Chapter 25: Awkward Breakfast

In Love With You

Since Jungkook’s dad walked in on them last making out, Jimin and Jungkook did not get any sleep. As the sun glistens through the curtains, Jungkook feeling restless and needing to talk to his dad before he leaves for work woke up early while Jimin was still deeply asleep. Jungkook gets off the bed quietly as to not wake him up since they stayed up all night, chatting and trying to figure out how Jungkook should approach the situation. There was not much to explain anyway, what his father saw would be clear even to a blind person who hears of the situation. He walks leisurely to the bathroom and closes the door behind him. He turns on the shower, steam filling the room and he takes off his clothes and steps into the tub. Standing underneath the shower and closes his eyes as the heat soaks into his body.

The steam beating onto his bare body calms him down as his mind fades away. After he was done, he wraps a towel around his waist and gets out of the bathroom, he glances at Jimin, blanket tossed aside, arms wide open with his mouth slightly open as his chest moves up and down to his shallow breathing.  Jungkook smiles drying his hair with the towel around his neck. Jungkook gets dressed, glancing at Jimin every now and then, after he was done, he walks over to the bed. He pulls the blanket, covering him, Jimin still asleep moves to his side, mumbling something incoherent.

“Such a baby,” mumbles Jungkook, tucking him in and letting him sleep since it was too early as he heads downstairs to let catch his father.

Seeing the lights off in his dad’s room he figures he must in the dining room. He takes a deep breath as he goes down the stairs and he can hear his sister voice coming from the dining room. He sighs and walks into the room,

“Look whose up?” says his sister, “Thought you guys were going to sleep all day.” Jungkook stares at her, puzzled and glances at his father who was eating breakfast,

“Hmm,” says Jeongyeon, “Where’s Jimin?” Jungkook clears his throat, wondering if his dad told his sister about last night,

“He’s sleeping,” he replies.

“Why didn’t you wake him up to eat breakfast,” asks his sister.

“It’s too early,” he replies, “He’ll wake himself.”

“No, go wake him,” she orders, “It’s weird for him to be sleeping while we eat breakfast.” Jungkook sighs, still gazing at his father whose silence was deafening, feeling irritated at his sister, he decides to go back and wake up Jimin or else he won’t hear the end of it. As he turns around, he spots Jimin coming down the stairs wearing Jungkook’s t-shirt and jeans, catching his gaze. Jimin smiles at him, he walks towards him,

“I should go,” Jimin says quietly, Jungkook stares at him, puzzled,

“You don’t have to,” he says, “My sister wants you to join for dinner.”

“I don’t think I can face your dad right now,” whispers Jimin. Jungkook sighs, taking his hand,

“She’ll think something is wrong if you leave without saying anything.” Jimin sighs and follows Jungkook into the dining room, his heart beating fast, he can feel his palms sweating.

“Jiminie, good morning,” says Jeongyeon, Jimin forces a smile, trying not to feel weird but failing. Jungkook slightly pushes him to take a seat and sits down beside him, Jungkook glances at his father.

“Good morning dad,” he greets, his dad looks up at him,

“Good morning Jeong-guk,” replies his father, his face blank, he had no expression so Jungkook could not tell what he was thinking. He did not seem upset but the whole situation was starting to feel awkward and intense. Jeongyeon puts a cheese crepe, a sunny side up egg and a French toast in a plate and places it in front of Jimin, who silently sat there, fidgeting with fingers underneath the table.

“Juice?” she asks, smiling at him. Jimin nods his head, his eyes avoiding Jungkook’s dad, as Jeongyeon pours orange juice for him in a glass.

A heavy silence settles over them with an uneasy tension in the air. Jungkook and Jimin exchange glances as Jungkook glances at his father, shifting uncomfortably in his seat, trying to think of ways to start the conversation.

“Why’s everyone so quiet?” asks Jeongyeon, breaking the silence, eyes looking around at everyone at the table.

