan exclaims, his voice squeaking.
Hyukjae unloads their bags from the car and gives Eunhae a look. His daughter laughs carelessly and lets her brothers go. Dongwoon helps his father get the suitcases together. Donghae steps out from the car, and puts his aviator sunglasses on. Their little sister and brother do the same, laughing at the antics of their older siblings.
“You got your passport? Boarding pass?” Donghae asks.
Eunhae opens her backpack for the fifth time, just so she can calm down her dad. “Yes.”
“Money? Is my card with you? Is your phone charged? You have your chargers?”
Eunhae sighs, exasperated. “Dad, I’m good. Don’t worry.”
“You call us immediately when you land,” Donghae reminds.
“Okay, okay, I got it.”
Donghae turns to his boys. “Be good to your sister. Be respectful to your grandparents.”
Dongwan and Dongwoon nod obediently. “Yes, dad.”
Hyukjae bites his lip, unwilling to let them go just yet. They will be away for a month to visit their grandparents and SJ uncles in South Korea.
Eunhae smiles, and she goes to her father and hugged him. “Appa, I’ll miss you.” She kisses his cheek and buries her face in his neck.
Hyukjae hugs her tightly. “Be safe. Call us every hour.”
Eunhae rolls her eyes. “You can’t be serious.”
“I’m just kidding, I know you’re smart, unlike your dad over here,” Hyukjae says. Donghae gives him a frown.
Eunhae laughs giddily and squeezes her father. “I love you so much.” She turns to her other dad, and rushes to his arms.
“Tell uncle Jungsoo and the others I miss them,” Donghae says to her ear. “And use your English names when you’re out in public.”
“Of course.”
“I love you,” Donghae said, feeling his eyes prickle with tears. “All the way to the moon and back.”
“Aw, daddy, don’t cry!” Eunhae laughs, rubbing her dad’s back. “I love you too!”
“Don’t cry! Don’t cry!” Her twin brothers chanted.
The twins picked up Hyukjin and Eunmi, spinning them around. They put them down, and they run to their big sister.
Eunhae hugs her younger siblings. “Take care of dad and Hyukjae appa. Don’t be annoying.”
“Yes, noona,” Hyukjin immediately says. What an obedient kid.
“Eunmi, don’t touch my stuff,” Eunhae commands. “I’ll know.”
Eunmi pouts, her dream of trying out her sister’s other makeup and outfits going to the drain. “Okay.”
“I’m just kidding,” Eunhae jokes. “Just return them where you got it from, okay?”
“Okay!” Eunmi lights up, her eyes crinkling like Donghae’s.
