Here are some of Sowon's personal schedules on half-to-end of year 2018 :

• July 2018 : regular Host on TV show about fashion 'Look at Me'

• October 19th, 2018 : Sowon debut as model at Seoul Fashion Week.

• December 19th 2018 : Beauty Icon Award from Korea First Brand Awards.

That day Sowon have to back and forth to JTBC TV Station for twice filming 'Idol Room', first with GFriend, then she has to go to accept her 'Beauty Icon Award', then back for second filming with other idols that born on Pig Year.

• December 25th 2018 : the first photo teaser for their next album, their 2nd full album, was her photos. And on their group photo she seems become the center.

• December 28th 2018 : special stage cover of Miss A''s 'Hush' on 2018 KBS Gayo Daechukje and she herself (her name hashtag) become 18th World Trending Topic that day.

2018 COEX Winter Festival. GFriend become the WishDoll ambassador.

December 19th 2018 : Sowon unable to attend at the opening ceremony because her bussiness (she had to receive her Beauty Icon Award and filming Idol Room).

But she manage to join the Video promotional V-Live with the rest of GFriend.

• On November 10th 2018, Sowon introduce Meonji, her pet dog.

• Nominated on TC Candler 'The 100 Most Beautiful Faces 2018' along with SinB.

• On her birthday, there's 1st Sowon Photos Exhibition 'Precious Moment' at Seoul.

 

And...

Not forget to mention, on their first concert 'Season of GFriend' on the begining of the year of 2018, on January to be exact. Sowon's special solo performance 'Gashina' was surprised many people. Seems that was Sowon's turning point.

 

 

 

On this half-to-end of year 2018...

Public seems start to notice about Sowon's graceful visual. When GFriend at their early debut era, Sowon in considerated as underrated members. She's not the visual of the group, she's not main position, public even considerated her having less of vocal and the worst... they judged her as the talentless on their group. So many bash and uncouraging words had Sowon swallow.

Before, she seems nothing but the oldest member who have to become the leader and herd those cute naughty beagles so they can keep walk on track. By the way... that's really tough job, though...

 

Among so many videos about GFriend on YouTube that I loves to watched, I've read a humorous comment that impressed me. It's just a kidding comment (I know) but it seems like it's precise too...

The Commentator was made an imaginary scene/conversation. More or less is like this :

 

Sowon's initial job interview with Source Music :

SouMu : "We know about your talents. But this job is more than singing and dancing. It is for the position of group leader, spokesperson, dorm boss, big unnie, and disciplinarian for five younger girls. What applicable experience do you have?"

Sowon : "Well, for three summers I worked at a kennel. My speciality was herding beagle puppies..."

SouMu : "YOU'RE HIRED!!!"

 

Hahaha!! I love that imaginary!! ^^

Then again... 

I found the same acount name commented again on other video of GFriend. And again... it impressed me much. The comment more or less is like this...

 

"Something we often to forget about our Sowonnie : When everyone comments about what babies our other five girls were during Glass Bead era (and they WERE!), people forget that Sowon had just turned 19 years old only five weeks before their debut. The girls had prepared for eight months for debut, so Sowon was only 18 for most of that time. And yet, she was already fulfilling the roles of leader, group spokesperson, interface between management and the girls; surrogate mother, dorm disciplinarian, ultimate unnie, shoulder-to-cry-on, morale booster and advisor. What enormous responsibillity for someone so young! Sowon was the only one who did not attend SOPA - she graduated from Hanlim Multi-Art School. She focus on modelling and acting, not singing and dancing. She would have seemed to be a poor choice for an idol group like GFriend. Yet SouMu CEO Sung-jin saw something in her; strength and capabillity beyond her years (and a ton of patience), and he recruited her specifically for the role of LEADER. I think time has shown it was brilliant choice. Bless Momma Sowon ~"

For me personally, on this year of 2018, the most surprising moments about Sowon are :

• 'Gashina' Special Solo Performance on GFriens first concert 'Season of GFriend' 

• Sowon's father died on June 22th 2018 (may he rest in peace)

• Her BANGS!

• Her first job as regular Host on TV show, even more it's about fashion, 'Look at Me'. Cool!

• Sowon debut as model at Seoul Fashion Week (her make up, though... hahaha!)