“Where did you go last night?” asks the dad, finally speaking,

“Out,” she replies, “I came home late.” The dad nods his head, glancing at Jungkook. Jungkook having enough clears his throat,

“Dad, I’m gay,” he says, taking everyone by surprise at his sudden confession, Jimin and Jeongyeon’s mouth drop open as they exchange glances, “Now you know, aren’t you going to say something?” Jungkook’s dad glares at him, eyebrows frown,

“What do you except to me say?” asks his father sternly, “Want me to congratulate you?” Jungkook guffs, speechless at his father’s words, “I need to say anything, not just sit there in silence.” Jimin clenches his fist, wanting to bury himself,

“Guys,” says Jeongyeon, “We have a guest, what’s happening?” His dad shakes his head, Jungkook can see the anger in his eyes,

“Did you know about this?” he asks, glaring at Jeongyeon.

“Yeah, I thought you did too,” she says, “It’s not like he ever hid it, and I told you he was seeing someone.” The father guffs in disbelieve,

“I didn’t think he would be making out with his…,” replies the father, his voice trailing off,

“I’m sorry but we weren’t doing anything wrong, it’s not like you never saw me kissing someone,” responds Jungkook. Silence fills the air, Jeongyeon’s eyes widen as she stares at Jimin and Jungkook before bursting out laughing.

“Wait…you two were caught making out,” she says unable to stop laughing, “Dad, it’s normal, they’re going out.”

“Dating?” says the father, “Since when? I don’t have many rules for you two, from the beginning I never approved of those kinds of things in my house.”

Jungkook stands up, “Those kinds of things? What the fact that I was kissing someone or the fact that the person I was kissing happens to be a boy?”

“Jeong-guk! don’t put words in my mouth” shouts his father his voice echoing in the house as everyone fell silent. That was the first time in a while he has had screamed and raised his voice at him, a chill runs down his spine. He has never seen his father so angry. His father takes a deep breath glaring at him but Jungkook kept his stance, glaring back at him, unblinking.

“Whether your gay, or straight or whatever, you’re too young to be in that kind of relationship,” he says. Jungkook guffs, not believing what he was hearing,

“Are you serious? You had no problem when I was dating Crystal, now I’m not young to be in a relationship, unless you mean I’m too young to be dating a guy.” His dad shakes his head,

“Crystal never stayed late, I never allowed it, I don’t have the time for this,” he says looking at his watch. Jungkook clenches his hands,

“You know whatever, you never ing have time for anything, so why do you care who I go out with?” he says. Jimin tags his shirt,

“Jungkook,” he says, “Calm down.”

“Jungkook,” calls his sister, glaring at him, “watch your mouth. And dad do you have a problem with Jungkook being gay?”

The father sighs, “I don’t have a problem with him dating whoever he wants, we’ll talk about this later.” The father gets up, taking his briefcase and walks out of the dining room.

“What just happened?” says Jeongyeon, “Since when do you disrespect dad like that?” Jungkook glares at her and without saying anything walks out of the room.

“I’ll talk to him,” says Jimin and gets up, going up the stairs.

Jungkook sits down on the bed, angry, the door opens and Jimin walks in closing the door behind him.

“Well that was interesting breakfast,” says Jimin walking towards him, he sits down beside him, “Are you okay?” Jungkook glances at him,

“You’re not mad, are you?” asks Jungkook softly, feeling bad,

“Why would I be mad?” says Jimin, “He just needs time to adjust to things, you heard him he doesn’t care if you're gay.” Jungkook guffs,

“The only thing I heard is him saying I’m too young to be intimate with you, it’s not like I’m .” Jimin burst out laughing,

“I would he say,” he says teasing him,

“How can you be so calm when my dad does not approve of us?”

“Well because he remains me of my dad, unlike your dad he hated even discussing my uality in the beginning, you should’ve seen him.”

“How did you change his mind?”

“Hmm, I was persistent, and I told mom, he yelled at him and threaten to come get me. I guess he realized he would lose me, so he started coming around.” Jungkook gets silent,

“You’re lucky you had the choice to leave, where am I going to go if my dad doesn’t accept me?” Jimin sighs, realizing how insensitive he sounded, Jungkook did not have the luxury to run away to his mom since she was dead. He takes his hand, caressing it,

“If it comes to that which I doubt it will because your dad loves you and your sister,” says Jimin, “But…”

“But what?”

