Donghae watches Eunhae as she reaches for the next bar. She grits her teeth in stubborn determination, and propels herself forward on the monkey bar. Whenever he tries to get close to assist her, she yells at him petulantly to stay back. Donghae couldn't help but worry though, as her tiny feet dangle five feet from the ground. He keeps up with her pace, moving every time she reaches for another bar.

Other kids played around her, chasing each other. Their parents kept a watchful distance, wary of Donghae and Eunhae. He shuts them out, and hopes that Eunhae won't notice. He feels so tense, and so close to lashing out at them. What could possibly be wrong about his kid? She is normal, smart, and cute. She's not some abhorrent creature that was born with the purpose of eating their kids.

Eunhae slips a little, and Donghae takes a step, but Eunhae had already managed to catch herself. He feels so proud of his four-year-old, but also scared.

"No!" Eunhae exclaims.

Donghae stops in his place, uncertain.

Eunhae finishes, and smiles triumphantly with her small teeth and adorable gums. Donghae picks her up and spoils her with kisses, then sets her down carefully.

"What other games do you want to play next?" Donghae asks, bending down to meet her eyes.

Eunhae purses her lips and hums, indicating that she's thinking about it. "Tag?"

"Okay," Donghae agrees. "You can have a head start."

Eunhae flashes him a huge grin, and bolts away. He senses the other parents' disapproval. They turn to each other and murmured displeased phrases. Donghae sighs, and he jogs lightly, catching up with his daughter in no time.

"I'm coming to get you!" Donghae calls. His daughter giggles happily, innocent and unaware of the negativity that surrounds her.

Eunhae tries to run even faster, shooting backward glances towards her dad, but ends up falling over, and tripping.

Donghae bends down on one knee, immediately standing Eunhae up to observe any serious injury. He pats her leggings reassuringly, but Eunhae glares at him, suppressing the urge to cry.

"Does it hurt anywhere?"

Eunhae shakes her head. "No," she says in a tiny voice that clearly indicates that she is hurt.

Donghae raises his eyebrows. "Let me see."

He lifts up her pink leggings that were designed with cute hearts, and notices the red scratches on her knees. It wasn't too bad, but it requires cl

Chapter 22: You said that we should upvote if we shed a tear referring to a certain chapter near the finale, but I had a knot in my throat since chapter 2. So when I read all the story I was shedding more than one tear T-T
I usually feel emotional reading or watching well written stories, but it's very rare of me to cry because of them. And I'm convinced that happened not only because you told sad events, but because your wonderful narration made us see simple, intimate moments between lovers or family like the real treasures they are. Some of us can relate in some way to Donghae and Hyukjae's struggles, or value much more our loved ones, but I'm sure everyone was impacted in one way or another by this story. Thank you very much for it ♡

Chapter 22: I'm obviously stalking all your fics but my heart is just so overwhelmed and I'm hiding under my blanket cause I'm full out crying after reading that epilogue. I didn't miss that greys anatomy reference though and I thought that was a really great inclusion haha...I thought three chapters before the end that Eunhae's thoughts in italics might be her eulogy to Eunhyuk and that just made me cry more thinking about it. That was a lovely family and it was full of love that I can't help myself. I'm just a sap and if this was a movie I would buy the DVD and watch it in theaters a dozen times lol

That ending was painful in the most beautiful way possible <3 Thank you!

Chapter 22: There's a note saying that, "Upvote if you shed tears". I need to upvote then.
But, seriously, this story is well-written. I never knew Donghae's lyrics in Lost is for Hyukjae. Sometimes I think when they wrote songs and said they are about Hyukjae/Donghae, I really think they meant that.
Whether is platonic love or real love, only they know the truth. I hope fans especially ELF can support them and Super Junior regardless their decision related to their own personal life. They all in their 30's anyway. They should date and get married, having Super Junior's juniors and enjoy their life. Kekeke