• Beauty Icon Award from Korea First Brand Awards

• The first teaser photo for their next comeback, 2nd full album, is the view of HER BACK, that look gorgeous.

• Special stage cover of Miss A''s 'Hush' on 2018 KBS Gayo Daechukje that made her become 18th World Trending Topic that day. Many people curiously want to know "Who the blonde girl on 'Hush' special stage?"

 

Sowon did lot of suprising things this year. Good things. So happy for her. So proud of her.^^

GFriend's dorm...

Their schedule that day was not too many, that's why on that evening, they able to gather in the living room, relaxing, just having a relaxing chit-chat between them, having a hot chocolate milk, and goguma (sweet potato, while on the outside is snowing heavily.

The Unnie line are on the couch, while the dongsaeng line on the mattress on the floor, playing with Meonji and Angkku. Sowon is sleeping on Yerin's lap, her long legs sprawling until Eunha's lap on the other edge of the couch from Yerin. Eunha is absentmindly massaging her leader-unnie's legs.

 

"Isn't it still too early to sleep? How can Sowon Unnie sleeping at this hour?" SinB sneering.

"Unnie must be very tired. You know she really busy lately." Yerin said.

"Yeah. Poor Sowon Unnie~... remember when she had to filming Idol Room for twice in a day? And still had to go the receive her 'Beauty Icon Award'? She had to back and forth from JTBC to awarding venue then back to JTBC, and after those she even still joined us for COEX Winter Festival VLive. That day must be very exhausting day for her" Umji join to talk about it while gently caressing her oldest Unnie's blonde hair, carefully to not waking her up.

"Yeah, even after that, Sowon Unnie really busy, her schedules is fully packed." Yuju said.

"She is working really hard to fulfilling extra tasks that CEO-Nim told her to being our current visual." Eunha said.

"CEO-Nim give her too much works to be done... huft~..." Yuju said her sentence in one deep exhales.

"I have to admit that her performance for special stage KBS Gayo Daechukje were excellent." SinB complimenting, "It made me thought and realized that all these times Unnie had to restrained herself alot for us... she looked confident and comfortable done that genre and wore that style." SinB staring at her sleeping Unnie from the corner of her eyes.

"But you doing that too." Umji suddenly said.

"Doing what?" SinB questioning.

"Restraining yourself. You shoud be doing stronger genre & style than our group's used to be. It must be hard for you too..." Umji said.

SinB just low her face, "It's actually because Sojung Unnie. I don't know if all of you still remember or not... but we once had a talked about this and she made me decided to do this and loosen a bit of my idealism." SinB tell almost in whisper.

"What do you mean?" Eunha questioning.

"It happened when our debut were postponed for the second times, and each of us drown into slump. That night, we gather on our practise room and talked about it. Sojung Unnie said that she hoped we stay and wait...

 

 

*throwback to that time...

"I know you disappointed. And maybe start to having thoughts to stop or maybe considering to move into another company..." Sojung paused, give time for those 5 younger girls to digesting her words, also observating their faces, trying to find particular clue, "Maybe you doesn't like the concept of our group. Maybe you think that it too cute and girly, too light, too easy. Doesn't match with your expectation and far from your idealism. It's good then..."

Those 5 girls surprised to heard that, "Good?!"

"Yeah, it's good. Very good. It means you have high target. It happen to me also. I have different idealism concept than our group concept." Sojung admit.

"Really?" They ask again for assuring.

"Yup!" Sojung confidently tell, "You know... I'm trainee for years already. I've been moved in and moved out  into several companies before I got here. Maybe some of you have the same experience like me..." Sowon glance to Youngest Eunbi, " Practise is become our life habbit. We used to focus, to use our mind and strength on our practise. Then we might be too exhausted to care about our surround. You know how 'normal' for trainees to come and go. There're who stay, but also there're who left... some trying to another place, hoped that the next place might be better, but there're also who give up their dream. Some because too tired of heartbroken and disappointments. But there're also who just playing, just pass by without too much care because it actually not their passion.

 

You know...   how normal for a trainee to come and go... but personally at the begining it broken my heart. But after experienced to been left by many trainee friends or instead me who left them to move into another company, I learned and after several times I'm able to got healed fast. Maybe it seems good things that I'm able to move on fast. But at some point it also scares me at how good I adapted myself to faced that situation.