“But… you have to calmly talk to him okay, don’t bite his head off before listening to him.” Jungkook sighs, he stares at Jimin, surprised at how mature he is being about the whole situation.  He gazes at him, finding his maturity y and adorable at the same time,

“You love me really,” he teases, changing the moods, Jimin slightly pushes him away, feeling shy but Jungkook wraps his arms around him, giving him an impromptu squeeze. The worries lifting from his shoulder as he gently squeezing him, as he wiggles trying to break free.

“,” shouts Jimin, shyly smiling, as he tries to free himself from his arms but loving it at the same time “You’re smothering me.”

“I want to take in all your scent so that it’ll never disappear,” he teases as he continues to hug Jimin.

Jimin says bye to Jungkook’s sister and Jungkook walks him to his car. They arrive at his car,

“Don’t go around cussing at your father,” says Jimin, Jungkook nods his head,

“It’s not like you don’t cuss at your dad,” he retorts. Jimin laughs,

“Yeah well because I’m an ungrateful kid and spoiled, you’re different that’s why I like you,” he says with a smirk, taking Jungkook by surprise,

“You’re not, you’re just easily misunderstood,” he says, he pulls Jimin, wrapping his arms around him, exploding with cuteness, Jimin hugs him back.

“I love being with you,” he whispers in Jungkook’s ears, making him feel soft, it’s not the three words he desperately wants to hear from Jimin, but he knows Jimin would say them whenever he is ready to.

Jimin gets in his car, “Oh if you need to talk with your dad, you don’t have to come to Rachel’s birthday party, I’ll understand.”

“Nah, it’s fine, he is not going to be home until dinner time, that’s if he does come home,” says Jungkook, “I’ll call you.”

After watching Jimin leave, he walks back in the house and was met by his sister, standing with her arms crossed,

“You broke the rule,” she says, “And instead of apologizing, you raise your voice at him.” Jungkook sighs,

“What rule, he made those rules when we were kids, I’m not a kid anymore,” replies Jungkook, “He is acting as if he was never a teenager before.” Jeongyeon sighs,

“Either way, you know dad hates it when we have guest over without telling him, you could’ve at least let him know, he would’ve never walked in on you.”

“Psst, you really think dad is mad because I didn’t tell him about Jimin sleeping over?”

“I know,” she says, “I’ll talk to him okay, we need to take this slowly, you know dad would never do anything to hurt you. He’s just confused, I told him you were seeing someone again, I think he just assumed it was a girl, and besides I can tell he was mad about something else than you and Jimin.”

“Like what?” says Jungkook staring at his sister, puzzled,

“I don’t know but I’m sure it’s work related, take it easy okay, I’ll talk to him,” says his shoulder, squeezing his shoulders, “Dad loves you and he would never have a problem with you being gay, that’s not who he is.”

“I hope so,” says Jungkook, walking past his sister.

The sun starts to sink, the night coming quicker than he had hoped for. After everything that happened, he decided to message his friends, telling them what happened, and his friends worried asked what he is going to do. He let them know that everything was fine and changes the topic to Rachel’s party. A receives a message from Yugyeom saying that she invited him and Crystal, telling him to check his Facebook. He opens the phone, puzzled, he never added Rachel on Facebook, but he had a notification, he clicks on the tab and it was a message and a friend request from Rachel. He adds her as a friend and opens the message, it was an invitation to her birthday party at her house, starting at eight. He laughs, so extra just like her best friend.

As the time goes by, sitting in his room playing video games with Yugyeom over the computer while chatting online. A knock comes at the dinner,

“Got a minute,” she says, Jungkook nods his head, telling Yugyeom to excuse him for a minute. He takes off the Bluetooth and turns to face his sister,

“Dad called and said for both of us to be at dinner tonight,” she says. Jungkook sighs,

“Okay.”

“And let’s try to listen to him first before jumping to conclusion okay.” Jungkook nods his head,

“I will.”