 

It seems I become numb.

 

I become afraid to attached too much on my trainee friends. Afraid that I'm gonna heartbroken again if one day we have to apart.

 

When I moved here and met all of you. In just few months, we have experienced been left by several prospective members of our group.

I don't know how each of you personally deal with that kinda situation. Maybe it different for each of us.

But here we are now... a group, with 6 fixated members, with huge excitement to debut as soon as we can, but facing our second time to postponed." Sojung chuckle bitterly.

 

"But even after those ups and downs, I still want to beg for your understanding and patient. We gather here as a group, with 6 fixated members. Named as GFriend..."

 

Sojung chuckle again, "It still sounds cringey to hear our group name, right?"  The girls chuckle and grimace too.

 

"But I'm sure that we gonna adapted fast on that matter too. There will come the time when we proudly tell the world that we are the member of GFriend.

That we are specials.

We are unique.

One of the reasons is because we are not quiters.

We are not gonna give up this group.

 

I'd like to ask you to do a contemplation, to remind you that there're many people that wish to be on our position. There're so many people that in less position than us. Our current situation is not the end of our dream. We just pause for a while. It's not the end of our path. If maybe you look these as an intersection. It's okay, it's normal... but I want you to know that I really hope that no one of you will let go your hand off of each other. I really hope that you will stay and wait 'till the time we can crossed this road together and continue our path. Together.

To be together we need to have the same goal. We need to adjust our rythm in the same way. Some maybe have to work harder to catch up. And some have to be tolerant and losen a bit of her perfection. We need to harmonized our skill and talent in order to fill up each other's less. We need to be united. We have to be a whole. Because we need a full power to reach our goal.

Why don't you try to think that this group is a vehicle to accomodate us to reach our destination. Isn't will more convenient to ride on something together, like a bus when we go for a trip? than just walk on our feet alone?...

There're another way or vehicle to reach our goal. Indeed this is just a way among lots of ways. But I want to ask all of you so we can go together...

 

I don't know how much worse my numb heart is now. But for sure, while we gather here as a group, I want this group works. Not just because of my passion for become an artist and want to debut, but also because I already love you, girls. Love you a lot. And I don't want to be left by again. I don't know how I'm gonna deal if might one or few of us decide to leave.

 

So, would you like to go... together?"

 

Sojung asking that casual question then offering her hand to them...

 

 

Those 5 girls looking at her oldest unnie and her offering hand. There's glimpse of hesitation on their eyes. They glance to each other. Trying to 'discuss' it telepathically.

 

 

After a while...

Sowon still offering her hand. Waiting...

 

"I'll go with you, Unnie." Yerin the first person who accept Sojung's offers. Yerin take a hold to Sojung's hand, she grab it warmly as warm as her smile and eyestare to her one and only unnie. Sojung gladly sigh and reply to Yerin smile.

 

"Me too. I'll go with you, unnies." Yuna hold her two eldest unnies hands.

 

"Me too." The oldest Eunbi join.

 

Yewon glance to her same age friend. Hesitate. Then look at the 4 joining unnies who already able to smiling gladly.

"Uhmmm... I lacked a lot. I'm very amateur trainee. " Yewon sound unconfident. "These few months I spent with all of you was gave me lots of new experiences and knowledges. I might gonna caused you troubles, Unnies... but would you mind if I want to join to follow you, unnies?" That Maknae pleading.

 

"I do mind!" Sojung sternly said.

Umji gasp, taken aback. She low her face. Disappointed.

"I can't let you follow us, Yewon-ah!" Sojung said, still stern.

 

Yewon's lips and chin gradually start to trembling. There's a sob...

 

"I'm sorry... but I can't let you follow us, Yewon-ah!" Sojung said again, softer than before.

"You MUST go with us. But not for following us." Sojung said again.

 

Yewon lift her face to look at her oldest unnie, at the same time showing her adorable shocked and confuse face.

 

Sojung chuckle, "If you not go with us, then who else gonna be our Maknae?"

There's a proud and glad smile forming on that Maknae's face by heard that. She then join her hand to hold her unnies hands.

 

"How about you, Young Eunbi?" Sojung ask to that particular person.

Hwang Eunbi bravely look back straight on her eyes. There's no clue written on that younger girl's face. Cool and calm. Flat.