It was not long until dinner arrived, Jungkook made sure to let Jimin and his friends know that he will arrive at the party late. The silence fills the room, making the room cold as Jungkook helps his sister set the table while waiting for their dad who arrived home earlier than he usually does. After setting the table they take a seat and wait for their dad to join, the argument from earlier in the morning still lingering over them, their dad walks in the dining room and takes a seat. Jeongyeon glances at Jungkook, silently mouthing for him to be calm and listen to their father. The dad clears his throat, taking a deep breath,

“Before we start I want to apologize for the way I behaved this morning,” says the dad. Jungkook and Jeongyeon exchange looks, mouth opened and surprised, “I was angry about work and I took it out on you.”

“Dad,” says Jeongyeon worry written all over her face, “Is everything alright?” The dad smiles,

“Everything is fine, its just the company is having some legal and financial problems right now and the directors decided to let go of some people.” Jungkook and Jeongyeon gasps, shocked, they gaze at their father with questions and concerns,

“Dad you’re not…”

“It’s not me,” replies the dad, “I oversaw the firing of some people. I felt guilty because those people really needed that job and last night, I came to check if you were sleeping. I’m sorry, I should’ve knocked and not just barge in your room, with everything that happened at work, I was angry and took it out on you.” Jungkook sighs, sitting there speechless, feeling guilty for everything he said at his dad, feeling sad and disappointed that he did not notice that his father was in a bad mood and had his own problems to worry about. Making a big deal out of nothing, so selfish. The dad clears his throat,

“We’re still letting go of people, they don’t deserve it, they gave it all for the company and now they’re just being tossed aside. Anyway, I just want you to know I was shocked and surprised, I’m not going to lie but I don’t have a problem with you being with…”

“Jimin,” says Jungkook, quietly but loud enough for his dad to hear,

“Yes, tell him I’m sorry, anyway let’s eat,” says the dad.

“Dad I’m sorry,” says Jungkook, “I didn’t know, I said stupid things.” The dad smiles, shaking his head,

“No, it was just a misunderstanding,” says his father, “I’m the adult I could’ve handled everything well from the beginning. What is said is said, let’s forget about it.”

After the talk with his dad, Jungkook was no longer in the mood for a party. He felt guilty for not allowing his father to process everything that happened and to make it worse he overlooked his father’s pain and disrespected him. Sitting in the leaving room with his dad, he texted Jimin and his friends to let them know he was not feeling well for a party. He messages Rachel wishing her birthday and apologizing for not being able to make it even and thanking her for inviting him. He glances at his father whose eyes are glued to the television, he could not tell if he was watching the television or just staring at it. He was expressionless he must be feeling guilty for those people who got fired. His father always blamed himself for the things that happen as if he could somehow control people’s father, he is the same with the death of their mom. He blames himself for giving in to her.

“Don’t you have plans with your friends?” asks his father, Jungkook laughs, shaking his head no.

“Really?” asks his dad, “About Jimin, I heard you call him hyung, he’s older than you?” Jungkook clears his throat, he did not think his dad would bring him up so soon,

“Yeah, he is a senior,” he replies, “He doesn’t seem like it huh?”

“Hmm, what’s his full name?” asked his dad,

“Umm… Park Jimin,” answers Jungkook. His dad turns to look at him dumbfounded,

“Park?” says his father, “His father is Park Doo Hyun?” Jungkook nods his head, not knowing why his dad was asking all these questions and does he know Jimin’s dad?”

“Wow,” says his dad, “His dad is a well-respected and influential businessman, I always thought he was a heartless bastard. Is Jimin out to his family?” Jungkook nods his head, “Hmm, seems like you can’t judge a book by its cover, his company and ours have always been in competition, the world really is small.”

Jungkook smiles at his dad as he stands up, “I’m gonna head to bed, don’t stay up too late just cause you don’t have school, good night.”

"Good night dad," replies Jungkook, watching him as he walks out of the living room.

Sometimes I get excited and rush through things and I hate doing that with my writings. So wait for a while, I will be finishing the sequel after Love Maze, I don't like doing two stories at the same time lol. Thank you for liking my stories.