 

"You are very good dancer. That undoubtedly fact." Sojung sincerelly said. "You are multi talented. You gonna be great idol. If I'm at the casino, I even dare to bet my life for that, and I'm very sure that I'm not gonna lose." Sojung show her proud smile to that girl, "It gonna be great if you can stay and join us. And help us to get better on our dance. But I'm gonna understand if you have another plan. I'm sure there're lots of companies that interested to you. You gonna be great on whatever you choose." She give her assuring smile.

 

Still there's no expression on Hwang Eunbi's face.

"Of course, I am gonna be great." She then confidently said. "And I'm gonna bring you all with me." 

 

"..." speechless.

 

Suddenly Sojung chuckle, "That's great plan!"

Then that young Eunbi burst to laugh, spread her arms trying to wrapped them all in her hug.

SinB chuckle, while the other girls are smilling as they recalled their memories.

 

"CEO-Nim's new breakthrough to test on Sojung Unnie optimalization is gonna tiring her even more later." Umji said in concern.

"But seems CEO-Nim's plan is working really well. Sojung Unnie got lots of attention lately." Yuju said.

"She even catched the world's attention on her 'Hush' performance. She become The 18th world trending topic. That's awesome!" SinB excitedly said.

"Sojung Unnie bravely took the risk to wear that revealing costume that so different than we used to wore and her new blonde hair was helped a lot. She totally fabulous!! she makes people become interested to her and it also lead them to interested to our group. It's timely with our comeback plan." Eunha also excited.

 

"Yerin Unnie, why you not saying anything?" Yuju wondering.

Yerin smile, "I'm already happy hearing your boasting about Sojung Unnie. And I don't want to bother her sleep by my voice. Sojung Unnie's rest time is my top priority right now, so I will do my best to keep her got high quality resting." She said in almost whisper.

 

Umji squeal, "Sojung Unnie is like a sleeping beauty. What a wonderful is that...."

"Yerin Unnie, are you gonna be Sojung Unnies's fortress?" SinB smirking.

"Yeah! I'm gonna protect her. Gonna do everything what it takes to keep her safe. So beware!" Yerin said dramatically.

Her 4 dongsaengs chuckle by heard that.

 

 

Few hours later...

Sojung wriggling a bit under the warmness of a blanket, then slowly open her eyes as she yawn. She a bit confuse for waken up in different place than her usual bed room. But then quickly recognize it as their dorm living room.

The light is off, but the moonlight shine through their balcony window glass. Sojung turn to sit. There're few cracking bones sound while she moving her sore body. There's nobody else there except her roommate. Yerin is sleeping soundly.

 

"Oh.. Yerin is got stucked here because of me... because I slept on her lap. Why she not wake me up or just replace her lap with pillows, so then she can move to our bed room and sleep more properly?"

Sojung's thought.

 

"Yerin-ah..." Sojung called her roommate's name as she gently tap Yerin's arms trying to wake her up.

"Eung~?" Yerin respond. Then naturally stretch her body, "Yes, Unnie?"

"Let's move to our bed room!" Sojung tell. Then she get up from the couch, grab Yerin's hand then pull her to get up then pull her to their sharing room. Yerin just obsentmindly letting her lead.

 

"Why you didn't wake me up or just replace your lap with pillows, so then you can move to our bed room and sleep more properly?" Sojung scolding.

"I don't want to bother your sleep. You soundly sleep like a baby. I know that you tired. You need proper rest. Afterall, I can comfortably sleep everywhere. It doesn't matter." Yerin said in her hoarsh sleepy voice, while obidiently letting Sojung set her to lay on her respective bed.

Sojung tucked her roommate on blanket. She taken aback heard her answer, "Did you deliberately stay so as not to wake me up?"

"Eung~..." Yerin shortly answer as she already close her eyes, about to back to sleep, "Goodnight, my beloved Unnie. Thanks for your hard works... zzzz..." Yerin voice gradually turn to whisper as she fell asleep.

 

Sojung smile by heard that, feel touched by Yerin's cute sacrificion for the sake of her sleep requisite. She gently caress Yerin's head, then bend to peck her temple.

"Thank you, Yerin-ah. Have a nice sleep and wonderful dream. Goodnight."
